If you're using the wrong plug to connect your trailer, that might be the issue right there. If you don't have something already, you can use the Adapter 7-Pole to 6-Pole # 47549 to adapt your 6 way trailer to your 7 way truck.
If not, this type of error usually happens when there's an issue relating with the blue brake output wire that runs from the brake controller to the 7-Way connector.
Since you've already had your wiring tested and you tested a different trailer and it works,... view full answer...
First I recommend testing the 4-way on a different trailer otherwise you could use a Tester # I26 or Test Light # PTW2993 to verify the issue is not with the Curt 4-Way # C56325 or your 2020 Chevrolet Blazer.
If you have verified the issue does not repeat itself on another trailer or with a tester then the issue is most likely related to a ground issue. It may be the ground connection from the trailer to the trailers 4-way is not making good contact and is causing your issue.

There's a couple of things that could be causing the Trailer Disconnected error to keep popping up on your dash. If your lights aren't working on the trailer you will want to check both the 7-way on your F-350 and the one on your trailer to make sure there isn't corrosion or frayed wires. You can use a wire tester like item # PTW2993 to make sure you're getting power to the circuits.
If the lights on your trailer are functioning correctly then it is most likely the blue brake controller... view full answer...
With the plug and play installation and your ground wire set it is unlikely the controller or what you did during installation is the problem. Then again, it wouldn't hurt to unplug the wiring harness and plug it back in to make sure it is properly seated. After that, I would check my trailer connectors.
If the vehicle or trailer side connector has some corrosion or damage this could cause the error on the # 90195. Go ahead and inspect them and clean as necessary. If that doesn't fix it... view full answer...
Hey Bill thanks for your question. Like you said there are several things that can cause an intermittent trailer disconnected message. The most common cause is a rusty or corroded trailer connector. Go ahead and inspect the trailers 7-way plug. If there is noticeable rust or corrosion it will need to be replaced with something like the 7-Way Round RV Style Trailer Connector # A7WCB. I suggest using a bit of Dielectric Grease # 11755 on the trailer plug and the vehicles 7-way.
It is ok... view full answer...
More than likely you have an actual short or something is loose. There should be no correlation between the trailer being hooked up to the ball mount of your truck and the trailer brakes. The only thing that really makes any sense is that there is a difference in angles between the two and it is enough for wiring to be in a different position triggering the error when lowered on the ball.
Double check your trailer connectors and make sure they aren't damaged and the wiring is secure.... view full answer...
That is definitely a strange problem you are having Brad. Especially with the right turn signal working but the brake light is not since they both are powered off the same wire. I would start by checking your ground connections both at the lights and the ground from the trailer to the vehicle. You can try using a loose piece of jumper wire from the trailer lights to the vehicle to see if that helps to resolve the issues you are having. If that fixes it you know there is an issue with the... view full answer...
Are you getting any errors related to the brakes? It looks like the 2019 Silverado 3500 detects the trailer through the running light circuit so it may not be brake related. I would start by double checking the vehicle and trailer connectors for damage or corrosions. I would also check all of your ground connections and make sure there is no damaged wiring on the trailer.
If it also gives you brake related errors it could be brakes themselves or the brake controller. The P3 # 90195 can... view full answer...
Hey Karl,
The trailer running lights shouldn't be receiving power unless the running lights in the Ram are on. I'd doublecheck the wiring for the vehicle's running lights to see if power is somehow getting sent to the trailer running lights. You could have a short or knick in the wiring somewhere and it's touching the wire to provides power to the trailer running light fuse, causing the constant power to the trailer running lights. view full answer...
Thanks for reaching out, Lisa!
Trailer wiring can be a bit confusing at times but the best piece of advice I can give is for you to ditch the colors of the wiring and focus more on what circuits they are connected to.
For example, the Hopkins 7-Way RV Style Connector with Molded Cable # H20046 uses the following functions for the following wires on the harness:
White Wire - Ground
Red Wire - Left Turn and Brake
Brown Wire - Right Turn and Brake
Green Wire - Tail Lights
Blue Wire - Brake... view full answer...
Hi Teri,
We can get you a bike rack for your E-Pro travel trailer, but first you'll need a hitch (assuming one is not already on the camper). For that you'll need the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22" to 72" Wide # 13703.
This can be welded or bolted onto your trailer and gives you a 2" hitch for a rack. The rack does need to be travel-trailer approved, and for that use the Swagman Nomad Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # S36FR.
What I like about the Nomad is it's 8" rise so... view full answer...
Hey Kevin, I would try connecting to a trailer and towing to see if it actually works or not. Most likely the issue is a bit of corrosion on the trailer wiring though so you should try sanding the pins of the pins of the 7-way and see if that changes anything. view full answer...
Hi Al,
There is not a standalone 7-way tester that works with your Volvo with the factory trailer wiring. This is a pretty common problem with these vehicles so what you would need to do is use a standard 7-way tester like # C66NR but also add the 7-Way Trailer Adapter for Towing Trailers with LED Lights # C57003. view full answer...
It sounds like you've ruled out the vehicle along with the trailer side connector which doesn't leave much to check. Then again, I'm not 100% sure what diagnostics they ran on your vehicle so it wouldn't hurt to double check the vehicle connector. Make sure no corrosion or debris is present. Assuming that is fine, double check the pins for your signals using a circuit tester like # PTW2993. After that I would be looking at the ground connection on the trailer. Make sure it is secure on... view full answer...
Ford F-150's are an odd bunch when it comes to connecting to trailer wiring for some reason. While we haven't seen this exact issue it does not surprise me. It typically has to do with the 12 volt accessory circuit of the trailer wiring though so that would be where I would be inclined to start. If trailer has aluminum frame make sure you have a jumper wire from the ground harness back to the trailer wiring connector. view full answer...
The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 does not need to be connected to the trailer to adjust the settings for the screen on your controller. As far as the issues with the brakes locking up at lower speeds with the manual switch you might check your boost settings and how high your controller is dialed in. Ideally under hard braking you want the brakes at the point that they just start to lock up. You can use the boost settings along with the sensitivity settings to dial in the braking where it... view full answer...
You could honestly have a problem on either the vehicle side or the trailer side. The best way to check is by using either a different vehicle or trailer to see if the problem duplicates. If you do not have another trailer or vehicle with a 7-way a Test Light # PTW2993 or 7-Way Tester # PK12741 can be used to verify if your vehicle wiring is correct.
Often times when you have a wiring issue like you describe it is from the tail lights being connected backwards on the trailer. You may... view full answer...
Hello Nathan,
Thank you for your purchase from etrailer of the Draw-Tite Brake Controller # TK63VR. For intermittent brake controller operation like yours, the ground is certainly the first thing I'd look at. If you hardwired the controller, make sure the ground to the negative battery terminal is solid and not potentially loose.
The other thing that may be happening is an issue with the 7-way connectors. Often, corrosion or dirt may be the cause of a short in a trailer connector. Check... view full answer...
Hey Mark,
What gauge wire did you use to run from the junction box to the brake assemblies? If you didn't use at least 10AWG wire # 10-1-1 that could explain the heat build up and voltage drop. I don't recommend leaving the manual override clamped for long periods of time. I recommend reconnecting your brake assemblies, activating the manual override, and then then testing both wires coming from the brake magnets to see if there's voltage on both wires. Only one should have voltage and... view full answer...
Hey Paul, try connecting to a trailer and seeing if the lights work like they should. A lot of modern trucks require a trailer connection to be sensed before the trailer wiring circuits are completely active. view full answer...
