Sounds like you have a wiring short most likely due to a wiring issue where the brake controller is connected to your truck. I would suspect there's some exposed wire that is creating a short that you'd want to use some electrical tape to insulate and fix.

Since you installed the T-Connector style the easiest way to see what's going on is to disconnect the Curt tees and plug in your RAV4 tail lights directly to the vehicle wiring and see if that fixes your issues. Hey Paul, so this is a very valid concern but you would not need to have to worry about the heat from the exhaust of your 2022 Toyota RAV4 affecting the Thule Arcos Cargo Carrier part # TH25YE. This carrier has a rise in the shank to get the carrier above the exhaust and also the carrier is far enough away from the exhaust that you wouldn't have to worry.

There are a lot of reviews on this hitch and some other RAV4 owners have faced a similar problem.
