Snowplow Installation

Front or rear mount? Versatility is the SnowSport LT's middle name.

Push frame diagram

Installation is quick and simple - just slide the included shank assembly into your 2" hitch receiver and secure with pin.

Woman lifting blade

Once the plow frame is connected, attach the blade by lifting one end at a time onto the frame's holders. The lightweight aluminum blade construction makes lifting or adjusting an easy, one-person job. Secure the blade in either the transport or plowing position with the plow's snap pins. The low-profile design won't block your headlights, and the transport position is secure enough for highway travel.

How to Plow

Plow

If using with a rear-mount receiver, simply lower the blade to plow position and back up as usual. For a front-mounted plow blade, just drive forward with the blade in the plow position. The unique design takes the hassle out of plowing: This device has no hydraulics or complicated wiring. The push frame on the shank assembly allows the blade to move along the grade of the terrain for easier, more efficient plowing. The heavy-duty rubber cutting edge is effective yet turf friendly, collecting snow and squeegeeing slush without digging into the ground.

Reverse

When you are ready to reverse your driving direction, the blade lies back, skimming over the surface of the ground until you change direction again to plow.

Blade markers help you guide your plow

Handy blade markers extend vertically from the ends of the plow to help you see where you are plowing.

Backing Up

With the SnowSport LT, plowing snow is as easy as backing out of your driveway. Once you are finished plowing, simply lift the blade, refasten it in the transport position and head off for work or errands.

Video Transcript for Front Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Ford F-350

Today on our 2008 Ford F350 Super Duty we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number C31008. Here's what our hitch looks like installed. As you can see it's got a nice black powder-coated finish. Two by two square hole with a 5/8 hitch pin. This would be good for your front mounted winches, cargo carriers, snow plows that will fit into a front mounted hitch, or a bike rack, or even a spare tire mount. It's designed to hold 9,000 pounds of line pull if you're using it for winch. 500 pounds of vertical pressure, and a 5,000 pound gross trailer weight if you're going to be pushing your trailer, or backing it into a space.

You have to notch your air dam a little bit, and other than that it's a complete bolt on design. All hardware is included. From the ground to the top of the receiver tube is about 14 inches. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost part of the front bumper is about 5 inches. Now we can go ahead and show you how to install it. To begin our install we've gone ahead and marked out, held our hitch up in place, and marked out where we're going to to trim our air dam. We're going to cut it a little bit, then we can test fit it until we get it just about where it needs to be.

Now that we've test fit and made our cuts, we're going to go ahead and clean up the hole with a file to make our install look a little nicer. Take all the burrs off on the plastic. We're going to be using two holes on each side of the frame. There's a round one up in here, and we have the oblong hole right back here. This is the one that's going to take our carriage bolt, and this one will just take a regular hex bolt.

They're going to be the same on both sides. Now we can get a second set of hands, and we'll go ahead and raise it up into position. We'll take our fish wire, put it in through the back hole, and we're going to feed it out the front of the frame rail. Then we can take our 9/16 carriage bolt, and we'll attach it to the end of that, and we'll fish it back through. We'll push it up inside of the end of the frame rail, and we're going to pull it through. Once you have it though the hole gently take off your fish wire, careful not to drop it back inside.

Then we'll take our lock washer, and our 9/16 nut, place them on. It may help to take a small flat blade screw driver to keep pressure on it till you get it started. Then we can place our 5/8 bolt in through the frame rail, and it's going to come out up in there. Take our hex bolt, I'm going to place it through the backside, and take our 5/8 flat washer, lock washer and nut, we can snug them down. Then we'll make sure our hitch is level. Take our 15/16 wrench, and go ahead and snug down these two back bolts. You won't need to hold the back side of these rear ones, because there in those oblong holes, and the square part of the carriage bolt is going to lock up against the inside of the hole. We can do the other side. You can take a 7/8 wrench and ratchet, and you can tighten up the two front ones. We'll torque the rear ones first, and then we'll do the fronts, and now we'll repeat on the other side. That's going to do it for our look at and install of the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number C31008, on our 2008 Ford F350 Super Duty.

I had problems with your website but etrailer corrected my issue. I’ll look forward to ordering again.

by: Jesus 11/15/2023

Works good with my snow plows.

by: George 10/10/2023

I just had a chance to finally get it mounted to my truck. The fit is perfect. I have never had any issues with anything that I’ve ever gotten from etrailer.

This is the second front hitch I have purchased from etrailer. As with the first, this was a well built, solid product. It fit my older 2009 Ford Super Duty perfectly. The only thing that was incorrect was in the instructions it called out the tools needed. But the actual sockets needed were larger than called for. Not a big deal, but something to correct moving forward. I mounted the hitch myself in about 45 minutes. Most of that time was getting set up and going looking for the larger sockets. I used a roll around jack, as I did with the first hitch, to lift it into place and be able to move it around. Works well. Everything was A+. Sorry I have no pictures. But it looks great.

Works great. Used many times with moving trailers and a stump grinder. Much easier to line up when pushing the item in front. Also mounted carrier to mount garden sprayer and drove the fence line inside my AC truck instead of on an ATV or lawn tractor.

Bolted right on our F450SD with out having to remove anything.

I was a little surprised with the snow plow. I thought it was going to be hydraulic/electric. It does okay, going on flat and slight declines. Inclines not so good. I also. Bought a rear trailer hitch. Very pleased with it.

by: Jose 09/25/2023

Solid build, perfect fit, nice function ality.

by: DaveH01/22/2015

This is the second "Curt" front hitch that I have purchased. I have not had the opportunity to mount it yet, but the instructions appear to be complete and easy to follow. It arrived UPS ground in about 5 days.

Installation was easy, even for 70yr old bod! Works great, bought it to mount a winch, have also used it to move trailers around the yard.

Heavy Duty and well made. Fairly difficult install because of such tight clearances on the trucks frame members, but I installed it myself in about an hour.

by: Conor F11/10/2019

Ended up using this front receiver way more than I initially expected. Now it’s possible to one person back up my boat into garage...safely. Very easy to install and seems to be high quality. No complaints.

Still working great. Not sure if it is in the description, but this hitch fits chassis cabs trucks, e.g. my truck is a F450 Chassis Cab.

2008 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

The Curt receiver hitch is good quality but if your doing the install yourself from the driveway or garage floor, two floor jacks would be very helpful as the receiver hitch needs to be "snaked" in around the truck structure. The front receiver hitch will give us options for carrying various types of hitch attachments. Thanks e-trailer.

This is the 3rd hitch I have ordered from etrailer.com. First one was for my second daughter's new 2022 Honda, 2nd one was for my 2018 Subaru Forester and this one is for for my 3rd daughter's Ford F-350 Super Duty. etrailer.com has what I need, fast and easy to order, delivered to my front door and it fits every time. -Wally-

After a year the hitch has been very useful in unanticipated ways. Attaching a cargo rack nc we have a kayak rack attached to rear hitch. Hitch still looks new and no rust after first winter. Recommend product and etrailer.com.

Good hitch for the price, I use it for a front cargo carrier for surf fishing, but I'm confident I could pull stuff with it. This fits my 2008 F350. Install wasn't too bad but this thing is heavy, easier with two people.

2010 FordF-250 Super Duty

the Curt front receiver for the 2010 F-250 is an exact fit- and it arrived in good time. I got the Curt rear receiver from etrailer a couple of years ago and it has worked well.
Now I can carry on both front and back. The video provided was a great help.

by: Lee J03/06/2011
FordF-250 Super Duty

On my F-250 4x4 the installation went smoother than expected, working on my back with the truck sitting on the floor. The front end of the frame rails is up inside the bumper assembly, so it's rather tight space to work in, but the entire job took only about an hour. I did NOT have to trim the air dam.

The carrier slid right into place using a floor jack, and it was easy to align the front bolts. Once they were in place the floor jack could be removed. Fishing the rear bolts is a little tricky, but it went surprisingly well once I straightened-out the coiled fish-wire (leaving the bend about 2" from the end, which pops through the hole once it reaches it). To prevent losing the bolts inside the frame I pulled just a portion of the bolt-coils off the bolts' threads and got the nuts started before pulling-off the rest. This results in stretching-out and ruining the bolt-coils on the fish-wires. Curt anticipated this, however, and provided one for each side. That kind of thoughtfulness (and the slight extra cost of providing the second fish-wire) is what distinguishes excellence from merely good-enough.

by: Douglas01/17/2023

Fit just right, it would be nice if there was a wider version that allowed me to keep my front axle protectors on. Doesn't stick out ridiculously far, leaving just enough room in front of the air damper for the pin hole.

by: Terry 01/27/2022

fairly easy to install but 2 people suggested
very
sturdy
If you install a load basket in the receiver, be sure to attach something that helps you remember its there so you dont bump the car in front of you. I used a fiberglass rod I could see from the cab

by: Vince C.07/13/2014

I was very impressed about the quality and fitment of this product. The price was excellent, the shipping time was excellent, and the condition of the product received was also excellent. Of course it said it would take 20 minutes to install, but the reality was more like an hour taking my time and not wanting to damage anything. But still, under an hour was good. Everything went as planned out in the instructions. Overall, I am very please with the product and how it looks on my truck. Keep up the great products you sell!
