  • Can Transmission Cooler be Mounted Near Brake Line
You'll be fine. Brake fluid doesn't boil till at least 311 degrees Fahrenheit and the transmission cooler being an inch away from the lines would not be an issue at all. There are people that run brake lines within 1/4 inch of exhaust headers/manifolds (which are much hotter), without problems.

  • Where to Mount the Derale Dual-Pass Heat Sink Transmission Cooler and How Does It Compare
The heat sink coolers like the Derale Dual-Pass Heat Sink Transmission Cooler, item # D13266, do not perform nearly as well as the traditional style coolers. These coolers have a single large cavity and do not force the liquid through a number of small cavities as a tube or plate and fin style cooler would. In comparison the heat sink style would not perform as well as the smallest plate and fin style transmission cooler. For your Town Car I would recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin...

  • Recommendations for Cooling a C4 Transmission in a 1966 Ford Bronco Rock Crawler
It sounds to me like you will definitely want to upgrade your transmission cooler. Since you will not have a cooler that is being cooled by the fluid running through the radiator, I agree that you will need to upgrade or add a cooler to your system. Heat Sink Coolers like the Dual-Pass Heat Sink Transmission Cooler, item # D13266, that you referenced are not nearly as efficient as a plate and fin cooler or a cooler with an electric fan added. If you are running an electric fan with high...

  • Solution for Vehicle that Runs Hot After Radiator Replacement
I had a similar problem on my vehicle and it actually turned out that I had an air bubble in the cooling system of my vehicle and it was preventing the cooling system from working properly. If you haven't tried it already you should try and "burp" the coolant system. Easiest way to do this is park on the steepest hill you can find, remove the cap of your radiator (after it has cooled down), start the vehicle and start squeezing and releasing the rubber radiator lines. This will help draw...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendations for a 1956 Buick Century
The heat sink coolers such as # D13266 are great if space is limited but they are not all that efficient. It would help some but if you need series cooling this is not the best option. I would instead go with a stacked plate cooler such as # D51008. It is small but very efficient. Or you could go with a plate fin style such as # D13503. We usually recommend using the largest cooler that will fit in the available space because transmission fluid cannot be overcooled. I have included a link...

  • Recommended Frame Rail Transmission Cooler for 2005 Dodge Ram
The Derale 20" Dual-Pass Heat Sink Transmission Cooler # D13265 you asked about is not the largest. The largest frame rail cooler we have is the Derale 26" Heat Sink Dual-Pass Transmission Cooler # D13266 which is 26-1/4" long x 2-3/16" wide x 3-1/4" tall. We also have a single pass # D13256 with these same dimensions. The dual-pass will provide more cooling. Although it is technically possible to cool the transmission fluid too much, that would only ever be an issue in extremely cold...
