Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2005 Kia Sedona - Curt

Today on our 2005 Kia Sedona, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver, Class III, part number C13340. Here's what it looks like once it's installed. You can see it's a nice, round, tubular design. It's going to sit up flush against the bottom side of our bumper. Got these nice flat safety chain loops with fairly large diameter holes. That's going to allow most of your tow hooks to be able to fit thought there easily.

5/8's hitch pin hole. Does have the decorative collar and reinforcing collar on the outside of our receiver tube. It's going to be a bolt on design. No drilling required. Going to come with all the hardware needed to install it and a complete set of instructions. This hitch is rated for 300 pounds of towing weight which they're downward force.

3500 pounds of total trailer weight towing capacity. Which is the amount your loaded trailer can be. If you're going to use a weight distribution, you're going to bump up your tongue weight to 500 pounds and 5,000 pounds for our gross trailer weight. Let's go ahead and get you some measurements. This is going to help at selecting your accessories such as a bottom out cargo carrier or bike rack. From the center of the hitch pin hole is equal to the outer most part of our rear bumper.

From the ground to the inside of the receiver tube is about 14 inches. Let's go ahead and try to install it. Beginner installation, we're going to go ahead and locate our attaching points. We're going to use these two points here and this tow loop inaudible 00:01:42 same on the other side. We're going to start by removing these two 17 millimeter bolts. Take our socket, remove those.

We'll do the same on the other side as well. We're going to take one of our new bolts and go ahead and throw it in by hand to make sure it's going to go in nice and easy in all of our holes. We're going to have some 12 millimeter bolts and some conical tooth washers we're going to slide on. We're going to have the teeth from the conical tooth washer facing into the hitch. We can go ahead and put our hitch up into place and we're going to attach it through the inaudible 00:02:25 factory weld nuts with a supplied hardware. If we can get an extra set of hands and we're going to set our hitch up into place. We're going to install all four of those bolts into the factory weld nuts. We're going to take our half inch bolt through the spacer block, place on top. Place another spacer block on the bottom side. Another 1/2 flange nut. I'm going to go ahead and tighten that down. We're going to go ahead and inaudible 00:03:04 all these down using a 3/25 inch wrench. Once we have them snugged down we can torque in those specifications listed in our instructions. Torque the other side. Our installation will be complete. That's going to do it for our look at and install the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Class III, part number C11340 on our 2005 Kia Sedona.

Purchased this kit for our '04 KIA Sedona. It fit perfectly and installed easily. Hitch is just the right height and looks good too. Can't go wrong with this one.

Weve used the trailer hitch quite a bit. Havent had any issues. Great product.

I bought this hitch as a replacement for my existing hitch (same hitch) the local folks that installed the last one wanted 300 and some odd dollars to buy & install the hitch. After reviewing the videos I decided to install it myself and save a $150 but that did not end up being the case. The hitch its self is fine my old one lasted about 10 years, the issue I had with the product was it came with the wrong pitch bolts so when I was installing the bolts into the frame nuts (using a torque wrench) before I hit the desired torque the bolt stripped. I had to go to a professional to have the nuts replaced and the hitch mounted which was a $160.00. Very disappointed the bolts were wrong and I did a lot of work for the same price of having it installed.

The trailer hitch and wiring harness were easy to install and work great. Ordering through etrailer.com site was a breeze and the staff provided excellent support. I had entered some wrong info on my order and called the customer service number, a live person actually answered and resolved the issue. How refreshing, thank you!

the hitch receiver worked as it should. There was no need to drill any holes, just remove the tow hook ups underneath the chassis of the car and presto the hitch receiver was in place in no time, about thirty minutes or so. I would really recommend your company to my family and friends in the future. Great job and awesome products your company sells...kudos or in Spanish. Un millon de Gracias

I ordered the hitch, the wiring harness and the ball mounts from etrailer and I couldn't be more pleased with the entire package. Everything fit perfectly and the only issue I had was removing the existing bolts from the Kia in order to mount the hitch. That took more work than the actual mounting of the hitch and setting up the wiring. Thank you etrailer for making this easy at a very affordable price!!

Never thought I could purchase a trailer hitch that I could install myself. After review of the excellent video I ordered the Curt. It arrived very quickly and was much easier than I imagined. Also ordered the wiring kit for my vehicle and that too was very easy. I would recommend etrailer.com to anyone for any of the products they sell. They stand by you and make sure of your success.

Everything finally worked out great.
Used
it for a year and I just sold van.
The new owner gets the rig now.
My new truck already has trailer wiring and hitch.
I refer etrailer to people all the time.
Thanks

Installed easily. 40 minutes is about right. Took me around an hour, but much of the time was looking for the right tools and letting my five year old turn the wrenches so she could "build muscles".

It does stick out the back a bit more than on different brands of minivans (probably 3" from flush with the bumper), but with the spare tire location, I don't see any better way to make the hitch.

The hitch receiver got here pretty fast, even on a holiday weekend. The instructions indicated that the installation would take approximately 30 minutes, which was pretty accurate. I put the hitch on by myself in 25 minutes. Overall I was really happy with the purchase, just wish I would have went ahead and ordered the wire harness at the same time.

Great products. I've purchased two trailer hitches in two years for two different vans. Both easy and fun to install, yes fun. Both were shipped fast arriving before quoted time.

by:

Great Product. Product as advertised, fits the vehicle I bought it for. Only problem is that 1 bolt on one side didn't line up right but I think it might be because the tow loop on that side may be bent or something. Need to get that fixed then I'll be able to 100% complete the installation.

Shipping was awesome. Free Shipping. Ordered it on Thursday and it was on my doorstep Monday morning.

This trailer hitch is very well built, very sturdy and of good quality. The staff at etrailer.com are very courteous and very well educated on their products. If I ever need another hitch, this is where I,m coming. I might add that shipping was very fast.

I ordered my new hitch for my dads 2005 Kia Sedona van on thursday afternoon and on monday it was here in northwest Florida. After we got everything togeather ( a 18mm socket and a 3/4 socket and pull bar) it took 20 minutes and it was on, everything bolted right into place. This is a very good product and the service was excellent. U-Haul said they could put one on for over $200 they said it would take 1 1/2 hours to install (of course they got paid by the hour) we paid $165 for this one and it delivered free. You don't have to be a mechanic to install it, it has perfect instructions with it. Over all it was a very good buy.

by:

It took me about an hour to install. The problem I had was on the driver's side the inner bolt could not be tightened with a torque wrench as a socket would not fit from below. That bolt had to be tightened with a wrench. Other than that all went well.

The trailer hitch received arrived quickly from from the date I ordered it.
The directions were very clear, and the product was very easy to install. I would recommend this product to friends.

I want to thank you for the prompt delivery. My package arrived one day earlier than expected. As a female, I was able to install within 30 minutes. Was a perfect fit. No drilling required. Thanks etrailer for being there for this Senior Lady.

  • Trailer Hitch Options for a 2003 Kia Sedona
There are a few trailer hitch options for the 2003 Kia Sedona, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13340 and the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75131 which both have the larger receiver tube opening. I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver because there is no drilling required as there would be for the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver. Unfortunately, there are not any more cost effective options available. Please note, trailer hitches are specific...

  • What Size Are the Bolts to Install the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13340 on a 2004 Kia Sedona
There are 2 different bolt sizes in the hardware for the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13340 which is a confirmed fit for your 2004 Kia Sedona. You will need 2 Hex Bolts that are 1/2-13 x 2" and 4 Hex Bolts that are M12 - 150 x 40 HEX. You can actually order replacement hardware from us by ordering part # RHK on our website, choosing "Curt" from the drop-down manufacture selector, and then typing in your part "C13340" in the Hitch Item Number slot. • How to Find Correct Ball Mount for 2003 Kia Sedona
In order to choose the correct ball mount for your 2003 Kia Sedona and your trailer there are a couple measurements you'll need to take. First, make sure both your vehicle and trailer are parked on level ground; you'll then want to measure from the ground to the top of the inside of your hitch receiver. Next, measure from the ground to the bottom of your trailer's coupler and find the difference between the two measurements. If the height of your hitch is greater, you will need a ball...

  • Curt Trailer Hitch for 2006 Toyota Prius
For a 2006 Toyota Prius I suggest the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver, # C11468. This is a confirmed fit for all trim levels of the 2006 Toyota Prius. This is a Class I hitch with a maximum gross trailer weight of 2,000 lbs. and a maximum tongue weight of 200 lbs. It has a 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver opening. If you will be doing some light towing and not use hitch only for accessories such as a bike rack, you will need wiring for the trailer lights. I suggest the T-One Vehicle Wiring...

  • What is the Distance Between the Bolt Holes of the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13340
I went out into our warehouse and measured a Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13340 and found the distance from the bolt hole center to bolt hole center was 36-1/2 inches. Check out the picture I attached to see this measurement. If you measured from the inside of the bolt hole to the inside of the other bolt hole and came up with 36 inches you should still be fine since the bolt holes are slotted for extra flexibility when installing this hitch. Sometimes hitches can get slightly bent...
