Snowplow Installation

Push Frame

Installation is quick and simple - just slide included shank assembly into your 2" receiver and secure with pin.

Snap Pins

Then lift the blade, one end at a time, onto the frame's holders and fasten with snap pins.

Plow blade showing 3-point directions

The SnowSport HD blade is mounted on an angled, 3-position shank assembly, allowing you to plow to the left, to the right or straight ahead.

How to Plow

Plow

To plow, lower the blade and begin driving; no wiring or hydraulics are needed. The unique push frame on the shank assembly allows the blade to move along the grade of the terrain for easier, more efficient plowing. The heavy-duty rubber cutting edge is effective yet turf friendly, collecting snow and squeegeeing slush without digging into the ground.

Reverse

When you reverse direction, the blade lies back, skimming over the surface of the ground so that you can easily take another pass.

Backing Up

Once you're finished plowing, just lift the blade and refasten into the travel position. The blade is secure enough to travel at highway speeds, and the low-profile design keeps it from blocking your vehicle's headlights. Removal for storage is quick and easy. The plow can be used on the rear of your vehicle, making it a cinch to back out of your snow-packed driveway.

Video Transcript for Agri-Cover SnowSport HD Utility Snowplow Manufacturer Demo

(upbeat rock music) (upbeat rock music continues) Narrator This video is to be used in conjunction with your owner's manual to help you with the assembly and mounting of your new SnowSport HD Plow. You will need a receiver plow mount hitch installed on your vehicle before starting the plow assembly. Follow the written instructions for the mount kit for your particular model of truck. Next, you will want to gather the tools shown on the list: torque wrench, impact or ratchet with 9/16-inch and 3/4-inch socket, drill with 3/16-inch and 5/16-inch drill bits, number 3 Philips driver bit, 3/4-inch box wrench, 5/16-inch open end wrench, 3/16-inch Allen wrench, bubble level, and protective eyewear. Make sure your vehicle is parked on a level grade and you're ready to get started. Step 1.

Insert interceptor into receiver and secure with the hitch pin. The interceptor can be installed with the big leg turned either up or down as needed for proper push frame clearance, shown turned up in this video. Bolt the push frame to the proper hole pattern on the interceptor using 4 half-inch by four-inch bolts with flat washers and lock nuts. Leave bolts snug tight for now. Step 2.

With the bolts snug tight, level the push frame horizontally, then check push frame for vertical plum. If plum, tighten all four bolts and proceed. If not plum, refer to the shimming procedure in step number 2 of your owner's manual. Step 3. Align the end of the rubber edge with the matching channel of the bottom section of the aluminum blade.

Slide the rubber edge into the channel until it's centered on the aluminum blade. Take the top half of the blade and connect the tongue-n-groove joint with the bottom half. Slide the top section until it's centered on the bottom section. Step 4. At each end of the blade, insert two square nuts into each channel, flat side facing out.

These nuts will be aligned with the holes at the top and bottom of the slide hinges. Place each slide hinge on the blade and align the edge of the hinge with a factory mark on the blade. When both hinges are properly aligned, they should measure 22 1/2 inches apart. Turn the 3/8-inch by 3/4-inch hex bolts with flat washers into the nuts that we're previously slid into the channels on both the top section of the blade and the bottom section of the blade. Double check to make sure each slide hinge is lined up with the factory mark. Then, tighten the hex bolts on the top section first, then tighten the hex bolts on the bottom section. Using a 5/16-inch bit, drill a hole through the blade in each factory punched hole on the slide hinge. Turn a 3/8-inch by 1-inch self-threading bolt into each drilled down hole and tighten. Step 5. At the tongue-n-groove joint, drill a 5/16-inch pilot hole at the factory mark in the v-groove at each end of the blade. For a 96-inch wide blade, there will be an extra hole drilled, and bolt installed per side. See step number 6 in your owner's manual. Turn a 3/8-inch by 1-inch self-threading bolt into each pilot hole and tighten. Using a torque wrench, tighten all six bolts in each slide hinge to 31 foot pounds. Step 6. At the bottom of the blade, double check that the rubber edge is centered. Then using a 3/16-inch bit, drill a pilot hole at each of the four factory marks in the v-groove. Be sure to only drill through the first layer of aluminum and into the rubber. Using a number 3 Philips bit, run a self-drilling screw into each of the four pilot holes. This prevents the rubber-cutting edge from moving. Step 7. Now, hang the blade on the push frame in the transport position and insert the keyhole pins. Insert two square nuts into the top channel. With a hex nut turned onto the stud of the blade marker, align the blade marker with the hole on the lift handle and bolt the marker and handle to the blade using one of the square nuts in the channel. Turn a 3/8-inch by 3/4-inch bolt into the other hole on the handle and thread it into the second nut that was slid into the channel. With the handle flushed with the blade edge, tighten both bolts connecting the lift handle to the blade. Repeat at the other end. Step 8. Attach the rubber box end to the blade using the metal cap plate and four 3/8-inch by 2 1/2-inch self-threading bolts. Tighten these bolts until the rubber end begins to compress to the blade. Insert a fifth bolt to tighten the bottom of the rubber end to the bottom of the metal cap plate. Secure this bolt with a flat washer and lock nut, tighten all bolts equally, and repeat at the other end. The installation of the plow is now complete, and your plow is ready for the winter season. How it was received; either is was mail destroyed or UPS did this in the process. No telling what parts are missing, waiting for UPS to come pick this and E-Trailer to send out replacement.

I thought these product would be packaged better from the factory for shipping resilience.

2005 GMC Sierra

This hitch was very easy to install....I had to trim the lower air dam to fit around the receiver and that gives it a clean neat look.
I didn't like that I had to remove and leave the shields around the tow hooks off. But overall I'm very pleased.
I plan to use this hitch for maneuvering a camper in a narrow spot beside my home, and for a bike rack when towing a camper.

The Curt front hitch is GREAT!I use it to help move my camper beside my house which is lacking clearance to back in. I will certainly install one on my next truck.

2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I gave this hits only 4 stars since all of the available information indicated it would bolt right on to my 2003 Avalanche 1500 (All Models) with no modification, but it wasn't quite that simple. First off, my Avalanche has the plastic cladding. The end brackets of the hitch push the bottom of the air dam under the bumper down a bit and make it bow out. I had to remove the bracket that secured the air dam to the center of the frame. I mounted the hitch in the upper position since I didn't want it to be so low, and the receiver ends up being 8" back from the bumper facia. I had to order an 8" extension to bring it out past the bumper. Other than that, I'm happy with the hitch. I just wish the fitment guide was a little more specific.

Bryan C.

8/13/2013

Did the hitch still come out under the cladding? Or do u need to make a hole for extension? Thanks Bryan 2004 avalanche with clading

William

8/20/2013

Since I installed the hitch in the upper position, I had to cut a hole through the claddingbumper. This came out near the bottom of the license plate recess. I then use the 8 extension if needed. This brings the receiver out in front of the bumper.

Of the many hitch receivers I have purchased, the front mounted ones have never failed to surprise me of their usefulness! From bike racks, to carrier for coolers, to my chainsaws, gas and oil, they make it work. Recently while cutting wood for a hunting lease engagement, I put a second ball on the front and used it to drive a 16' trailer up a hill to get the wood where it was needed for offloading. Backing it up had resulting in damaged trucks, trailers and numerous attempts. Using the front hitch it was a one and done deal! Love it! I have even used it to pull trees over when felling. I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the uses! If you have ever thought about it, just stop and order! You won't regret it!

I have a 2006 Silverado 2wd LD truck and mounted a curt front trailer hitch ... I mounted both side plates first without tighten down.. I then mounted the 2" receiver section ... Tightened that down then, finished cranking down side brackets !!!!! Done !!!! However I did have to cut the backside of the tow hooks facia plastic with a jig saw no problem ... I never cut into the cup portion I just cut some of the extra plastic in the back off DONE !!!!!!!

by: Leon Thompson10/08/2020

I have had this on my 2005 Chevy Silverado for a year. I have used it to hold a Yakima bike rack once but mostly to carry a large toolbox for camping trips. Easy to install. I kept my plastic air damn on and just cut out a square hole for the hitch.

by: Mark S.09/18/2014

The shipping was quick. Installed easily. The hitch is visible just below the fascia at the bottom of the bumper. I had a front hitch on my previous truck (Tacoma); also from etrailer. I use the front hitch to move my travel trailer into tight spaces.

Originally, with this recent purchase, I had purchased the incorrect item. All it took was an email from the staff at etrailer. The email contained product return instructions along with an RGA#. I just returned yesterday. This extra customer service made the return process quite simple.

With all my needs regarding hitches, etc. I will always check etrailer first.

2004 Chevrolet Silverado

Installation extremely easy, line up holes and bolt together, that simple. No trimming required.
Purchase front hitch to park 29 FT. camper at a cramped storage facility. Dropping the camper off now is as easy as picking up the camper.
All parts well packed. Website easy to use, prices are right and easy to track shipment. Would purchase from website again.

Let first say , working with Emily was great. I had an issue with the first hitch not fitting . She helped me order a new hitch that went without a hitch , no pun intended. New hitch is installed as you can see in the picture. Installation was a snap. Already doing work. Thanks again will buy from you all again.

by: Patrick F11/12/2021

Anything I get from etrailer and Curt hitches always works! This front mounted hitch will be no different, providing I can put it on tomorrow if it’s not raining! I will continue to buy here!

Still working great as all the hitches I have purchased from Curt have done. I will be buying another for my pickup truck as well!

I checked and for the 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 LD I did not have a hitch that would provide a longer receiver opening.

Ashley was very helpful, haven't mounted the hitch yet but did get under their held in place and its going to fit just fine. again thank you much , will do business with you.

My front mount hitch arrived with in days of ordering. I watched the installation instructions video on your site before receiving it and it was a very easy install. Your company deserves 5 gold stars in my book. I'm a very happy customer!!!

by: Robert 10/19/2023

Works perfectly, easy to install,I used it yesterday to move my dump trailer through the woods to the wood shed.

by: David 10/27/2023

Installation was a breeze and easily done with simple hand tools most guys have in the garage. I' 77 and it took a little over an hour. Looks terrific!

Ford Transit Connect

I can’t address the installation as the box arrived torn and some of the nuts and bolts were rattling in the box. Now I have to wait for the missing hardware. The hitch itself looks to be high quality and you would think that quality packaging would be a priority. All it would take is a heavy plastic bag wrapped in cardboard to protect the bag of hardware from ripping open in transit.

by: Brad11/22/2023

Product arrived a day early! Recommend this company for all your Trailer needs.

by: Mark10/28/2021

Good hitch, easy installation, fast shi pping.

Hitch is great, but Im using it on a snow plow that has stabilizer bars that are supposed to align with the hitch crossmember. Because the hitch itself is mounted on the bottom of the crossmember, they do not align.

by: James 03/25/2024

fast safe shipping

by: Charles05/15/2020

Product arrived in a timely manner and was the right fit.. was easier to install than I thought it was going be. Took about 45 minutes. Only gripe is that the bolts that attach to the frame of truck spin even when they are in the metal plate when tightening down. Used a pair of pliers to hold end of bolt while using wrench to tighten. Other than that, exactly what I needed.

2006 GMC Yukon XL

Excellent product and superior customer service. Instructions indicated it would take a professional an hour to install and a normal guy (me?) 2 hours.....well, I had it installed in an hour and five minutes and only busted one knuckle! Simple install, excellent fit, great shopping experience.

  • Recommended Front Mount Hitch for a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500
  • The front mount trailer hitch that I recommend for a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 31302. It's a direct, custom bolt-on option with no drilling required. It has a hidden crosstube design as well so all you'll see is the receiver tube opening.

  • How to Mount Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver on 2002 Chevy Avalanche 1500
  • The Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch, item # 31302, is designed for a no drill, bolt on application on the 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche. According to the instructions, if you install the hitch in the through bumper configuration you will need to cut a 3 inch square hole in the plastic fascia to allow the receiver to be correctly installed. 3 inches takes into account the hitch opening, 2 inches, the steel dimensions, 2-1/2 inches square and the reinforcement flange that is mounted around the

If you are really needing to use the front mount receiver then you will need to remove the guard to do so. • Comparing Curt and Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitches for a 2003 Chevy Silverado 1500
  • It all depends on your 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 is a light duty or a heavy duty. If it is a light duty then I give the edge to Curt, # 31302, because their powder coating holds up well and the hitch is made in the USA. If you have a 1500HD then Draw-Tite hitch # 65028 is more popular but again I would give the edge to Curt # 31108 for the same reasons described above. I have linked videos showing example installations of both hitches for you. In either case both the Curt and Draw-Tite
