  • Can Trunk on 2018 Chevy Volt be Opened with Trunk Mount Bike Rack Installed
  • Excellent choice on a bike rack! The Yakima FullBack # Y02634 is easier to install than a lot of other trunk mount racks and will look great on your 2018 Chevy Volt. The only trunk mount rack that I know of that allows you to lift your trunk or hatch without removing the rack is the Thule OutWay but it only fits certain vehicles and isn't confirmed to fit your Chevy Volt. You'll want to remove the bikes and rack because the rack could shift and it will be added weight to the lid so that...

  • Fitting the Thule OutWay Trunk Mount Bike Rack on a 2013 Chevy Volt
  • The Thule OutWay # TH45JV is listed as a fit on the 2013 Chevy Volt from Thule so it can be mounted on the car. What you are describing as potential problems is the way that the rack should be mounted. When properly secured to the vehicle the top straps and the lower legs will bear the weight. The lower straps keep the lower legs from going anywhere. Make sure that it is set to FitDial setting 8. The arms that hold the bikes should be as level as they can be. Having the top arm on the...

  • Will Safety Chains Damage Bumper On 2018 Chevy Volt With EcoHitch Invisi Trailer Hitch Receiver
  • I spoke with EcoHitch about the EcoHitch Invisi Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7338 and they stated that you'd actually run the safety chains behind the bumper from underneath to avoid them hanging down and causing damage. If you are still worried however you could use the Roadmaster 20" Safety Cable Extensions part # RM-910648-20 which are coated so even if contact were to occur it would not cause damage.

  • Trailer Hitch Installation on a 2013 Chevy Volt
  • I have always liked the Chevy Volt. I like the tail lights and look of the rear end. We have not had the chance yet to install Curt trailer hitch # C11221 on a 2013 Chevy Volt. But if you are near Wentzville, Missouri we would love to have the vehicle in to do some test fits! I have included a link to the installation instructions for you though. If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use...

  • Location of Curt Class I Hitch # C11221 on 2012 Chevrolet Volt For Hitch Bike Rack
  • We have not had the opportunity to install the Curt Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # C11221, on a 2012 Chevrolet Volt at this time. I am including a link to the installation instructions on the Curt hitch that will show good pictures of where the hitch is located on the Volt in relation to the backup light. It looks like it is located right underneath the backup light. If you will be using this hitch to carry a bike rack you will need to make sure and choose a bike rack that is designed...

  • Bolt Size of Receiver Tube Bolt of the EcoHitch # 306-X7180 on a 2012 Chevy Volt
  • I believe you are referring to the invert adapter where the hitch tube connects to the rest of the EcoHitch Stealth # 306-X7180. That bolt is a 1/2” x 2-1/2” bolt. You are correct that this is a single point of failure. I went ahead and attached photos of this bolt attached to the receiver tube. If you wish to have a more stable hitch receiver tube connection point, on your 2012 Chevy Volt, I recommend the EcoHitch Invisi Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 306-X7186. The receiver...

  • Does EcoHitch for 2013 Chevy Volt Have Classification
  • The EcoHitch part # 306-X7186 does not have an official hitch Classification but it is the most similar to a Class III due to it's 2 inch hitch size and weight capacities. Hitch Classes are really just ways to organize the hitches by size and capacity so if you already know that info the Class doesn't offer you anything beyond that.

  • Does the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver Cause a Blind Spot on 2016-2019 Chevy Volt?
  • No, the EcoHitch Invisi Trailer Hitch Receiver item # 306-X7338 doesn't create a blind spot. That RF sensor that sits behind the bumper trim and bumper bar gets moved at the 8 min mark in the installation video I have attached. The proximity and back up sensors are inside the bumper trim. When the hitch receiver is installed its behind the license plate bracket and completely hidden.
