Get excellent traction in extreme conditions. Grooved links and ladder pattern provide traction for your dually truck in snow, ice, and mud. Reversible design allows for wear on either side for longer-lasting chains. Cams allow easy tensioning.

Features:

  • Provides excellent traction for your dual-tire truck
    • Square links are grooved to dig into deep snow, mud, and ice better than traditional square links
    • Ladder pattern gives you traction as you drive forward
    • Allows all rear tires to dig in, giving you more traction than you'd have by just putting chains on the outside tires
  • Lasts longer than typical chains - reversible design allows for wear on either side
  • Installs with effortless tensioning - just twist cams to pull the chain tight around the tire
    • Rubber adjusters (sold separately) are recommended for a tight fit
  • Resists corrosion thanks to nickel manganese alloy steel construction
    • Case hardened for strength and durability
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Application: dual tires
  • Fits: 15" - 18" tires (for exact sizes, see below)
  • Quantity: 2 chains (passenger's side and driver's side)
  • 90-Day warranty

Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

These pewag ladder-patterned chains are great winter weather chains for your dually truck. Not only do the grooved square links dig into deep snow and ice better than rounded or standard square links, but the reversible design of these chains also allows them to wear under standard use much longer than other chains. And if you're partial to American-made products, you'll be happy to know that these are made in Colorado.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Snow Chains

Installing these chains is simple.

Lay chains on the ground to get all the tangles out

1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks.

Drape chains over tire.

2. Drape the chain over your dual tires, making sure that the prongs attaching the cross chains to the side chains face away from your sidewalls. Drive forward about half a tire rotation.

Connect the chain behind the tire

3. On the back of the tire, pull the chain tight and hook the ends together. Repeat this on the center chain and the side chain on the front of the tire, then clamp the lever to fasten extra chain links and keep them from flapping as you drive.

Twist cams

4. Insert the included tool into the cam and twist to tighten the sidewall chain. Twist as many cams as it takes to get a tight fit.

Attach optional tensioners

5. Drive forward 2-3 vehicle lengths and recheck the chain tension. Tighten any loose cams. If needed, rubber adjusters (sold separately) can help you get a tight fit. Make sure the hooks on the adjusters face away from your tire so your wheels don't get scratched.

Quick Tips:

  • Lengthen the life of snow chains by drying them after each use before you store them.
  • Check out our installation kit with safety lights and a kneeling pad (PO34FRK) to make things a little easier when you're installing chains out in the snow.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

Purchased for 2016 Sprinter 4WD 140. Very pleased. Works well here in Pacific NW snow and ice. Heavy chain, but installs easy enough. Will need designated storage space. Great service and delivery.

by:

Quinn was awesome with helping me figure out what Pewag chains that were right for my truck because I insisted on an American made product.
Thanks again Quinn!!!

by:

Chains worked as designed. We use them in our trips to our farms in Montana and Wyoming when roads are open of course. Truck and trailer do not slip or fish tail.

by:

Pewag PWE2228SC chains are nothing fancy. Good old traditional design. Came in a canvas bag with no closure. Successfully mounted them on P165/70R17 tires. Have not tested them in real-life snowy conditions. After chains are on, should drive vehicle 1/4 to 1/2 tire revolution, then tighten chain hooks further. Adding additional tension cords almost a must. Picture shows chain loosening at 6 o'clock and 7 o'clock positions after driving only a few feet. Consider adding threaded chain link to tie down extra free links to prevent them from flopping around when driving. Flopping chains are know to cut brake and ABS lines and cause other damage to the vehicle, especially if chains are installed on front tires. Thule XG12 Pro may be a better choice for front tires, because nothing flops around on the medial side of chains.

So far, these chains look like they will deliver. I wanted something better than a cable chain that only lasts one storm. In my local, we typically get freezing rain with temperatures in the 30's. These should be good on ice. Installation was fairly easy and the cam tensioners pulled the chains tight. I also ordered the chain tensioning bungie.

by:

Didn't include a cam wrench, or a recommendation to order the wrench separately. What came is what I ordered but not what I needed to use the product. So: average.

by:

Ordered the snow chains, they look to be of quality. Haven’t used them yet, but will in due time. They look to be a great product.

by:

Shipping was extremely fast , received my order in 2 days . Chains are high quality and should last a long time. Bought these for all 4 tires of my ‘01 Ford F-350 , tires are BFG All Terrains Lt285-75-R16. They fit perfectly, will probably be cutting 2 links off of the backside where the two ends hook together. The chains came.2 per sack with a cam tightening tool in each sack. I modified the tool to make it easier to use when your hands are frozen.

by:

Holding up real good so far. my only complaint is the chain tightening tool is pretty weak. I'm using the tool from a cheap set

by:

Quality made chains are priceless! We run Pewag chains on our trucks and equipment and get great life and performance from the all square chains.

by:

Pewag always has been the standard for chains that are designed to do the work when you have to get work done. The fit was as expected you just have to tie back the tails on the inside where they don’t hit the strut tower. A couple of zip ties works
Thanks Tim for the help

by:

The chains fit our Wrangler Rubicon well, and are really substantially built. I like the cam tensioners. I might add a rubber tension too just to keep everything tight when driving. Really appreciate the quick delivery!

by:

Easy to install and great traction in ice and deep snow. Would definitely buy again!

by:

Customer service was beyond expectations. I received the incorrect chains and once I notified etrailer of the issue they immediately corrected it and I was on the road within a few days with new chains. Pewag quality remains and now my work truck and personal rig are outfitted the right way. Thanks!

by:

These Pewag chains are VERY heavy duty and seem to be well made and strong. The cam tighteners will make adjusting chains easier.
Service from etrailer was very helpful in getting the correct size for tires and vehicle, and the chains were shipped quickly.

by:

Chains fit my tires very well and appear to be very well made.

by:

2nd set of the Pewag tire chains I purchased here in the last four years. Loved the first set, still use them here in Wisconsin and Montana. Needed to purchase another set to fit some larger oversized tires. Amy helped me out deciding which chains would best fit my needs and I still can't believe how fast she turned the order around and had them at my house the day before I was leaving for Montana. Can't get better service than that.

by:

I did the research & I am VERY HAPPY with my decision to buy these snow chains. My tires are 35x12.5x18. The quality & looks are great. These chains will be last ones for my truck! Best Prices Here (etrailer.com)

by:

Awesome HD tire chains for on or off road use! 12" of snow and or compacted ice...

by:

Nice Chains---The chains we received were for a light truck. The tires we have are P215 70R15 and the chains do not fit. We need 2 more links to make them even come close to closing. We have the truck in the garage in ideal conditions--but if we were out on the road---this is impossible. Sent an e-mail to e-trailers and waiting for a response. Also, 2 of the side links have been put on backwards from the factory.

by:

I had never worked with this company and I needed tire chains for our tractor. I went online, ordered them and they were delivered before the estimated time of arrival. I will certainly use this company again.

by:

Pewag products are top of the line and not for the faint of heart. We run Pewag chains on our
Firedepartment loader and now on my new Bronco...

by:

Fits perfect and easy to install!!

by:

Haven't used on the road yet, since luckily I didn't encounter snow/ice on my recent drive... but did try on. Their etrailer web site clearly specified what size of tires the chains fit and the details of the specific chain models, like type U. The Sprinter manual specified type U chains. Delivery was per their commitment. Fit is good and triple cam method seems that it will work well to keep the chains snug on the tires. The only thing that seems that could be improved, is the cams are tightened and loosened with a supplied L shaped tool. If this was a T shaped tool, this would allow better leverage to be applied to the cams. Thanks

Am glad to have these chains just in case and for the trips through the mountains :) They are very high quality, Pewag is the best for chains, whether for snow tire or security.. I bought a cheaper set (A different brand) a few years back from one of your local auto parts stores, one of the links broke the first day I used it, very low quality.. Sometimes it is a bummer upfront paying the higher cost for quality, but in the long run it is always worth it.. These Pewag chains can not be beat.. You can tell they built these to last, very strong and durable. The old chains I had might as well have been mesh wire compared to these bad boys.. Plus before I ordered I looked up the Versatility so these chains fit my 4runner now and they should fit my dream Land Cruiser that I am hoping to buy in a few years.

I am always very impressed with ordering from Etrailer.. They are always very helpful, professional and seem to actually care about their customers; which many businesses seem to not anymore.. They ship quickly and I always seem to get what I ordered faster than I think it will take. Prices are very reasonable, People are great to work with. The way they run their business is the way it should be ran. I am very happy with this company and am glad to buy products from them, I always love helping supporting companies that do such a wonderful job at what they specialize in! You guys should carry the Pewag security chain as well. Thanks again!

For your dual tires on your 2003 Ford E-350, it is not recommended to only use the chains on the outermost tire because that won't provide even traction or weight support. I highly recommend using chains designed for use with dually axles. • Are Snow Chains Required for Both Wheels On a Dual Rear Wheel Moving Van
You can use one tire chain on each side of your dual rear wheel van, however, I would recommend using chains on all 4 rear wheels, especially if you will be driving in areas with extreme weather. Using chains on all 4 wheels will provide more traction on snow and ice over using chains on 2 wheels, but using chains on only 2 wheels is acceptable. • Is Cam Version of Pewag Chains # PWE4219SC Better than Non-Cam Version
The cams of the part # PWE4219SC do make installing the chains a bit easier since you can tension them to the tire a bit easier after fitting the chains. For the small price increase it's worth it to have them. Each set of 2 chains weighs 49 lbs. For tensioners the part # TCMA2 would be a great option as well.

Very a really high quality tire chain that fits the tire size of 225/75-16 that's a dually setup we have the Pewag Snow Tire Chain part # PWE4219SC which are made from a stronger metal than other chains and are reversible so they will last a very long time.
