Front Mount Trailer Hitch for a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 2WD 4 door Pickup w/ 5.3 V8 new Body Style

Question:

Hi. I want to make sure I get a front hitch which will not require drilling the frame or the hitch for that matter. I am looking at this item Curt Front Hitch #31302. It looks suitible for my 3,000 lb boat/trailer and I only want to make parking it a bit easier. I note the Curt product seems to bolt together, but I am not sure about drilling or welding. I also note one of your satisfied customer reviews stated he had to drill his frame because he may have ordered for the wrong truck model. I do not want to drill my frame. I dont mind a facia trim if absolutely necessary. 1999 and 2000 Sierras came in 2 models: the old C/K type and the newer at the time more rounded shape. I have the newer version. In the subject line I put the exact designation listed on the window sticker of my truck. You have a great price on the Curt product. Any particular reason? Quality? Discontinued? I am not in any hurry but will order as soon as you reply. Please take your time to check this out for me. Thanks. By the way, my first order with you last May/June was handled extremely well. I have told my local boat club members USPS how good the service is. I hope you get more biz. Have a great weekend.

Since you do not want to drill the frame of your 2000 GMC Sierra 1500, you will want to go with the Curt trailer hitch # 31302. The benefit of this hitch is that you can install it with the receiver below the front fascia or to exit out higher which will require trimming in most cases. This is why it bolts to the brackets.

Curt hitches are often times less expensive, but not always. It just depends on the part. The quality of the product is on par with other brands. The Curt hitch is a current part and if it ever does get discontinued, you would not see it on our site.

The 1999 models did see a mid-year change which was reflected in 2000 in the 1500s but the 2500s and 3500s seemed to retain a different design which is why the hitches for the 2000 2500 and 3500 series are different.

I have included a link to the installation instructions for the Curt hitch for you. Thank you for the kind words. We appreciate your support.
