This fully welded trailer hitch receiver bolts onto your vehicle's frame with no welding required. Powder coated steel is sturdy and corrosion resistant.Very well made, excellent instructions. Very involved installation but the instructions made it very doable.
Far more difficult to install than instructions indicated. Would not fit with the OEM bolts, which are spot-welded to the auto frame. I have installed tow hitches previously on other autos successfully. This one, I had to abandon mid-stream and take to an auto shop. They worked on it for three hours and were successful bit it tuened iut to be a much more expensive proposition - I paid three times in labor what the hitch cost.
My son installed the hitch and the wiring. Hitch was installed and wiring took about 3 hrs. He’s a auto technician and he was amazed seeing a wiring without slicing. Great product.
One of the mounting points was dented and scratched on arrival, I believe the hitch was too heavy for the box and seems to have pierced it in transport. I'm yet to install the hitch so not sure if this will affect fitment or not - but it does seem there could have been more padding used for shipping given its such a heavy item...
Hopefully it fits, the hitch looks of very good build quality otherwise!
Excellent fit and looks to be well build. I did the install alone, but it is indeed better to do it with 2 people as is described in the install guide. It was hard to wiggle the bumper beam away from the body of the car to make room for the hitch that wedges in between. The 2 brackets to attache the bumper skin to the hitch (in replacement of the original bracket) is a good idea. Makes it a lot stronger. I might in a next install attach those 2 brackets to the hitch before mounting it as it was not so easy to mount them later. The 2 plastic plugs that secure the bumper skin to these 2 new brackets were a bit small or the holes to big. I replaced them with a few stainless steal nuts, washers and bolts. The final result looks great. The hitch sits a bit lower than the factory one as the factory one has a cutout in the bumper skin. I had the same on a 2008 ML350 (W164) and reversing the ball mount to give a rise will resolve this. I used the Curt wiring solution (similar to Modulite), that worked out fine, but on a 2017 GLE350, you have LED tail lights (with combined signals and brake lights) and it took a little trial and error to find the correct wires to connect to. All and all this is a perfect solution for towing a trailer that does not use electric brakes or using your hitch mount bike rack.
The Curt trailer hitch has been perfect- i also purchased the light system to connect to the trailer - it took me a whole day to install and i am thankful for the detailed videos for the hitch and lights. I only got help with the hitch when lifting it into position as i do not have a hitch jack. I think the hitch is top quality and I am confident to pull anything-
We put your hitch on a Mercedes GLE 43 Coup. it fit perfect is tucked up tight so it does not look goofy. We use it all the for bike racks and to launch our wake board boat & jet skis at the river. I would purchase it again.
The trailer hitch arrived with the box severely damaged with the hitch partially exposed. It was scratched quite bad, and I was told it would be double-boxed when I asked, which it was not. You need to improve how you package this item for shipping so it doesn't arrived damaged. Otherwise, I would have been happy.
I haven’t used the hitch yet but we’re off to a great start. The order was received and processed within minutes. The projected ship time was 7 days. It was ordered AND shipped on Monday. Received it 2000 miles away on Thursday. The tracking process was excellent. I would definitely recommend Etrailer.
I did not open the hitch because it got delivered damaged in several places. I called customer service and simply told to TOUCH it up. This is non sense. New product and I have to tuch it up. They also told me this is the way it’s gonna be even if I ordered a replacement. This issue is already impacting my travel plan.
I will not order from here again.
Product is awesome, nothing wrong and it fits perfectly.
Installation document I will say, not having enough details for my 2018 GLE 350. W/o a 24" pry bar, I wouldn't be able installing it.
Packed well, very good quality receiver! Recommend two people for DIY install due to weight if the receiver.
It worked out great
Very efficient company easy to work with delivered on time what more can I say
Excellent

When it comes to shipping hitches, it is very common for them to arrive with scratches. We recommend using a rust-oleum type paint to cover the scratches. This will prevent any corrosion in the future. I have a link attached for your reference. I have also sent this over to customer service for them to reach out to you.
