I have provided photos showing the dimensions of the # 2512 hinge, which you can compare to your existing hinge. This should give you a good idea if the # 2512 hinge will work for you, as I do not have any information about the OEM hinges on your International utility trailer. view full answer...
There is no specific weight capacity listed for the Polar Strap Hinge for Enclosed Cargo Trailer Doors # 2212. I confirmed this with Polar.
When replacing an existing hinge on an enclosed trailer you will want to match the general size and number of hinges originally on the door. This item uses heavy 8-gauge steel material and so it will be up to the task of supporting a trailer door so long as it is roughly the same size as the original. If your door had three hinges of this approximate... view full answer...
The Ramp Door Hinge # PLR1902 isn't tested for a specific weight capacity. However, it is intended to be used on heavy trailer doors. view full answer...
While it is possible that the Stainless Steel Hinge, # SH300, will work for your application, I believe that there are better and more reliable options. A co-worker here used 3 of the Greasable Hinge Pin, # HP12412G, for a similar application and that is what he recommends using over the piano hinge. view full answer...
Polar doesn't have any weight ratings on their hinges, but if you alternated the use of a continuous hinge, like part # H300, and a Ramp Door Hinge, like part # PLR1902, it should work well under the 800 lb load you mentioned. I confirmed this with my contact at Polar .
Attached is a list of our available door hinges for you to reference as well. view full answer...
The Strap Hinge for Trailer Doors, part # 2512 do not have a weight rating listed.
These are made of heavy-duty 8 gauge zinc-plated steel and measure 12-inches long. For a heavier door you may want to use an additional hinge to make sure they can handle the weight. view full answer...
I do have a solution for you as when I reached out to Marlboro Manufacturing who produces these piano hinges. They do not have any weight capacity ratings for their piano style hinges that you are looking at.
They do offer their Weld-On Hinge with Stainless Steel Bushing and Pin # MA46ZR that will work well for your doors. They have a weight capacity of 648lbs per hinge, making a set of 2 more than enough capacity for your door. view full answer...
The hinge rotation is going to depend on the design of the T-strap hinge. For example, the Square Corner T-Strap Hinge w/ Reverse Bracket # PLR4040 is capable of a 270 degree rotation based on its design. The # PLR3408 only allows for 180 degrees of rotation. Unless something else is blocking them or limiting the movement, it is likely that 90 degrees is the limit of the hinges you currently have.
I have attached a link to all of our available T-strap hinges if you would like to try to... view full answer...
I went out to the warehouse and pulled a Strap Hinge for Enclosed Cargo Trailer Doors, # 2512. I took some measurements and I have made you a photo that shows them. I have included the picture here for you. view full answer...
The Butt Hinge w/ Non-Removable Pin # MA37ZR is 0.180" thick or approximately 3/16". It works great for heavy-duty trailer doors or ramp doors that typically require multiple hinges. view full answer...
On a hinged trailer ramp the hinges will carry a varying portion of the ramp weight depending on the ramp's position. When fully opened/extended the torsion spring will actually be holding more of the ramp's weight that when it is almost fully raised. In the fully vertical position more of the ramp weight is on the hinges since the ramp will be more directly over them.
The M-3 Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring # CB250D96SHD can lift 250-lbs of ramp weight. You can use a scale to weigh your... view full answer...
I checked with my contact at the manufacturer regarding the Over the Seal Strap Hinge # PLR2116. It does not have a particular weight rating. This unit is designed to bridge door molding or a door seal. It is made in the USA and made from high quality steel.
For a move heavy duty product I recommend Hinge # PLR109-SS to mount your swinging barn doors. view full answer...
When it comes to The T-Strap Hinge w/ Wide Bracket for Enclosed Trailers - 12 inch Long - 180 Degree - Stainless Steel # PLR2012-SSP the manufacturer does not rate them. There are too many variables to affect the strength. How heavy the doors are, how many hinges are used, where the weight of the door is centered, is it on a fixed structure or on a moving truck.
I attached a review video link below. view full answer...
The Strap Hinge for Enclosed Cargo Trailer Doors # 2008-8 does not come with hardware. The reason for that is the hinge can be attached to wood, steel, aluminum, fiberglass and so on, all of which would require a different fastener.
I went out to the warehouse and pulled one to measure the hole diameter for you. All of the holes have a 0.32 inch opening so a 5/16 inch fastener would probably be the best option. view full answer...
I checked with the manufacturer, Polar, about the Ramp Door Hinge part # PLR1902 and they unfortunately do not list a weight capacity as much of this would come down to how it's installed, the number used, and the quality of the welding. That said, it has a heavy duty 1/4" pin and it's designed for larger trailer ramp doors so if installed properly it can support a lot of weight. view full answer...
The Polar Ramp Door Hinge # PLR1902 referenced in your question has a 1/2 inch internal pin diameter. As you mentioned, the outer diameter of the hinge is 1 inch. The steel hinge also features a grease fitting to allow for a long life and smooth operation.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this product that you can also check out. view full answer...
The 2" Wide Continuous Aluminum Hinge # PLR846 can be cut down and used for virtually any length. The longer that you can leave the hinge the stronger it will be. This hinge will be plenty strong enough for your 65lb storage door on your 2003 Bluebird. view full answer...
I reached out to Polar and they don't rate their hinges for weight capacity. Most of the time they recommend using 2 to 4 hinges per door for an enclosed trailer.
For a Square Corner Hinge with Reverse Bracket - Aluminum - 16" # PLR2216-AS, they simply say the more weight, the more hinges needed. view full answer...
The Polar Hardware Dump Door Hinge, Steel # PLR1904-Z that you referenced does not have a weight rating according to my contact at Polar. The installation will largely dictate the weight this hinge will be able to handle. This hinge is made of 1/4 inch thick steel, so you most likely will be held to the strength of your weld on the 1 inch wide bracket. I've attached a video to help further. view full answer...
I went to our warehouse to check the dimensions for the mounting holes on the Polar Strap Hinge for Enclosed Cargo Trailer Doors # 2512.
The two holes on the smaller end of the hinge measure 0.4-inches (10mm) and the three holes on the larger end measure 0.34-inches (8.5mm) in diameter.
Since this item is galvanized you'll want to use galvanized hardware (or stainless steel) for installation on your trailer. view full answer...
