  • Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for a 2011 Honda Element
  • Basically the Tow Ready Harness part # 118465 and the Curt Harness part # C56029 are two different manufacturers take on the same wiring harness. Either will work and will accomplish the same thing. I like the Curt wiring harnesses better though as they use a more modern circuit board with makes them a bit more reliable.

  • Double Eye Leaf Spring Recommendation to Replace 23-1/2 in Springs
  • I believe the closest leaf spring we offer to what you are looking for would be the Leaf Spring part # D217242 that you referenced. The only difference is that this spring is 1-3/4 inches wide instead of 2 inches. Nearly all trailer leaf springs are this width so I would be surprised that you have a 2 inch wide spring. This spring is also a 1/4 inch shorter, which is perfect since old springs like what you have tend to stretch over time. I attached an FAQ article on leaf spring suspension...

  • Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a 2006 Honda Element
  • The # 119178KIT actually replaced the 119175KIT a few years ago, so for your 2006 Honda Element you would want the # 119178KIT. I attached a video that shows this kit being installed on a 2006 Honda Element just like yours for you to check out.

  • 2006 Honda Element Trailer Wiring Recommendation
  • For trailer wiring for your 2006 Honda Element you would want the # C59496 as it is a fit. The part # 118465 fits newer Honda Elements and would not work for yours. I wish we had a custom fit harness that did fit your 2006 model but currently we only have the universal type fits.

  • Rooftop Tent Options For A 2003 Honda Element With Yakima Round Bar Roof Rack
  • Your 2003 Honda Element uses what we call "fixed mounting points" for the roof rack towers. Meaning there is not any way to change the distance between the crossbars. Even if you go with a different brand, they are going to be fixed at 28.5". So there would be no way to accommodate the Thule Tepui # TH8001ASK05. You could potentially use a rooftop tent like the Yakima Skyrise HD # Y07436, which will fit a crossbar spread between 26" and 40-1/2". There is an annex available # Y07421 if...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for a 2005 Honda Element
  • First let's start with a hitch for your 2005 Honda Element. For that I would recommend the Class III hitch part # e78KR that has been confirmed as a fit. This hitch has a 2 inch opening which means it will have higher weight capacities and has more options available for hitch accessories. I attached the installation instructions for you to check out. For trailer wiring you will need to go with a universal fit type harness like part # C59496 that will require you to run a wire up to the...

  • How To Determine Correct Ball Mount Height for 2005 Honda Element Towing 1,250 lb Boat
  • You will want to choose the ball mount that comes closest to placing your trailer so that it is level when towed. To determine the rise or drop of ball mount you need, measure the distance from the ground to the inside top of your receiver tube. Then, with your trailer jacked up so that it is level, measure the distance from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler. Subtract the two measurement, and the difference between the dimensions will equal the rise or drop needed. If the...

  • Permanent Install Supplemental Braking System Recommendation for Flat Towing 2005 Honda Element
  • The SMI Duo part # SM99251 that you mentioned is going to be your best option. It works just as well as the Inivsi-Brake yet installs much easier. If the permanent install route is what you are wanting the DUO is hands-down the best option. Our installers here love it. If you are paying for an install somewhere it will also be much less expensive to go this route. The Invisi-Brake is also not listed as a fit for your Element either at this time.

  • Recommended Hitch for Carrying Thule TH903202 EasyFold Bike Rack on 2010 Honda Element
  • I'd recommend the etrailer Class III hitch, part # e78KR which is compatible with all models of the 2010 Honda Element. If your Element is NOT an SC model, the US made Curt # 13574 you'd looked at would also be a fine choice. Both hitches have the same degree of install difficulty and the same capacity. In this instance, I'd personally choose the etrailer over the Curt, because I find the round matte black finish to be a bit more visually appealing. The Thule # TH903202 EasyFold bike rack...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2008 Honda Element SC
  • For your 2008 Honda Element SC I would recommend the Curt Hitch part # C11699 which is a confirmed fit and has a 1-1/4" inch opening. We do not currently (June 2023) have a 2" hitch for your element SC. For trailer wiring you would then want the part # 118465 which is also a confirmed fit. I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well. If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in the Draw-Tite ball mount # 3593 which includes a pin and clip. Then for...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 2007 Honda Element SC
  • The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11699 is what I recommend for a 2007 Honda Element SC. It features a mostly bolt-on install, but some access holes may need to be enlarged. This hitch can be used for towing or bike racks and cargo carriers.

  • How to Move and Park a Trailer without Using a Vehicle
  • I do have a solution for you but there are no front mount trailer hitches available for the 2003 Honda Element. What I recommend is a Trailer Valet XL trailer dolly such as # TVXL2 which has a 2 inch ball or # TVXL25 which has a 2-5/16 inch ball. These are two-speed dollies that will allow you to accurately move and position the trailer, even by yourself, without having to use a vehicle. Depending on the length of your driveway you would probably want to use low gear. To make it easier...

  • Trailer Recommendation to Carry a Motorcycle with a 2010 Honda Element LX
  • Since your vehicle has such a low towing capacity you only really have one option for carrying a motorcycle with your 2010 Honda Element. You will have to go with a small trailer since your vehicle would not have the tongue weight capacity for a motorcycle and carrier. For trailer wiring you are going to want the Tow Ready harness part # 118465. For a ball mount you could use the part # D-4, Hitch Pin and Clip, # PC3, and then for a 2 inch ball part # 63845.

  • Does etrailer Hitch # e78KR for 2007 Honda Element Come with Wiring Harness
  • The wiring harness is sold separately. I recommend the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring for the Honda Element # 118465. This harness provides a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your Honda Element to power your trailer's signal lights. I have included a link to the instruction details and a video of the trailer wiring harness installation. If you need a ball mount I recommend part # 989900. I have included a link to a video review of this the kit. You will want to check...

  • Troubleshooting No Cruise Control of 2008 Honda Element after Trailer Wiring Install
  • First try removing the harness to see if the cruise control starts to work again. That will isolate the harness or the install as the problem. Next try carefully reinstalling it and see if the problem comes back. Sometimes a connector not seating all the way or a fuse not install properly causes odd issues. If that does not fix it the harness is most likely bad and would need to be replaced.

  • Weight Dist. and Sway Control Recommend. for a 6000lbs Boat Trailer Towed by a 2011 Honda Element
  • You would first need the Reese Pole-Tongue Adapter for Weight Distribution, part # RP3280, that you referenced to mount a weight distribution system to your trailer. This product is designed to work on trailers like yours that have the long straight beam before it goes back into an A-frame style of trailer. For a weight distribution system I would recommend you use a Reese Weight Distribution System w Shank, part # RP66541. If you wanted a weight distribution system that has sway control...

  • Tow Bar Wiring to Flat Tow a 2008 Honda Element Behind a Motor Home
  • We actually don't carry any flat tow wiring for your 2008 Honda Element that plugs directly into the vehicle's wiring. We used to but it's been discontinued. What is in the instructions for the base plates is just the connector that would be at the front of the vehicle and for that you can use # DM9523004. You would need to cut off the 4-Way end from kit # TM783101 and attach the wires to the back of one of the connectors in this kit. White is ground, brown is running lights, yellow is...

  • Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Recommendation for 2009 Honda Element
  • The Thule OutWay # TH45JV is indeed a fit for a 2009 Element. The OutWay is not an inexpensive choice, but in my opinion it's probably the best choice for the Honda Element you're referring to. ThOutWay uses only 2 retractable rubber coated straps to attach to the vehicle, instead of 6 straps and buckles typically used by a trunk mounted bike rack. The retraceable cables allow the OutWay to be installed or removed in seconds, because there's no buckles or straps to adjust. When you consider...

  • Will 215/70-14 Tires Fit on a Two Horse Trailer
  • What size tires do you have on your horse trailer now? The new 215/70-14 tires you are referring to are 25.9" diameter x 8.5" wide so if you have the extra room for this new size then I do not see any issues so long as they are rated for use on a trailer and have the correct load range. Please note though you will need to have a few inches between the tire and fender to allow for proper suspension travel. We do not carry this size but we do have a similar size, 215/75-14 which is 26.7"...

  • Trailer Brake Controller and Install Recommendation for a 2003 Honda Element
  • You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # 118336. From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well. For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake...
