Recommended Hitch Mounted Motorcycle Carrier For 2005 Nissan Murano For Dirt Bike
Question:
Hi i am looking at purchasing a 2005 nissan murano SL. I also ride dirt-bikes. So I was wondering if the hitch 3 is going to be able to support the weight of my dirt-bike on it if i dont want to get the trailer, but instead I use a motorcycle carrier. Will the hitch break from the weight of the dirtbike?

If you have a Class lll hitch installed on your 2005 Nissan Murano you may be okay with a motorcycle carrier installed in the hitch to carry your dirt bike.
From my research I found the tongue weight of your Murano is around 350 lbs. That would be the combined weight of the carrier along with the weight of the motorcycle you plan on carrying.
I recommend the Ultra-Fab dirt bike carrier, part # UF48-979033. This carrier will work in a 2 inch receiver opening and includes a 39 inch ramp, which would be perfect for a dirt bike. The carrier weighs about 50 lbs. I have attached a link to a product review for this carrier you can check out.
I also recommend a hitch receiver lock like part # e98880. This chrome-plated lock has a 5/8 inch diameter pin and a covered key slot to prevent corrosion.
If you need tie-downs for your dirt bike I recommend part # EM05710 along with part # 06303. Together these will give you a ratcheting tie-down system that has straps that will not harm the finish on your bike.
