Video Transcript for Curt Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Ford F-150 C13360

Speaker 1: Today on our 2008 Ford F-150 we're going to take a look at and also show you how to install the CURT custom fit Class 3 trailer hitch receiver. Offering the 2" by 2" receiver tube opening, its part number is C13360. Now here's what your hitch will look like installed. As you can see, we've got the square crosstube. It's going to come to your frame brackets, those will come over two attachment points on each side. Really straightforward attachment there, and then we've got two bolts here in the middle.

Definitely something you can easily do in the driveway, get completed in probably under an hour. Now in the middle we've got our receiver tube opening. This is going to be 2" by 2". See that nice flush reinforcement collar around the end there. Now this is going to be ideal for just about any type of hitch accessory that you'd want to use. Typically if they make it to fit a hitch, it's probably going to come in a Class 3 variety.

This is going to work out really well for your cargo carriers, for your bike racks, but think being that it is on a truck, you're probably going to be looking at towing more often. Plenty of ball mounts out there available to get the right size you need. Now to secure all those items in place, you're going to use your 5/8 diameter pin hole. See there's a good amount of room all the way around there. Whatever type of accessory you choose, you want to be sure it's rated for a Class 3, but standard pins and clips, locking hitch pins, or even anti-rattle devices should work out really well.See our safety chain connection points are going to be plate style. That's pretty typical of most of the hitches designed for the F-150 in this year range.

For your smaller safety hooks you can see no issues getting those connected. If you're using a little bit larger trailer that maybe has the larger clevis hooks, also no problem with connecting, although these don't rotate all the way around. Not that you need them too. Also, taking them off's pretty quick and easy. Now the hitch is going to offer a 600 pound tongue weight rating. That's the maximum downward force you can put at your receiver tube opening.

It gives you a 6,000 pound gross trailer weight rating. That's the total weight of your trailer and anything you we're to load up on it. It's also rated for use with weight distribution. If you decide to use a spring bar or torsion bar setup, that tongue weight rating, it goes up to 1,000 pounds. The gross trailer weight rating's going to go up to 10,000 pounds. Certainly though, you want to check the owner's manual on the F-150 to see what its tow rating is and not go over that. Now a couple of measurements you may find helpful when selecting your ball mount, bike rack, or hitch cargo carrier will be from the ground to the inside top edge of our receiver tube opening, we've got about 16-1/4". Then from the center our hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of our bumper, it's about 1-3/4".Now with the help of an extra set of hands we're going to get our hitch lifted into position. You'll notice that we've removed the spare tire. That just really makes it easier for you to see. If you can't get to the bolts, might be a good idea for you to lower yours. We just want to bring our hitch up. You can see that we've got a tab here. It's got a hole in it. The carriage bolt's going to go through that right into the frame. Once that's through, we're going to thread on our flange nut there. When you have three or four good turns on it, you can let it rest there while you get the rest of your fasteners started. Now on each side, if we follow our plate up there's another hole here in the frame. Another carriage bolt's going to go from the hitch side through the hole and thread on a flange nut. We'll do that on both sides. Now for our center attachment point, we'll use our larger hex head bolt. You want a flat washer on that. We're going to go through the hitch and through the factory safety chain connection point. Then we'll use our larger flange nut there and get it secured. We're going to have one of these to do on both sides so we'll get those on, and we can start snugging down our hardware. Now for those we'll use a 15/16 socket and wrench. Our exterior carriage bolts, we're going to use a 19mm. Now we'll get all of them torqued down to the specifications. Those'll be listed on your instructions. With everything torqued down, if you took down that spare tire, now's a great time to get it put back in place. That will complete our installation of the CURT custom fit Class 3 trailer hitch receiver, part number C13360, on our 2008 Ford F-150.

There are a couple of premiere receiver manufacturers, this is one of them. Some vehicles are hard to add a hitch to because of their design. They find good attachment points to make is as easy to install as is possible. All the correct hardware and instructions was included. good quality coatings to prevent rusting. only complaint is it would be nice to have had a convenient mount for the trailer wiring socket welded on the receiver. My 07 F150 doesn't have a very good place to locate a 7 pin flat socket and I don't want to drill into the receiver to mount the bracket. etrailer as always has the best price, service and delivery.

The product arrived in great shape me and a friend installed with no problems. Used to pull a trailer with my cruiser motorcycle and other items for my move from Houston, TX to Colorado Springs. I had no problem at all with the hitch. I have not had occasion to use it again but am confident it will perform anytime I need to use it. Excellent product.

The best $100+ I've ever spent on any vehicle. Shipping was on time and the hitch construction is excellent. Installation was a breeze, a 40 minute job inspite of 100* Texas temperature, a few minor tweeks to the original bumper mount bolts and I'm ready for a boat or large loaded utility trailer. The local Ford dealer, U-Haul and several Travel Trailer outlets wanted $240-$300. for anything comparable.
I will highly recommend eTrailer to anyone in need of a strong well constructed hitch.
Sincerely,
W. Harper

Good product, but installation wasn't as straightforward as I thought it could have been. I had to grind down the corners of the mounting bracket to get it to fit flush against the frame on my 2007 F150. Otherwise, it's just fine.

2008 Ford F-150

took all of half an hour to install didn't have to mess with loosening brackets on bumper for further alignment toughest part was getting it up in place with floor jack I would recommend this product to anyone considering looking for such a hitch

Good product. It arrived on time and was well packaged. Took a little work to get it installed, and you’ll need a torque wrench that goes to 210 lb ft!!

My friend and I installed this hitch receiver in about 20 minutes. Pretty simple, just 6 nuts and bolts. A little help from the rubber mallet and the impact driver and she was on there nice and tight!

I love it! I just received it today and plan on installing it Friday . I will give you an update later. Thanks for the good service.

by:

Easy to install without having to remove anything or put truck on a lift. Bolted right into place.

by:

It was the right hitch, but it did have a flaw. Five of the six bolts fit perfect. The other one was off by 1/4 inch. I had to ream the holes for it to fit.

  • What Ladder Rack will Fit Over the Canopy on My 2006 Ford F-150?
I have a solution for you. Unfortunately, there isn't a ladder rack that will work with your canopy because your canopy covers the truck's bed rails as well as the stake pockets (which are the two attachment points for ladder racks). With that being said, a great solution is the Rhino-Rack T-Load Hitch Mounted Load Assist and Support Bar for 2" Hitches # RTL002. The Extend-A-Truck will provide you a rear mounting point for a ladder or other long cargo (such as a kayak or canoe) on your...

  • Where is the Draw-Tite Hitch for a 2007 Ford F-150 Made
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75506 which is a fit for a 2007 Ford F-150 is made in Mexico. If you are looking for a USA option, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13360 is the way to go. If you need a trailer connector to go along with the trailer hitch, the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56031 is plug-n-play.

  • Hitch Receiver for a 2008 Ford F-150 to Haul a Forest River Wildwood Trailer
Yes, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" item # C13360 would have enough capacity to haul your Forest River Wildwood trailer. This hitch is also a confirmed fit for your 2008 Ford F-150. I have linked an installation video. I recommend the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches item # C45534. This towing kit will provide you with a 2" Ball, a fixed ball mount with a 3/4" rise and 2" drop, and is rated for up to 7,500 lbs. It also includes a hitch pin and clip,...
