Hello Ron. You are correct that the Kuat Transfer V2 # KU84FR is not recommended to be used on a hitch attached to a bumper. Even with the safety struts added, we still cannot recommend doing this. Using a bumper mounted hitch is definitely going to limit your options for a bike rack. Our best option for this is the Kuat Piston Pro Bike Rack # KU76ZR.
