I went out to the warehouse to measure the wall thickness of the propane tank cover # CAM40564 for you. I used digital calipers to take the measurement and came up with 0.10 inches thick. This is less than 1/8 but more than 1/16 of an inch if you want to look at it that way. The closest fraction would be 7/64 which is hard to determine on most measuring devices! view full answer...
The inlet of the MB Sturgis propane regulator # 108220 is a 1/4 inch NPT fitting although I'm fairly sure I know why you think it seems to be a 1/2 inch.
When reaching out to our friends at MB Sturgis here is how they explain it. If you measure the inside diameter of the female opening you'll get 0.55 inches.
