The motor is likely the culprit of your steps not retracting all the way. The nylon gear inside the motor is likely the part that is worn. The step is able to extend due to gravity but it sound like the motor does not have enough power on the upstroke to fully retract. I believe you have 8xR19.5 tires on your 1993 Itasca Motorhome as this is a rather common tire size for motorhomes. If this is the case then I recommend using the Pewag All Square Snow Tire Chains with Cam Tighteners part # PWE2214SC. These chains have square links which will provide excellent traction in both snow/ice, a reversible pattern so you can obtain the most life out of them, and cam tensioners which makes installation much simpler.

Unfortunately, I confirmed with Air Lift that the Replacement Air Spring for Air Lift LoadLifter 7500 XL System # AL50236 has different mounting brackets than the 5000 models. In order to have the correct brackets as well as an even plane for your vehicle, it is recommended that you have the same size springs on both axels. I recommend looking at the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver # 41990-07. This is a universal receiver you can use as there currently is not a custom fit receiver for your 1985 Itasca Sunflyer on a Chevrolet P30 chassis. From the picture you have provided it looks like you already have the Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly for Roadmaster Tow Bars # 910021-00 so you should be good to connect to the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 909-9.
