Video Transcript for Review of Pacer Performance Vehicle Lights - Roof Lamp - PP20-221C

Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the Pacer Performance Hi-five LED truck cab light kit. Now, if you already had your Hi-five or those five lights on the top of your truck, and maybe you just want to replace them out with something that looks a little different with the clear lens, or maybe you want to add these to a truck that didn't have them in to start with, this is going to give you everything you need to get that install done. So we'll get our five lights include and also the sockets to hold our bulbs. It does come with the LEDs and also the incandescent bulbs, if you want to use those as well.

Typically, your LED bulbs are going to be brighter and last longer, so I would probably go with just the LEDs, but it does also come with the incandescence, so it's kind of up to you there. You can also use these in pretty much any other capacity that you'd want. They're going to be a T 10 1 9 4 style bulb with of course, that Amber color. So if you have any other accessories that uses those bulbs, you got some extra now. So we'll have our wiring, the wire, this is going to connect between all five of our lights. And then we'll quick splice in each of those sockets for the lights.

It does have a ground coming right off of that socket as well, so we'll need to find a good grounding spot for each of those. The quick splices do a pretty good job of getting you connected there, the one end of our wiring does have this little spade terminal, so that's going to go on the back of our switch, that's included. The other piece of wiring is going to be this fuse and fuse holder also has that spade terminal, so that's going to go on the other side of our switch to protect everything from any shorts. So we don't have to worry about blowing our lights, we'll just have that fuse, so we need to replace if that ever occurs. By having the switch included, you'll be able to bypass the wiring for your truck. So you don't have to worry about tapping into your vehicle's lighting system, which can potentially void your warranty.

If you do that on a newer truck, so something to keep in mind there, as some other customers have said that they wanted to just not utilize this switch and wire it directly into their running lights, it's definitely something you can do. It's not too hard to do, but if you wanted to go that route, you might need a little extra wire to get everything connected.Again, comes with the quick splice connectors for our wiring connections. As far as the lights themselves, it's going to be a lens and then this kind of rubber boot. So this helps to conform to the shape of your roof, whether that's flat or contoured, and it should also keep out water and debris from getting into your vehicle. We also do get the hardware to get this attached into our truck.

So you do have to make some holes into your vehicle if you don't already have a spot to mount these up, that is something to keep in mind there. You will have to do some drilling if you don't already have a mounting hole for these. Now, these are styled after the 1988 through 2002 Chevy and GMC factory roof lights. So it's going to give you that factory look. Again it does have the clear lens with those Amber LEDs or Amber incandescent bulbs. These are also available with a smoke lens, which is basically the same thing it's just darker. So it kind of gives you that blacked out look for your truck and also in the traditional just Amber colored lights. So you can find both of those here etrailer.com if you want to check out those options.I am going to wire this up so we can take a look at what it looks like illuminated. So you just take one of your LEDs. These are basically the same style as the incandescent bulb, so you just push that little wedge into the socket there. And it's a good idea to do this before you get everything mounted because it is polarity sensitive. So I have my power turned on. Nothing's happening most likely, I just need to switch it the other way. So pop that back in there, turn it on, Ta-da. Now it works. So definitely something you want to do before you actually get everything in place. So you're not having to take everything apart to get that light working. I'm going to turn the light out in the studio so you can get a better idea of what that looks like in the dark. Now, of course, the idea with these lights is not to provide you with any better visibility while you're out on the road. This is kind of to make you more visible to other people out on the road. And I'm sorry, I can't show you all five lit up at one time with my setup, it's just going to be the one guy at a time. So just kind of use your imagination for the other five, but it gives you an idea of how bright that is there. This does work with 12 volt systems. Wiring is pretty easy. Again, we'll have our red power wire black with a ring terminal is going to be our ground wire, as far as the size of each of our lights overall length. If we go to the bottom of this little foot here, it's about 5 3/4 long by about 2 7/8 are just under 3 wide. And then about 1 1/2 tall. The mounting holes are about 4 apart, maybe 4 1/8, if we go center to center. So if that matches up with your original hardware, that should work out pretty well, but otherwise you might have to make some modifications. If it we're me, I would probably grab some silicone sealant for your holes going into the truck. It does come with these little rubber O-rings to go underneath the head of each of those screws to provide some water protection. But you know, you'd just, you never want any water to get into your truck, so if you can avoid that, it's always better to be safe rather than sorry. So we do have some silicone sealant available here at etrailer.com if you want to pick that up to go with your light kit, but that's pretty much going to do it for our look at the Pacer Performance Hi-five LED truck cab light kit. Hope this video has been helpful in deciding if this is going to be the right kid for you. Thanks for watching..

timely delivery, staff is very helpful
haven't
opened the box yet to see what's entailed in the installation

by:

Package arrived completely opened on one end, and the container a little tattered, but everything seems to be intact and complete!

by:

fairly quick shipping..my truck has never had lights...but have installed them on every truck I've owned ( 4 ), This is my 5th. Everything was in the box. It even came with little washers for the screw heads. I used silicone just in case. I was very skeptical of the supplied ground wires but they all worked!!.. I decided on the old style bulbs this time. Might switch if they don't last then I will go to the LED's. I used a different toggle switch than the one supplied. Really like the set so far. I have never seen a truck like mine with cab lights. Maybe others will try it now?

by:

Look good on the truck, one of the center lights became loose so it was not making great contact and therefore was out. I got it working again, but it was a hassle taking the light off the truck to just spin the light a little bit.

by:

Great product, I replaced existing lights with these. Hole pattern was exactly the same as my old lights. I had two issues not related to the product. My old lights only had one wire through the cab. They had a jumper wire that went from bulb socket to mounting screw for the light.
As far as replacing existing lights goes, this product is great.
For a complaint, the instructions nor video showed me what the little rubber washers were for. Since there were 10 of these I assumed they were for the mounting screws. I used mine for lens cover screws.
I also used silicone under foam pad, on top of foam pad, on mounting screws, and after install was complete I added it at base of lens and around base of light. All not needed but cant hurt to keep water out.

Definitely reccomend this companies products.

One year on, these lights are holding up very well. Installation was pretty simple, I did have to break out a drill to enlarge the factory holes - I believe the factory lights used sheet metal screws to attach to the top of the cab through the lens and these use a metal stud attached to the light base with a nut that tightens from inside the cab (it's been a year and my memory is fuzzy). Outwards though these lights look completely stock. They sealed well and I've experienced no issues with water leaks. 100% suggest these to anyone wanting to replace or upgrade their stock lights to LED while retained the OE look.

by:

Lights and everything arrived quickly, everything needed was in the packaging. The only thing I did differently was I wired the lights into my existing light switch instead of a separate switch, just bought 16 gauge wire from hardware store. I added some t10 LED lights which look awesome at night! During the day LED or incandescent bulbs are not very visible anyway. Overall awesome product!

The Pacer Performance High-5 lights on my 1992 Ford F350 are high quality. They fit the original screw holes perfectly. The LED lights are bright. The wire connectors were different, but that was no problem. I cut off the connectors and used crimp-on connectors, then taped the connections securely with electrical tape.

by:

After reading not so good reviews on other cab lights I found these and saw nothing but good things about them and when I had them installed I was more than happy with them. I would recommend to anyone wanting to put cab lights on their truck

by:

The cab lights I ordered came in a timely manner and they were oem quality!

by:

They look great! Pretty simple install, everything you need is included and the easy splice makes it even easier to wire everything together. They give you 6, so I just used the last one to tap into my headlights and they turn on automatically whenever those are on. LED’s are pretty bright and that’s what I went with, but they also give you the classic bulbs to choose from as well. 4 stars for now just to see how they hold up!

by:

The lights were purchased as replacement for the existing lights already on the truck, so all the hard work of drilling the holes and running the wiring was already done. What little installation I had to do was fairly easy, and simple. The lights match the originals exactly and you can't tell them apart from the old ones. The package was shipped promptly and arrived undamaged within a few days. Overall I'm extremely pleased with the order and I will be using your company for future purchases and I will definitely recommend your company to other people who need the type of things you supply.

Purchased and installed the cab lights from etrailer.com. Shipped quickly, reasonably priced and a very easy installation. They look great on the truck. There some great write ups on the web explaining how to easily drop the headliner. Thanks etrailer.

by:

Good set of lights , actually need another set. Very happy with them

by:

Bought these lights about a year ago and they look and work great! The lighting makes a perfect red and they are very bright as well, but that can depend on the bulbs you decide to use. Easy installation too!

by:

Great lights looks amazing on my GMC, i could not be happier. I had the installed as no one wants me wiring anything. The LED bulbs are nice and bright. I would recommend these lights to anyone.

by:

I have ordered many times and have always had great experience!!

by:

Lights exactly as described. Package came with both LED bulbs and incandescent bulbs. Easy to install. I watched the installation video which was very helpful. I only installed 4 as my vintage truck has a middle rotating beacon.

by:

The smoked lens look great! On my 2017 black 3500 RAM. Install took about 45 minutes. LED bulbs need to go the right way to work. Shipping was quick, and thanks to Jason and everyone at etrailer for making the ordering process easy.

by:

Straightforward install. Worst part was dropping the headliner. Tapped into the power source at passenger side kick panel in my 97 Ford. Very happy with my purchase.

by:

Had these lights on my truck for a year now and they work great the installation was pretty easy. I installed them on my ram 1500

by:

These have only been on for a few days but they seem to be a very reliable option if your truck needs cab lights. Straight forward install and I was pleased to find out the bases and lenses are molded of a nice poly plastic. I was worried the bases would be weak and flimsy. I ordered two sets, one set for a 2000 f350 that never had cab lights, and a second set for a 2002 f350 that already had cab lights but were aged and weathered. I was able to get my drilling dimensions from one truck and just transfer over to the other. Simply dropped the headliner, marked my holes on masking tape, drilled holes, mounted lights, and ran wiring down to behind my headlight switch tapped into the running lights wire. I did go the extra mile and added some silicone around my bolt and wire holes for a little extra insurance prior to putting the headliner back in place. I was a little intimidated to start with but after all said and done I would have no issue doing this over again on multiple trucks. I'm not a professional mechanic by trade, just handy enough to do my own exhaust, stereo, and lighting installs as well as oil changes etc. These cab lights can be installed by novice wrench turners. etrailer does however need to update their website pictures though. The updated version of these lights have studs molded into the bases so they are held on by a nut and washer from inside the cab. The pictures on etrailer must be a previous version that were fastened by sheet metal style screws screwed in from the topside. Pacer Performance website shows the proper product, etrailer should make that a priority to follow suit and update their literature. The molded studs is a much better design! Kudos Pacer Performance!

Look just lock factory

by:

Excellent product. Very good price. The replacement marker lights were almost an identical match to the original lights on my 1983 Ford F150. A very easy install. The truck looks great! Purchasing the lights on line with etrailer.com was a snap. I'm very happy so far with the service, product, and follow up. I'll definitely consider etrailer.com for further purchases as I work to restore this pickup. Thank you etrailer.com!!!

by:

Hello Again. I just received my order. Thank You. One concern. The exterior marker lights came as a complete set including mounting screws although the three interior lights and the exterior door light DID NOT. I was hoping the screws would be included in the price so I would not have to make a trip to the hardware store to mount them.
The diameter, head size and length are critical to NOT breaking the unit when installed. I look forward to hearing from you on this matter.

Thanks, R.S. Moyer
