That's a pretty common question as it is simpler than running the 12 volt hot lead to your battery, but you cannot use the drivers side cargo area power port on your 2022 Volkswagen Atlas to install the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C67WR.
The reason why is this is the only way to ensure your VW's wiring is not otherwise affected (by tapping into it) and that you have consistent 12 volt power. view full answer...
I cannot speak for the VW Trailer Wiring Harness 3CN055203A but the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56383 that we offer plugs in behind the tail lights so it will not require any reprogramming/coding. The VW Trailer Wiring Harness you are referring to most likely plugs into a tow port on your 2018 Volkswagen Atlas which is why reprogramming is required to activate the circuits. The Curt option like the factory option offers plug and play install but without the added cost... view full answer...
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13366 is a great option for adding a hitch to your 2019 Volkswagen Atlas although we don't have an etrailer branded hitch currently that is a confirmed fit for this vehicle. This hitch will do the job for you whether you're looking to carry bikes, additional cargo, or towing. The black gloss finish looks great and will help resist corrosion for a long life of use on your Atlas.

Running the power wire to the battery for a trailer wiring harness such as # 118754 for your 2018 Volkswagen Atlas isn't actually all that difficult. It just takes time. While I do not know specifically where you would need to route the wiring on the Atlas there are some common methods for running a power wire.
I actually wrote a help article covering this topic which I have linked below for you. view full answer...
What you are saying makes sense to me. As long as your scupper holes are larger than 5/16" in diameter, the etrailer Cable Lock # e98891 will fit through the holes. It seems like a pretty ingenious way to secure your kayaks, especially given that most kayaks do not have great locking points.
The other nice thing about the etrailer Cable Lock # e98891 is that if you order more than 1 and select the keyed alike option, you can have one key that operates all of the locks. view full answer...
Yes, for your 2019 Volkswagen Atlas, the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbar System part # TH711400 and part # TH710401 would be a good option so you can open your glass roof. view full answer...
Are you looking for trailer wiring for your 2020 Volkswagen Atlas? The connector in your picture matches what the Curt trailer wiring harness part # C56383 fits to so I believe this is what you are needing. view full answer...
Since we have not yet had a chance to install Curt 4-Pole wiring harness # C56383 on a 2018 VW Atlas we do not yet have a video to share with you to show the scuff panel removal. I was not able to access an online owner's manual for the 2018 Atlas but it is possible that the printed manual that came with your car may have details about trim panel removal. As you noted, Curt's written instructions (Step 3) are not very detailed about the removal of this plastic trim piece so I contacted... view full answer...
I would be happy tp help you with the installation of the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 on your 2018 Volkswagen Atlas.
Start off by connecting the 4-Way/7-Way adapter to the 4-Way, like part # 118754, for the basic trailer lighting functions and installing the adapter on your hitch with the included bracket. A no-drill bracket like part # 18140 can be used to easily mount this to your trailer hitch crosstube. After this is done you will use the self-tapping screw to ground the white wire... view full answer...
Your 7 Pin connector should be active, especially if it was factory installed. You can test the connector with a circuit tester like our # PTW2992 when the vehicle is on. Then shut it off and test again to see if your connector is still drawing power with the engine off.
If it is not active there is either a blown or missing fuse (check your owner's manual for location), or it possibly did not come active from the factory. In which case you can run a wire from the battery to the 7-way... view full answer...
I checked with Rhino-Rack and the crossbar spacing for their roof rack on a 2020 VW Atlas Cross Sport should be between 27-9/16" and 31-1/2". The correct fit is the following:
- Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA137B-2
- Rhino-Rack SX Series Legs # RR64VJ
Even if you have the crossbars with the correct spacing, there may still be wind noise, and by far the best option to remedy that is with a wind fairing:
- Rhino-Rack Fairing for Roof Racks - 44" Long # RRRF3 view full answer...
I did some checking and it looks like the front wheel drive versions of your 2018 Volkswagen Atlas can be towed behind a motorhome with a tow dolly like the Demco # DM9713045 but none of the versions can be towed with all 4 wheels on the ground. The all wheel drive versions can be towed only on a trailer.
Towing with a tow dolly has a few advantages over tow bar towing in that the install is much easier, the price is often less overall, and if you ever want to tow a different vehicle... view full answer...
I checked the installation instructions, linked for reference, for hitch # C13366. There is no trimming mentioned to install the hitch on a 2018 Volkswagen Atlas!
If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not have the right... view full answer...
You are not doing anything wrong at all; with the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76176 that fits your 2021 VW Atlas, it is possible that on some vehicles the fascia will need to be trimmed in order for the receiver to protrude properly.
That isn't the case with all, but for whatever reason, Draw-Tite did not mention this in the instructions. So you'll want to measure the area so the # 76176 receiver can extend correctly, likely about a 3-1/2" wide x 2-1/2" long section. view full answer...
That's a good question, but coil springs like the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs # F4175 do not have to fill up the entire vertical space of the spring during installation. What you are seeing in regards to photos is likely the spring during the installation process with the vehicle up on a lift (like in the accompanying photo).
At this time there is no weight on the suspension, the the springs are extended all the way, but when the vehicle's weight, particularly with a load,... view full answer...
The Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs # F4175 will work great on your 2018 Volkswagen Atlas. This kit can and has been installed by many people at home. It helps if you can get your hands on a set of car ramps to get the rear of the vehicle in the air a bit to give you more room to work but other than that the installation is very straight forward.
I also recommend picking up a T-Fitting # F3025-1 so that it make inflating and deflating the air bags much easier. view full answer...
For your 2018 Volkswagen Atlas SE the hitch I suggest for your bike transport application is the Draw-Tite 2-inch Class III model # 76176. This hitch offers a substantial 900-lb tongue weight rating, making it easily capable of handling even the highest-capacity and heaviest 2-inch hitch bike racks out there. If your use is towing a motorcycle trailer this hitch again has the capacity you need and then some.
The Curt hitch you referenced, part # C13366, has identical weight ratings. The... view full answer...
The Malone AirFlow2 roof rack crossbars do not lock onto the towers, but the crossbars absolutely will not slide back and forth when on the towers (as an aside, for protection, the feet do lock onto your vehicle's raised side rails).
The 58 inch AirFlow2 is available in either silver or black, the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack - Silver # MPG216 or Black # MAL84AR. view full answer...
The Tekonsha Trailer Wiring Circuit Tester # 8010 reading that you have 3 axles for the brake function just means that there is a bit more resistance on that circuit than what you'd normally find for a 2 axle setup.
With this being the case you'll just want to check to make sure all of your grounds and connections are clean and properly secured. Pay a little closer attention to the ground for the brakes as a bad ground can cause issues.
If everything looks fine than you're good to go! view full answer...
Our installers normally will use tin snips and utility knives to trim the fascias of the vehicles to install hitches like the EcoHitch part # 306-X7362 but a rotary tool like a dremol would also work really great for a quick method that will look good too. view full answer...
