What Size Safety Chain Hook Will Fit Curt XD Class V Trailer Hitch # C15313

Question:

The safety chain hook holes on this hitch are much larger than most and have a lot of metal to get a hook around them. I currently have a 7/16inch Curt clevis hook and it is too small to allow the retainer to snap closed. Which hook does etrailer sell that will work with this receiver?

Since we have the referenced hitch, Curt Class V XD Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15313, in stock in our warehouse I paid a visit there with the Laclede 3/8-inch Clevis Hook # 6495-401-04. This clevis hook easily fit the safety chain holes on the hitch and allowed the retainer to snap closed.

This clevis hook has a working load limit (WLL) of 5,400-lbs so a pair would offer enough capacity for all but the heaviest trailers.
