This dielectric grease is great for making permanent outdoor wiring connections. It does a great job at helping fight rust and corrosion. Used on the attaching metal parts in combination with electrical tape on the outside of the parts, it really keeps the parts working for many years into the future. I also use it on the vehicle side of trailer wiring to ensure proper connections to avoid lighting failure while heading down the road with a trailer. Just add some when necessary to keep it covered and it helps a lot.

by:

Thought I had a bad wire but it turned out it was some water and crud in the connector. Grease fixed it. Keep it in my trailer tool box.

by: 06/01/2021

Exactly what I needed to rewire a 20-year-old trailer that was starting to show it's age with inconsistent lighting performance and continuity issues. In addition to purchasing this lighting harness, I upgraded all my incandescent bulb side markers and taillights with LED units and complete rewired the trailer. etrailer had everything I needed in one place with excellent pricing and superb service. Everything is working great and I love the brightness and visibility of the LED lights.

by:

A little tube of dielectric grease - works as it should: smear it on the electrical terminals of the trailer's electrical connector (or in any other automotive electrical contact that you want to protect from the elements) and it helps keep moisture and corrosion at bay . Grease is, by its nature, a tad messy - but this product works well for its intended purpose.

by:

I bought a small tube of dielectric grease back in the '70's when I lived in Iowa. All the humidity and winter-time salt on the roads caused many shorts in the electrical connections of older vehicles (1969 Camaro).

I've lived in Arizona since the late 80's, but my tube was about empty and I saw this on your website (plus I needed an item or two to get free shipping!). What little is in my old tube now resides in the electrical toolbox.

Five stars for etrailer!

It is dialectic grease. It is loctite brand. What more can you ask for.

One year later and no corrosion in any connector or light socket.

by:

Used it on new T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector once installed, and will use it for vehicle and trailer light bulbs and other electrical connections. Good product.

by:

Product assembled as expected, less the metal bracket that doesn't assemble to the frame without partially removing the bumper. I chose not to mess with the bumper and directly mounted the unit to the bumper as others have done. Other than attempting to attach the bracket to the frame without luck, the assembly only took 20 minutes.

by:

I haven't opened this one as yet. I've been using the dielectric grease that came with the four flat connection. I plan to keep the connections clean and apply additional grease as needed.

by:

Installed fine on my 05 Hyundai Santa Fe. Watching both videos helped with the installation. I also was sure to use the Loctite dielectric grease.

by:

Dielectric grease is a must in order to have solid connections. Even if you live in a drier climate, you need this.

by:

Perfect fit and the right wiring connection for my Karavan trailer

by:

Great for all your automotive and travel trailer electrical needs.

by:

Dielectric grease to help my trailer connectors. Works great!

by:

Bailey was more knowledgeable than the manufacturer of the parts I purchased. The order was shipped out the same day. Spectacular service to say the least!

by:

Typical tube of Dielectric Grease, works well.

by:

I am completely satisfied. The package arrived quickly and I was able to install on my truck the same day with help from the installation videos. I will definitely purchase from etrailer.com in the future. I have saved money by spending with etrailer.com and doing the upgrades myself.

by:

Exactly what I needed etrailer had. Fast delivery everything I ordered was in great condition. Great service. Have ordered from etrailer several times, always on time and is exactly what was ordered.

by:

etrailer ROCKS! great service, great products, and the customer service is the best! They make sure your purchasing the correct product for your project the first time.

by:

seems to work very good and makes it easier to plug in connectors.

by:

Works as expected. Precision Tip simplified application. Appreciated that I could get all the install accessories delivered at the same time as the hitch itself.

by:

Easy to apply, came to me quickly, and working well for my trailer lights.

by:

I am so glad I came across etrailer.com, They have what I need in stock, and show you how to use and or install the product.
They have great prices and fast shipping, What else could you ask for!

by:

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring Running Lights
A 5-way will have the following functions: left turn and stop, right turn and stop, running lights, auxiliary, and ground. If everythying is working except for one function there are a number of potential issues you will need to troubleshoot for. you will need to use a circuit tester such as # PTW2979 to test the connector on your tow vehicle after disconnecting it from your trailer. • Troubleshooting Dim Trailer Left Turn Signal
Yes, this could possible be an issue. Sometimes a faulty ground can limit the amount of current that can flow to the lights. It can also cause your lights to behave in unpredictable ways. My recommendation would be to hook up a 12V, well charged, battery directly to your trailer connector. Apply the negative terminal to the connector ground and then apply the positive terminal to the different light pins. If the lights are still dim, your problem is in the trailer wiring. If this is the...

The issue with your boyfriends trailer lights still sounds like a ground issue, but there are a few things he can check. He needs to make sure that on both the connector on his truck and the trailer plug is clean and free of any corrosion. I recommend using a dielectric grease, # LT37534, once the plug and connecter have been cleaned and inspected. The grease will prevent corrosion and eliminate water contamination. The trailer wiring harnesses for your 1996 Chevy Caprice sedan, # C55347 from Curt and # HM11141185 from Hopkins are very similar. Both install and function the same way. About the only difference is the Hopkins harness comes with a little packet of dielectric grease. You could add dielectric grease # LT37534 if you wanted to go with the Curt harness. Either one will work for you though. If it were me I would go with the Curt harness since it costs less and has a 1-year warranty whereas...

  • Protecting a Trailer 7-Way Connector While Trailer is in Storage
Covers for 7-Way trailer connectors are very uncommon and the only ones we have are attached to powered jacks. An inexpensive solution would be to use a small battery box such as # TK2051 and slightly modify it so you can put the 7-Way in it. I also recommend adding some dielectric grease, # LT37534, to repel moisture.

  • Will a Dead Battery In the Breakaway Box Cause Trailer Brakes to Not Disengage?
A dead battery would not be the cause of your brakes not disengaging. A dead battery would have the complete opposite effect on your brakes. A dead battery wouldn't send the electric signal to engage the electric brakes and no electric signal would mean no brakes at all from the breakaway standpoint, but you will still have brake signal from your brake controller.
