The only trailer hitch available for the 1999 Ford Escort ZX2 is a Class I hitch # C11105. The recommended ball mount is # C45520. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19257 and for a 2 inch use # 19258. For trailer wiring use # 118344 to add a 4-Way flat connector to the rear of the vehicle.
If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class I trailer hitch. Also, with a bike rack, you are limited... view full answer...

I spoke with Yakima about your Yakima Quarter ROC Bike Rack 8002533 and they stated that this bike rack was discontinued in 2001 and the hitch bolt is not a replaceable part. I asked if they have any dimensions of this bolt but they could not advise due to it's age. Therefore the only option I have for you is a full replacement for which I recommend the Thule Camber 2 Bike Rack part # TH9058.
The Thule Camber 2 like your Quarter ROC is gong to last you another 20 years or even longer... view full answer...
You should start by consulting the vehicle owners manual for the proper towing procedure for the Escort. In my research I found that the manual transmission Escort can be flat towed but the automatic transmission models require a transmission lube pump before they can be flat towed.
There are 5 items that you will need to flat tow a vehicle. First, you will need to install base plates on the vehicle. The base plates provide a safe attachment point for the tow bar. For a 1997 Ford Escort... view full answer...
According to Blue Ox, the # BX2151 base plate kit you referenced is indeed a fit for your 1999 Ford Escort SE.
I do have a photo showing the base plates installed on the vehicle, plus a diagram from the instructions that I'll provide.
I'll also link you some articles about flat towing that you might find helpful. view full answer...
The Thule OutWay Platform-Style 2 Bike Trunk Rack, part # TH65JV, will fit the 2001 Ford Escort. It has a weight capacity of 35 lbs. per bike. I had the chance to install this rack on a vehicle at a sales presentation and it is very easy to install and remove. It is also very adjustable for carrying different styles of bikes on the rack. I am including a link to a video review on the Thule bike rack.

The Roadmaster Base Plate kit part # 427-8 that you referenced has been confirmed as a fit for your 1998 Ford Escort ZX2 so it should work well for yours that has fog lights.
In addition to the base plates, you will also need a compatible tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking to flat tow your vehicle. The most popular compatible tow bar is the Falcon 2, # RM-520. For safety cables you can use # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground.

To flat tow a vehicle you will need at least 5 items: base plates, tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking. For base plates I recommend # 427-3 because they fit both GT and non-GT models of the 1994 Ford Escort.
For a compatible tow bar you can use the Falcon 2 # RM-520. Or for a more economical option you can use the Tracker # RM-020. If you go with the Tracker tow bar you will also need quick disconnects # RM-201 to make it easily removable.
For either tow bar you... view full answer...
Race # L68110 is commonly associated with grease seal # 168233. Seal # 168233 has an inner diameter of 1.688 inches and an outer diameter of 2.332 inches. To ensure that this seal will work with your hub and spindle, I would recommend using a dial caliper to measure your spindle and hub.
I have attached a photo showing where to measure on the spindle and hub to choose the correct grease seal for your application. view full answer...

The short answer is that any bag can be installed on the roof of your 1995 Ford Escort Wagon with factory crossbars. You will have to look at the bag measurements to determine if they will fit in between the crossbars or if they will need to rest on top of the bars.
If a bag will have to touch the roof, I recommend making sure that the bottom of the bag and roof are both clean to avoid scratches. I also recommend using Non-Skid Roof Protection Pad, # RL100650. You will also want to consult... view full answer...
Because the 1999 Escort Wagon uses a separate bulb for the turn signals, and would need a taillight converter, the # C55344 would not be compatible with your Escort wagon.
To combine the brake light and turn signal onto a single circuit like the lights on the trailer, you will need to use a hardwired tail light converter like the # 119178KIT.
The wires on the input side of the converter would wire directly into the taillight circuits of your Escort wagon. The easiest way to access the... view full answer...

To equip your Escort for towing, you will need 5 parts. A hitch, ball mount, pin and clip or hitch lock, trailer ball, and a wiring harness to supply lighting for your trailer.
I recommend the Curt Class I Receiver Hitch, part # C11105, with ball mount # C45520 and pin and clip # F-4. All you will need is a hitch ball, for that you can use part # 19256. For more security, you could use a hitch lock, part # e98879 in place of the pin and clip. To wire your vehicle for the trailer lighting,... view full answer...
A converter is not necessary. You can treat the Escort as though it does not have the amber turn signals. They will still function when you drive the Escort, but when you tow it behind the RV the system is simplified to the RV 4 Wire system.
There are wiring diagrams towards the bottom of the tow bar wiring kits we have, like part # RM-154. Look for the image labeled Combined RV to Separate Towed Vehicle.
I have added a link to a video of a tow bar wiring install on a 2006 Jeep Liberty... view full answer...
