Michael: Hi there. I'm Michael, with etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the K-Source custom extendable towing mirror. This is going to extend your line of sight when you're pulling a trailer behind your Ford, so that you can easily see your trailer to know if you have enough room to change lanes, pass another vehicle, park. Really anything that you need to do when you have your trailer connected. This is going to make it both easier and safer because you'll be able to see how much room you have to work with. This is a custom fit for your 2004 through 2014 Ford F-150 as well as your 2010 through 2014 Ford F-150 Raptor.
This is going to replace the factory driver's side, side view mirror on your vehicle. One of the advantages of mirror like this over some of your more temporary options, like your snap on or strap on mirrors that snap onto your factory mirror is that unlike those, this is going to be a permanent installation, and you're not going to have to worry about putting it on when you want to tow and then taking it off when you're done, it's going to be there when you need it.It's going to be one less thing to have to worry about when you're hooking up to your trailer. You can see this has got a telescoping function. It's going to extend out about three and a half inches, we can extend our line of sight even farther, get the appropriate angle to make sure that we are seeing our trailer, making sure that we are safe and confident when we're making lane changes and those sort of things. You can see on the bottom here, we also have the built-in spotter mirror, which is going to have be a convex lens, going to help reduce our blind spots as well. When we're done towing, we can simply slide it back in and it's going to resume normal operation for us.This mirror also has the hinge design. So if you're going into a parking garage or something like that, where they're tight spaces, you need to, you can fold the mirror up against your F-150 so that you can fit into those smaller spaces. This is a manual mirror-face adjustment mirror.
So you can see simply push on the mirror there to adjust it to where you need it. Our mirror is made of a durable plastic housing with a textured black finish. It's going to hold up well for you and look very nice. As far as the installation, it's going to be extremely simple. It's going to have the same footprint as our original mirror. So we're not going to have to drill any holes or anything like that.
The hardest part of getting this installed is probably going to be gaining access to where your original mirror is mounted on. You're going to have to remove some trim inside your vehicle to get back to that. But once you get there, it's going to be very easy to get this put on in its place. Simply remove your old mirror, put this one on, you've got all the mounts and hardware that you need to get it installed. This is the driver's side mirror. We also have the passenger side here at etrailer.com or if you prefer, we also have a kit that includes both the passenger and the driver's side, so that you get both sides taken care of.We'll give you a few dimensions here.
This top mirror is six and a quarter inch tall by eight and a quarter inches wide. The spotter mirror is the same eight inches wide, but it is three and one eight of an inch tall. When we have our mirror extended out from the edge here to our vehicle is going to be 22 and a half inches when we have it retracted like it is now from the edge to our vehicle is going to be 19 inches. This mirror is FMVSS approved, and it does come with a 90 day warranty from K-Source. That's going to complete our look at the K-Source custom extendable towing mirror..
