Video Transcript for Putco Element In-Channel Window Rain Guards Installation - 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we have a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and we're gonna be installing the Putco Window Air Deflectors on the front and rears. And compared to a lot of other styles, the Putcos are gonna have a little bit more contours to 'em compared to just the more bubbly style. I think they're gonna look really good on this truck. These wind guards are gonna allow you to roll down your window about an inch and a half to two inches when it's raining and still get some fresh air. They're gonna be made out of a polycarbonate material that is claimed to be virtually unbreakable so when you're driving down the road, any rocks or anything like that's coming off the road in colder temperatures, hotter climates, they're going to resist dents, dings, cracks, and definitely resist breaking so you may not have to get a pair for a long time.

They are gonna have a nice dark tint to 'em too so like on our back windows, if you we're to roll the window down two inches, you don't have the sun shining in, you're still protected with that darker tint. Now as far as the insulation goes, it's gonna be a no-drill or no-cutting insulation. The wind deflector, each one of them are going to have a sticky backing that's gonna stick to the inside of your windowsill. But more importantly, each one of 'em are gonna come with two spacers. For the fronts, they'll go at the top and the bottom, and at the backs they'll go both of them at the top.

This is to help you to be able to close your windows. If you have the automatic safety feature, that will stop it if there's anything getting in the way. Now that we've gone over some of those details, let's go ahead and show you how to get 'em in place. To begin our insulation, you need to roll down your window. We are starting with the passenger front.

The driver's side front is going to be the exact same. Just make sure that you're grabbing the correct air wind deflector. We'll start by peeling off the adhesive backing. You can test at these to see to double check, make sure that you do have the right kit for your vehicle. We did our test fit on the driver's side so we know it's the right kit.

We'll get this peeled off. And then to, in order to get it in place, we tried putting it in this way first. You would think that you'd have to put this way in first, but it's actually a little bit easier if you go up to the rear of the vehicle first at the top of the window and then take this little piece and kind of bend it and put it inside the track. Now if your vehicle is older, this vehicle's pretty new when we're installing these. If it's older, you might wanna take an alcohol wipe or something and run it up inside there, but we've got it stuck. We wanna put a little bit of pressure along the top to try to get it to stick on the inside of that where the window seats. Your kit is going to come with plastic spacers. If your windows have the sensors in 'em, for the safety sensors. The smaller size spacers, which are these, are gonna go on the rear windows and the taller ones are gonna go on the fronts. To get those in place, all you have to do is take the spacer. One's gonna go up here at the top and one will go down here at the bottom and it's essentially just giving it a little bit more space for the window to be able to travel so that it doesn't set off the sensor. So I'll take it, put it in the sill, push it there. This is also gonna help to keep your wind deflector in place if the adhesive we're to ever fail. We'll push it in. You just wanna make sure it's seated all the way against the back wall of the sill. For the rear one on the top, I just pushed it in halfway and I push it back all the way against the back and then took my trim panel tool here. You find the end and then push it up into place and then double check to make sure it's seated all the way back in there. Now we can check to make sure our window closes. Now you will want to leave your windows closed for 24 hours in order for this to properly adhere to the rubber portion on the top of your windowsill. I do recommend parking in the sun if you're in a colder climate. Here, it's about 50 degrees, so we're gonna back this truck into the sun and let that adhesive heat up a little bit, but you definitely wanna leave it for 24 hours so let's go over to the driver's side 'cause that's the window that has the automatic assist, or the safety feature, and see if our window closes over there. So we've got our spacers in place. We can close this automatic window and see that it goes all the way up inside. The problem that our neighbor here was having before is that the spacers we're not in there and he was trying to put up his windows and they would click and come back down every time he had to put his window up, so what we did is after we put the spacers in, we tested again. He ended up just pulling 'em out 'cause it was frustrating him, so after the spacers are in, it solved all the problems and we're good to go. Your rear deflectors are gonna install very similar to the front. You'll peel that backing off, slide it up into place. These are typically easier to put in place than the fronts because you don't have that weird angle, but we'll take those smaller spacers and do the same as the front, except both of these are gonna go at the top. We'll take it, slide it in place. Make sure it's seated all the way and then slide it up. And the same for the other side. And we'll test out our window. Perfect. Hopefully this helped you decide whether or not the Putco Window Air Deflectors is gonna be the right kit for your 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.

These do not work. 1st hot day the adhesive comes off and the window will not close without pushing them in. They should not even offer this junk.

The rear Rain Guards went on easy. The front was a pain and would not seat properly to allow the window to go up freely. It didn't help that Putco decided to send a QR code to get instructions although install was pretty straight forward since they will only fit one way. The QR code didn't go straight to the site for the instructions. I had to jump through too many hoops and never got there. Whatever happened to just putting the instructions in the box? The window still contacts the front end of the guard. Perhaps it will seat if I leave the window up for a while. Instructions would probably have helped. Packaging was poor as well and although they weren't damaged, I have seen how delivery drivers handle packages and this could have been a problem.

These rain guards look great on my truck. Ive had the stick-on rain guards before and would eventually would have problems. Just follow directions on installing all will work out looking great.

After looking around for a few weeks for window visors I decided to give these a try for my 2011 Silverado 1500. The well packed shipment arrived in within a few days, and I have to admit I was a little skeptical when I first opened it. The visors themselves and the adhesive strips seemed a little thin and danity. I dry-fitted everything before removing the tape backing to get an idea of how they attach. Total install took 15-20 minutes. It has been a year, and they function as advertised, and still look good (they've held up to several pretty aggressive automatic car washes). These allow you to keep the window cracked in hot weather without worrying about a passing rain drenching your interior. These are visors, not rain deflectors.

by:

These air deflectors are for a 2015 Silverado, they fit perfectly. This is a better quality compared to anything you buy at the autoparts. I've bought several items from etrailer over the last few months,I am very satisfied and would recommend this website to everyone.

by:

These are the best Chevy Cruze visors you can buy. The others do not cover the rear window completely, but these do. They also have a straight line boxy look that matches the lines of your car too! These are very good window ventvisors, and I couldn’t be happier with them. Definitely 5 stars!

by:

Extremely easy to install. Look great on the truck. No fitment problems at all. About the only complain I have is that it was difficult to get the backing off the adhesive! Not much of a complaint there...

by:

This is my first Putco product. I like the custom fit and easy installation. In channel fit looks good on my 2008 Ford F-450. Etrailer has done it again.Fast shipment, quality products, and fair prices. I'll be back.

by:

Quality Product. Quick Shipment. Easy installation. Very happy with these window guards.

by:

Excellent, way better than the WeatherTech rain guards I had on there before.

by:

I was worried about the price, but once I had them in hand and installed I was more than satisfied. Followed the instructional video, and had no problems installing. These are solid, and look great on the truck.

by:

Fit was great but both back visors are damaged. Driver side has a big crack, passenger side has several small cracks. Front visors are great and easy install. Look really sleek!!

by:

Forget the Putco, order the WeatherTech for a better, more secure installation. Lesson learned. I ordered these figuring to save a little money. Not worth it in the long run.

by:

2017 Ram Bighorn. Excellent product and easy to install.

by:

I received the window vents for my 2002 Suburban and they were in great condition, easy to install and fix perfectly. Etrailer is a great retailer and ships fast and at a reasonable price. Thanks for your help and I will be sharing your business and using it again.
Sincerely,
Capt. Dan

All the products were quality and easy to install. They arrived quickly and in good condition. The only deficiency that I see is that the window visors do not match because they are made by two different companies. Something that I should have looked at more closely when I was ordering.

by:

Do not work on my truck, they will not allow the window to go up in the channel.
Sorry, I would love to have them on my truck.

by:

So far I like it . take me 15 minutes to put in all the windows . Watch the video did exactly
what it show on the video , come out perfect.
thank you.

by:

Looks great on my 2016 Chevy cruze limited easy to install

by:

Installed on my 2016 RAM 2500. I like the fit and finish although they seem to be messing with the auto up pressure sensor in the window motors from time to time. I’m sure they just need more time to seat and wear in.

by:

WOW! I am thrilled with these window vent shades. Great instructions and perfect fit.

by:

I ordered 2 sets, 1 for my truck and 1 for my wife's. There are instructions on the back of the box and a supplemental sheet inside the box. The sheet says start from the front of the window and work back. The box says the opposite. I did some trial fittings both ways, and the way on the sheet works better. I had them all installed except the front passenger window. That one decided to shatter while being bent to fit in the window channel. No problem, I'll grab that piece from the other set. Of course, the front passenger piece was cracked, I assume in shipping, while all the others are just fine. etrailer.com is sending a replacement for the cracked one and Putco warrantied the one that shattered. Great customer service. A word to the wise, don't throw out the box until all issues have been resolved. etrailer.com might want to submit a claim to UPS or FedEx, who may want to see the box it was shipped in.
They do make a noise while driving. Like a window is just barely cracked. You'll get used to it.
