The first thing I would check is the ground on the converter. Make sure it is attached to a clean bare metal surface on the vehicle. Because the 2008 Chevrolet 2500 Duramax has an OEM integrated brake controller, I do not have any information on how many axles the controller can support. It sounds to me like the person at the garage may not be doing his research on their trailer brake control system, but it is possible that the factory system cannot support more than 4 brake assemblies or 2 axles with trailer brakes.
