The Yakima HD bars do have a channel on the top of them that a Thule Hullavator part # TH898 could easily attach to. There's a cover that's on them which is designed to lower wind noise but that easily comes off and is trimmable.
So for a Yakima HD roof rack that fits your 2020 Subaru Ascent with raised rails you'd just need the part numbers # Y01157, # Y03541, and # Y33TR with the Hullavator and you'd be set. view full answer...
Thank you for all of the helpful information! I do have a few different options for you to add LED lighting to your scooter carrier.
You can definitely use the Optronics Streamline LED Trailer Tail Light # STL79RB with wiring like the Hopkins Endurance # HM38134 by just using heat shrink butt connectors # DW05744-5. Since your carrier is aluminum you will need to cut off the eyelet on the ground wire and splice it to the white wire on this harness. The Hopkins wiring harness is only 48"... view full answer...
The Curt Class III Trailer Hitch # C13400 referenced in your question does indeed have a gloss finish and there is not a different version available that features a matte black finish. All of the hitches available for your 2019 Subaru Ascent have a black powder coat with a gloss finish like this.
If you don't particularly like the look of the gloss finish a better option might be with the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76253. This hitch features a similar finish but has... view full answer...
I'd recommend going with a concealed option like the # 76253 from Draw-Tite. When the hitch isn't needed, it'll be completely concealed behind the center panel in the rear bumper cover. Many folks don't care for the appearance of a trailer hitch such as the Curt # C13400 which will be fully visible below the rear bumper.
If there's a chance you might use the hitch for towing purposes some time in the future, you'd need a few other items to complete your towing system. For a trailer wiring... view full answer...
For a 6 inch drop ball mount that would fit the 2 inch hitch of your 2019 Subaru Ascent we have the Draw Tite part # 40346 and then for a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball you'd want the part # 19260 and you'd be set. The Curt ball mount does not have the smaller ball size available for it since the ball hole is larger. view full answer...
There indeed are hitches available for a 2021 Subaru Ascent. The most popular choice among Ascent owners is the Curt # C25VR. The hitch installs behind the bumper cover, and actually takes the place of the factory impact structure, so the receiver will actually utilize the cutout in the bumper cover, which can be replaced when the hitch isn't in use. This is the perfect option for folks that want a hitch, but aren't too enthused about the way a hitch looks.

The Brake Controller that I would recommend is the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180. This brake controller will plug directly in between the 7-Way on your 2021 Subaru Ascent and the 7-Way on your 2017 Airstream RV Sport 16. The great thing is there is nothing to mount in your Subaru so you can easily move this between vehicles as you need. And there is no additional wiring for this unit under your dash that you will need to have connected. This is also a proportional... view full answer...
E bikes test the weight limits of many bike platform racks. For example, the Saris MTR Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount, can carry heavier bikes in the trays closest to your vehicle, but the maximum weight the trays can hold drops on the two trays furthest from the vehicle. As a result, your e-bikes will be too heavy for the last two trays of this hitch bike rack, even if you do only carry three bikes most of the time. You will still exceed the recommended weight limit.... view full answer...
I checked with Curt (the manufacturer) about the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C25VR (13348) for a 2022 Subaru Ascent and they indicated it to be a confirmed fit. They also indicated that it is tested for safety in accordance with SAE J684 as with all of their hitches.
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76253 which is the same style of hitch offered by another manufacturer, is tested and in accordance with both V-5 and SAE J684. Therefore, if you are looking for... view full answer...
Your 2019 Subaru Ascent would have the factory tire size of 245/60-18 if you have a base or Premium model which we have a set of Thule Easy Fit tire chains that fit. They are the size 250 part # TH04115250 and since they install in a matter of seconds and perform really well they are easily the best option around.
If instead you have a Limited or Touring model you'd want the 255 size part # TH04115255.
I attached a review video to this page that shows how easy they are to install as well. view full answer...
There isn't a trunk mounted bike rack setup that allows you to open the rear hatch with the rack installed as the weight of the rack would cause the shocks that hold the door open to allow the hatch to slam down and be rather dangerous.
The only type of rear mount bike rack that can allow you rear cargo area access with the rack and even bikes loaded is a swing away hitch mounted bike rack that would require a hitch to be installed first like the Draw Tite part # 76253.
Then for a bike... view full answer...
Draw Tite does not offer replacement spring bars for your current weight distribution as all of the replacement parts are no longer available. Only solution would be a new a weight distribution like the Fastway e2 part # FA94-00-0600 which has a similar tongue weight rating of 400-600 lbs. view full answer...
The best option for tow mirrors for a 2019 Subaru Ascent are the CIPA universal mirrors part # 11953-2 as we've had the chance to install and use them on a similar 2020 Subaru Ascent and found the fit well and provided a great view behind the vehicle and trailer thanks to the very stable dual mirror face setup.
Check out the install video I attached and the picture that shows the mirrors installed on a similar Ascent as well. view full answer...
This isn't an uncommon problem to have, and I have the perfect solution for you. Have a look at the ISSE Hybrid Snow Socks - Size 72 # TCH72, which are a Class S compatible and designed with vehicles that have limited wheel well clearance in mind. I prefer these to spring chains since they're easier to install than any type of chains, and they won't damage the vehicle if there is a break like a spring chain potentially could. These socks are DOT compliant in all 50 states, so you'll be... view full answer...
Both of the cargo boxes you mentioned are solid choices but I would recommend the Malone Profile 18b part # MPG911 over the Yakima SkyBox # Y07336 if for no other reason than it will save you some money. Both boxes are very similar and both use a simple clamp design for an easy install.
Check out the review video links I attached for both boxes and see if there are any features of the Yakima that would justify the cost difference for you. view full answer...
Let's start with the quietest crossbars, and that's 100 percent the aero bars, as the square bars will be quite loud in terms of wind noise. As for the right size, so long as your kayaks don't go past the 27-1/2 inch width of the SeaWing, the 58 inch crossbars are perfectly fine.
I would not go with the 65 as though they will technically fit, they'll stick out past the sides of your 2021 Subaru Ascent to the point you (and others walking by your car) would have to make sure to avoid them.... view full answer...
Your 2019 Subaru Ascent with the factory tow package does have wiring ready for the easy install of a brake controller but it does not have a brake controller. For that the P3 part # 90195 is a really great option. All you need to install it is the part # 3062-P which plugs in under the dash of the vehicle and you'd be set. The Coachman Viking would have trailer brakes which is why a brake controller would what you'd need. view full answer...
There are just a couple parts needed in order for you to add a 7-way and brake controller to your 2019 Subaru Ascent.
Because you already have the required 4-way 118790, to add a wireless brake controller, which I strongly recommend due to how very easy they are to use, you'll just need the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation # ETBC7L.
This will allow you to use the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180.
The Curt Echo will simply plug into the... view full answer...
