Generally, you don't need additional lighting when using a tow dolly that already has lights. However, it's not a bad idea to check with the local laws in the states you'll be traveling in. If you do need to have lights on the vehicle you could use the magnetic LED tow light kit part # TLL21RK and to add a 4-way to your tow vehicle's wiring you would want the part # 18252 which would wire into the current trailer wiring. view full answer...
Hey Nick, so the Roadmaster Supplemental Braking System part # RM-9160 does not come with a lighting/wiring solution for your tow vehicle. It just covers everything needed to install the braking system.
For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that... view full answer...
The Curt Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # C96JR can be used with your LEDs, the only caveat is that if your Jeep has ParkSense proximity sensors then you'd need to use the Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-152-98146-7 instead. view full answer...
Hi Chris,
Yes, the Demco LED Light Bar for Towed Vehicles w/ Wireless Transmitter # DM36MV is approved and legal for flat towing your vehicle. It's designed to attach to the rear window with a suction cup and face rearward so that others on the road can clearly see your light signals. There could be separate laws depending on the area you're traveling through so you'll need to check with those municipalities but you really shouldn't have an issue unless your rear window is dirty and not... view full answer...
Hey Cheryl, on a vehicle with a soft top like your 2009 Jeep Wrangler you'd need to attach magnetic lights like the part # C6304 to the bumper of since that's where metal would be. view full answer...
The Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-152-98146-7 would be a great option to transfer your motorhome's traffic signals to the tail lights of the Equinox. You can install a converter # 118158 and two additional diodes # RM-790 will be needed if you want to retain separate turn and brake signals on the Equinox. This is only connecting to the tail lights and would not need to splice into the brake light switch.
You'd only need to tap into the brake light switch... view full answer...
Hi Mike,
The Roadmaster Smart Diode # RO54FR is designed for use specifically with LED tail lights so if your towed vehicle has incandescent bulbs you'll need part # RO34FR instead. These should properly read your motorhome and vehicle traffic signals to display the signals correctly through your incandescent tail lights. view full answer...
Hey Ron, so we have tow bar lighting solutions that will work great on your 2002 GMC Yukon but we don't have any that are plug and play. There's only a few vehicles that have that style of lighting available and due to the age of your Yukon there isn't one available.
So instead you would want the Roadmaster diode kit part # RM-15247 which splices into your taillight wiring to allow the RV to control the vehicle taillights. The install is a little more involved but these kits are super... view full answer...
Thanks for reaching out, Steve!
For a 60" light strip we have the Premium Slim LED Strip Light # TN38ZR which is weatherproof and rated for 3,638 Lumens. You'll need the Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connectors # DW05744-10 to make your connections and you'll also need to tap into the reverse light function on your tow vehicle with the wiring kit # 20036 as well as change your trailer connector to a 5-Way with part # HM37918 so everything will match up. view full answer...
Hey Bill, yes the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland does need the brake light relay part # RM-88400 with the supplemental braking kits that fit the vehicle like the Blue Ox Patriot part # BLU37TR. view full answer...
While I have no way to help you with the front bumper or the grill I may be able to help you with the side parking light. You will most likely need to find the bumper and grill from an RV salvage yard or a vintage trailer parts dealer. In looking at images it appears you have lights like the Optronics # MCL36AB. I have no way to verify this as the manufacturer did not keep public records on their vehicles. The light is 2-7/8" wide and 2-1/8" tall. If this does not match what you have please... view full answer...
Hey Richard!
The running light function will be the wire that was closest to the ground pin on the Curt Auxiliary LED Indicator Lights # C53201 4-way connector. I haven't stripped back the cover on this kit before so I don't have any hands-on experience with what you're doing, but I can say that the ground pin is the covered one and then the next one next to it is the one you want to connect your registration plate light to.
Attached is a photo of the vehicle side pin out for a 4-way... view full answer...
So this will depend on if you want an in cab monitor like the Coachlink # SM99945 or a light in your flat towed vehicle like what comes with the basic Demco Air Force One # SM99243. I have linked the instructions for the Air Force One near the bottom of the page and you will want to go to page 26 where you can see the installation start for the LED Monitor Light # SM99612. Then you will need to check and ensure you have the Reed Switch # DM65MV which you can see on page 27 of the instructions.... view full answer...
If your 2020 Jeep Gladiator activates the brake lights when the brake pedal is pressed with the key off then with the install of the SMI DUO part # SM99251 you will also need to install the brake lite relay part # RM-88400 so that the stoplights of the vehicle do not override the taillight circuits of the tow bar lighting kit you have installed.
Its hard to say how long the battery would last but you can use the charge kit part # RM-156-25 to keep the battery topped off when travelling. view full answer...
Hey Joshua,
If you're needing everything for the vehicle side of the Demco Air Force One kit then you'll want to pick up part # SM99209. For the lighting you'll need the Roadmaster Smart Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Wiring Kit for Variable Voltage Incandescent Tail Lights # RM26FR.
The only other thing you'll need to pick up is a charge line kit # RM-156-25 to keep the battery charged while you tow since it will discharge otherwise. view full answer...
I recommend pairing the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118683 with the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76194 you found for your 2019 Volvo XC90 T6 Inscription. This harness will provide you with a 4-way flat to operate the lights on most small trailers. It plugs in line of your existing tail light wiring so there is no reprogramming of your Volvo's computer. If you are going to pull a larger trailer that requires an electric trailer brake controller you are going to also need... view full answer...
Hey Rodney, good question so there isn't a single harness that will do both a tow bar lighting and trailer wiring solution but you can install both at the same time. So for trailer wiring you could use the Tekonsha part # 118786 and then for the tow bar lighting kit you'd want the part # C96JR. Basically the two kits would plug into each other and then back into your vehicle. view full answer...
For your 2022 Ford F-150 you will want the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate # RM38VR. The Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All-Terrain Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-422 is a great option as it is a very rugged bar that is rated well above the curb weights of both your F-150 and the 2018 Ford Expedition. The Roadmaster Accessory Kit # RM-9243-3 will provide you with the safety cables and the wiring to use on your Expedition. For your F-150 you will need either the Incandescent Kit # RM26FR or LED Kit... view full answer...
Hey Dan,
If you already have the dolly and just need some lights then you can just use some magnetic lights like the Optronics # TL21RK. These simply plug into the 4-pole connector on your motorhome to transfer the signals back to the lights that you can stick on the roof at the back of the vehicle. Any excess cable can be round up and secured in place by the windshield wipers.
If you haven't picked out a tow dolly yet then I recommend the Roadmaster Tow Dolly with Electric Brakes #... view full answer...
