Today we're going to be taking a look at the Scosche BoomBuoy Bluetooth speaker. This is going to be a waterproof floating speaker in tech sport gray. And this is going to be a really fun, cool thing to have with you on your hike, maybe if you're going camping, or out on the river, or at the beach, and you want to have some tunes, but you don't want to ruin your speaker in the process. This is a great thing to bring with you. Not only is it going to be lightweight and small, easy enough to carry, can fit in a pocket pretty well. Or you can use the carabiner, clip it onto your backpack, or your pocket, or your belt loop and take it with you.
It does come with that carabiner and it's also going to be waterproof and dustproof. So it has an IP rating of IP67. Pretty much means it's impervious to dust and it's submersible up to about a meter. The testing that they do to get that IP rating is submersing it in water for 30 minutes up to about a meter. So if this falls in the water, gets completely submerged, it's no problem. You can go right back to playing your music.
It's going to be pretty loud for as small as this is. It has a pretty good amount of sound. The other thing that I really like about this is that we have our music controls right on the speaker itself. So you can start and stop your music, or whatever you're listening to. And you can also adjust the volume with these buttons, and skip ahead as well.
So if we turn it on, this connects via Bluetooth, it's integrated into it. You'll see the little blue marker. When it flashes like that, it's trying to pair. Whenever you hear that little bloop bloop, that means that it's paired with your device. So we can hit play.
It'll start playing our tunes. Pretty neat. Now if you want to adjust the sound, you can press and hold on the side there. The two buttons, if you press and hold that will adjust the volume. If you just tap it, that'll skip ahead or skip back.So I think that's a pretty cool feature there that we can turn our music on or off, adjust the sound, and we don't even have to be near our device. This has a range of up to 33 feet, so pretty good amount of space that you can have. Definitely if you're on a kayak or a boat or something and you've got your phone a few feet away and you've got your speaker next to you, it's no problem there. So pretty cool device. We also get a charging cable to come with it. It is rechargeable, obviously. And another nice little feature of this is that a lot of times with a micro USB cord you have to plug it in and then you go, oh man, I turned to the wrong side, and then, we got to fumble around. This is actually going to be reversible. So it doesn't matter which side you turn it to, it's going to plug right in and make that just a little bit easier. Charge, obviously enough, behind this little flap, pull that back, pop in our cable. Goes either direction, doesn't matter. So that's one thing that I like, because I know whenever I'm trying to charge something I have to turn it about three different times, for some reason. Never can get it on the first try. This is going to make that a lot simpler. The cable itself is going to be about three feet. When I measured it, it was about 38 inches tip to tip, so pretty good amount of length there. And then on the other side it just plugs into a USB adapter that would go into your AC wall mount, or wall charger. Again, it does have that wireless range of 33 feet. And it floats face up. So, even if it happens to float along on the water, it'll still be face up. Or if you want to take this to the pool, pop it in the water, have it floating next to you, it'll provide tunes the whole time. It also is able to withstand some shock. So very rugged, nice speaker to have.As far as the dimensions, it's going to be pretty small. As you can see, it fits in the palm of my hand and wouldn't be too hard to fit this in a back pocket or something like that. But it's going to be three and five eighths of an inch in diameter. And then about one and three eighths of an inch tall or thick. However you want to look at it. Scosche also stands behind their product by offering a limited lifetime warranty. Another thing I like about this with that tech sport gray, it just has this nice green color, so it's going to make it stand out a little bit better against any background that you might be. That's going to do it for our look at the Scosche BoomBuoy Bluetooth speaker in tech sport gray.
