Use this fuse-disconnect system to prep your vehicle to be towed. Simply relocate your car's fuse with this bypass and flip the integrated switch. To drive your car, just flip the switch back on. No need to remove or replace your fuse.

Features:

  • Bypasses towed car's fuse so you can tow your vehicle without draining its battery
    • Provides a simple alternative to removing mini-fuse every time you tow
    • Stores fuse so that you won't lose it
  • Installs quickly, easily and permanently
    • Remove mini-fuse from car's fuse box and install bypass in its place
    • Put fuse into fuse holder
    • Mount bypass switch near fuse box
  • Maintains functionality of mini-fuse when switched on
    • Flip switch to "on" position and drive like normal
  • Overrides mini-fuse when switched off
    • Flip switch to "off" position and you're good to tow
  • 1-Year warranty

Note: Consult vehicle's owner's manual to determine which fuse to pull. Do not install a fuse that has more than a 20-amp rating.

Some automobiles can only be towed if you get under the hood and pull a fuse. If you don't remove this fuse before towing, there's a good chance that your car's battery will be drained by the time you reach your destination.

With this bypass, once the initial installation is complete, you won't have to remove or replace your fuse again. Just pull the fuse indicated in your car's owner's manual and replace it with the bypass. After you install the bypass, insert the removed fuse into the holder of the bypass system. With the fuse installed in this manner, it will still be able to function as needed. Mount the included switch near the fuse box and you're set.

Whenever you need to drive your car, just make sure the switch is flipped into the "on" position. When on, the fuse will be active and your vehicle will function normally. Then, when it comes time to tow, switch the bypass to "off." When off, the fuse will be rendered inactive so that you can flat tow your car without its battery being drained.

Video Transcript for Review of Curt Tow Bar Wiring - Towing Fuse Bypass Switch - C43HR

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com Today, we're going to take a quick look at this Curt Fuse Bypass Switch. This is going to make it much easier for you to disconnect a fuse from your vehicle. So this is gonna be used in those situations where you're wanting to flat-tow your vehicle behind your motor home or RV so that you have a run-around vehicle once you get to the campsite or destination. Some vehicles out there, depending on the make and model, will require your vehicle to be on so that your steering wheel won't lock up, and in most of those cases you are gonna have to pull a fuse, otherwise that will drain your battery so when you get to your destination, you'll have a dead battery and you won't be able to go anywhere. So for those instances where you are gonna have to remove the fuse, this is going to be a great option for you. It's gonna make it a lot easier for you to make that disconnection so you don't have a dead battery but you don't have to worry about manually removing the fuse every time you're going to tow it.

So the way this works, you'll pull the fuse out from wherever it is that is recommended for your vehicle, you can check your owner's manual for that. You'll then take that ATM mini fuse and put it in the receptacle here. And then you can just close that up and leave it until the rest of the time, basically. Then you'll then take the connection points here and put those in place of where the fuse was, and so then when you have your switch in the on position you'll be able to use your vehicle like regular. It's gonna drive around town you'll have power just like you normally would but then when you're ready to tow, you can simply switch it to the off position and it will basically disconnect that fuse for you, break that connection so that power isn't going to be running through your vehicle continually.

So very simple to do. You're not gonna have to worry about manually pulling out the fuse each time, keeping track of it so that when you get back ready to use your vehicle again, you can put the fuse back in. This is gonna be a much simpler, easier option for you. They do have this nut on the back here so you can flush mount this. If you've got space on the side of your fuse panel or somewhere in your engine compartment, you wanna mount this, you can then tighten that nut down on it.

I will say if you are gonna do that, you'd probably gonna need to remove these connection points here first in order to get that all set up. But pretty simple process. You are only gonna have about 14 inches of total links here, so you're probably not gonna be able to route this all the way to your cab where it'd be most convenient. But it's still a very nice option for you to just open up the hood, flip that switch rather than having to dig in and mess with pulling fuses and that sort of thing. So this is going to be just the one ATM mini fuse receptacle.

There is is another option very similar to this that has two ATM mini fuses, we have that available here at etrailer.com. So just depending on your situation, how many fuses you need to pull in order for your battery to be become disengaged. But overall, I think this is a really nice idea, makes it much simpler and easier for you to remove that fuse so that your battery will stay charged and you can enjoy that towed vehicle when you get to your destination. So that's gonna complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..

For a normal mini ATO plug in fuse block this would be great! My 2012 Honda CRV uses mini ATO fuses where the contact is made on the side of the fuse as it slides in. The two separate blade connectors at the end of the switch wiring are VERY HARD to get to stay in the fuse block! I made a small plastic wedge to slide between the blade connectors to force them to stay in position. The quality of the switch is great and installation is easy but if you're trying to put it in a 2012 Honda CRV (and maybe other Honda's with this style fuse block) be aware of this issue.!!

While attempting to install it was impossible to plug in and get it to stay in place. The spade end broke before I was able to get it properly installed. Had to Jerry-rig it to get this inferior product to work. Not worth the time or money.

These are a good alternative to the Roadmaster bypass switches and also cost less. I ended up pulling the wiring out of the plastic conduit. The area where this is used doesn't need it and doing that made it much easier to work with. I made my own labels for Drive and Tow positions. Two of these were worked great at bypassing the four fuses that had to be pulled for flat towing a 2019 Chevrolet Sonic. I used some of my wife's fingernail polish to indicate the drive position, "still need to touch that up a bit". See photo.
