Use Circuit Tester to Find Wire Functions to Install Trailer Wiring Harness on 1992 Geo Tracker
Question:
I used your website and found that the C56175 harness works for a 1992 Geo Tracker. Before purchasing I Just want to confirm/determine that this is the correct item that I need. Ive accessed the wiring in the rear of my vehicle... I see that there is a yellow/red wire and a black or possibly brown wire going to each brake light... how do I determine which wire is the turn signal and which is the brake light wire? Do your instructions with this harness specify this for each unique vehicle or is circuit testing required? Thanks for your help!

Expert Reply:
Hardwire trailer wiring harnesses such as # C56175 will require using a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to determine the functions of the taillight wires on your 1992 Geo Tracker. You could also use # 119178KIT which comes with a little circuit tester.
On these harnesses the red wire is for brake lights, yellow is for left turn, green is for right turn, brown is for taillights, and white is ground. After you verify the functions of the wires on your Tracker installation will be easy!
