I do not recommend cutting the plugs off of the # 118747 and hardwiring it. The module is not intended to be hardwired, and would not function correctly. They mentioned that on some models with your aero package they have a removable lower splitter that attaches to your fins on the lover valance. I have another option for you, but the Thule Apex XT 4 Bike Rack # TH9025XT you were looking at measures 7-1/4" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the bike rack, and when we had a chance to install the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76082 on a 2016 Mercedes Benz GLC like yours we found that from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outward edge of the bumper measured 6". You could use this one, but it is pretty close with 1-1/4 inches of clearance.

According to Tekonsha, it's the PO3 Premium package that would prevent the # 118747 as the connectors on the taillight wiring harness are different. From what you describe, I'd agree, it doesn't seem like you have the PO3 package, but you could provide your VIN to your Mercedes dealer who can look up your vehicle and see exactly how it was configured.
