Hardwire trailer wiring harnesses such as # C56175 will require using a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to determine the functions of the taillight wires on your 1992 Geo Tracker. You could also use # 119178KIT which comes with a little circuit tester.

The connector that the Hopkins harness, part # HM41245 plugs into is located in the jack storage compartment. The jack storage compartment is located in the cargo area of the vehicle on the driver's side.
Locate the white connector and remove the tape covering the end of it and plug the Hopkins harness into the connector.

Yes, the connection point to add trailer wiring harness # 118372 should be the same on a 1998 and 1999 Chevy Tracker. The connection point is located in the inside of the drivers side tire jack compartment. The plug where you will connect the trailer wiring is just forward of the tire jack compartment. I reached out to my contact at Bestop and they said you will need those clips and they do not have a solution other than to replace them and unfortunately we do not have them.
