Ready Brute Elite Towing and Braking System

The Ready Brute Elite package is a heavy-duty, reliable system for towing a vehicle behind your RV. The Ready Brute tow bar's triple-lug connection ensures a sturdy hookup to the included adapter bar, which then connects the tow bar to your Roadmaster classic (standard), XL or EX base plates via the included Quick Disconnects. The Ready Brake supplemental braking system, built right into the front of the tow bar, is a mechanically linked, surge-activated unit that uses the weight and forward motion of your towed vehicle to safely slow down and stop it. When combined with lighting hookups (38955; sold separately) and a breakaway system (NSARS5000; sold separately), these economically priced components give you a complete towing experience that is both efficient and effective.

Ready Brake Surge Braking System

The Ready Brute Elite tow bar with Ready Brake supplemental braking system ensures that your towed vehicle brakes in proportion to the slowing motion of your RV. When you apply the brakes in your motor home, your rig begins to slow down. At the same time, the forward momentum of your towed vehicle pushes it toward the rear of your RV, essentially compressing your towing setup. The Ready Brake then activates as a result of this compression.

Holes are drilled through the towed vehicle's bumper and firewall, and the included aircraft cable is run in two parts. A shorter cable is run from the Ready Brake's actuating arm to the cable coming through the bumper of the towed vehicle. The shorter cable is hooked up to the second cable when you hook up the tow bar. The second cable is permanently mounted to the tow vehicle's bumper, run from the bumper through the engine compartment and firewall, and then attached to the brake pedal with a bracket. This cable is mounted in a tube that allows it to be snaked through the engine compartment, even coiled up, and still work perfectly.

How It Works

Ready Brake Animation

When you apply your motor home's brakes, your towed vehicle surges forward and activates the Ready Brake's actuating arm. This in turn pulls the aircraft cable that is attached to your towed vehicle's brake pedal, causing the towed vehicle to slow down and stop in time with your RV.

The in-cab LED monitor (included) monitors the activity of the Ready Brake, lighting up to indicate that the braking system is activated. It plugs into the Ready Brake unit at the back of your motor home and wires directly into a 12-volt power source on your RV. This will require that a hole be drilled into your motor home's dashboard. A helpful in-cab LED brake indicator (NSADL100; sold separately) indicates that your towed vehicle's brakes are being applied.

Cut-Out

The Ready Brake activates only when you apply the brakes in your motor home. A built-in, oil-filled shock absorber and a 250-pound spring prevent the unit from activating when your towed vehicle would otherwise surge forward slightly in some light braking and downhill situations.

Tow Bar Arms

Non-Binding, Self-Aligning Design

The Ready Brute's telescoping arms make it easy to attach the towed vehicle, or dinghy, to the tow bar, even if the dinghy is not in a straight line behind your RV. These arms extend so that they easily reach the Roadmaster adapter bar on your towed vehicle. Simply release the telescoping arms and connect the ends to the adapter bar. Once the ends are attached, pull your RV forward. The tow bar arms will work their way into the travel position and automatically lock in place. The non-binding design helps with disconnecting, especially on uneven ground - just turn the twist-cam mechanisms on the arms and remove the pins.

Tow Bar Shank

Simple Attachment

The Ready Brute Elite tow bar slides into your RV's 2-inch hitch receiver and is held in place with a standard 5/8-inch diameter hitch pin and clip. You will want it to sit fairly level when installed. If the difference in height from your hitch to your base plates is greater than 2 inches, then you will need to add a high-low adapter (sold separately) to your hitch. This will ensure that your tow bar and braking system will function properly.

Roadmaster Adapter Bar BracketRoadmaster Clevis

Triple-Lug Connection

The clevis connection on this tow bar works with Roadmaster adapter bars RM-025, RM-033, and the included RM-032. One side of the adapter bar features Roadmaster's Quick Disconnect attachment system. The adapter bar mounts to your Roadmaster base plates with Quick Disconnects, securing quickly and easily with the included linchpins. The other side of the adapter bar has tabs where the Ready Brute arms attach. Each of the arms has a clevis connection with a triple-lug design that surrounds both of the adapter-bar tabs, creating a sturdy, secure connection that is easy to use. Simply align the lugs with the adapter-bar tabs, insert the keeper pin and secure it with the clip.

Sturdy, Lightweight Construction

The Ready Brute tow bar arms are constructed of sturdy, lightweight aluminum, making it easy to maneuver and store. Grade-8 bolts are used at the stress points to ensure strength and safety. Both the tow bar arms and the Ready Brake's heavy-duty steel shank have a silver powder coat finish that resists corrosion.

Folded Tow Bar

Self-Stowing Design

When not in use, the Ready Brute Elite system conveniently stores alongside your RV. After disconnecting the tow bar from your towed vehicle, rotate the handles, collapse the arms, and secure the unit with the built-in strap. Shield your stowed bar from the elements with the Ready Brute tow bar cover (NSATBC; sold separately).
