I first recommend checking to make sure the tire is properly inflated to the maximum psi listed on the tire's sidewall. If the tire is under-inflated, the sides of the tire tread will wear quickly.
If the tire is inflated properly, then it's very possible that there is an issue with the trailer's suspension components or axle/spindle. If a traditional converter is not enough to power the all of the lights on your trailer (usually if there are too many lights, some of them might rapidly blink or not power on or be very dim), you would need a powered converter like the # C59496, that has a separate connection to the vehicle battery to power the lights.

You will need to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 and check the wire for the right turn signal that is going into the converter box. If it has power going into the box, then you will need to check the wire for the right turn signal coming out of the converter box.

It sounds like the converter has gone bad in wiring harness # C55355 for your 2003 Chevrolet Venture. This can occur from a number of reasons. Corrosion buildup could cause a short. Check the trailer side and vehicle side connectors for corrosion and clean it out.

It sounds like the controller might have an internal short that is feeding back into the vehicle, causing the brake light to illuminate.
You can test this by using a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 on the red wire exiting the rear of the controller. There should be no voltage on that wire unless the brake pedal is pressed. If you see any intermittent voltage, it would indicate a short in the controller, which would then need to be replaced.
