The product fit correctly. The product works great. The staff at etrailer almost lost the sale because the first person I spoke with said that I couldn't flat tow my 2007 Ford Focus. Luckily I am smarter than that guy was and did my own research. the customer relations part is why the rating is average. Check the parts and numbers yourself they may actually have what you need and they just can't figure it out.

I just wanted to give you a heads up that if your 2007 Ford Focus has an automatic transmission then it is suggested to use a tow dolly. If you have a manual transmission, then it can be flat towed. This comes from the manual from Focus. I just wanted to let you know so that your vehicle does not sustain damage.

Pain to install.but works good

Great people to deal with. Order rec'd sooner than expected and the Roadmaster equipment was excellent.

I received the base plate for my Miata at 4:30 Monday by 7:00 it was installed and ready to go.A great product fit very nicely.Ordering and follow up went great can’t wait to try it out Just need to decide on the tow bar we will use.The Falcon or Sterling .Thank you for a great product and service.

The instructions were very good, the video was excellent. If I could make a recommendation, it was a little lacking at the end. Since the Smart car is virtually held together with push pins a little more time spent putting the car back together wourl have been helpful. I'm all done and I have 2 push pins left over and don't know where they go.

by:

After 1 year of full-time use I am very happy with the base kit. It was relatively easy to install with the aid of a car lift. I would imagine that it would be a little harder without.

by:

Installation is a bit involved but worth every second of it for the peace of mind while driving. Had a slight issue with my ordering incorrect parts but these guys went above and beyond to get it resolved in time to not miss my trip. Even rush manufactured them due to not being in stock!! Great company to do business with.

Purchased the towing adapter for my GMC Terrain a few week ago, received it on time & boxed not damaged. Watched the videos’ about three time on how to do it myself and started one evening and finished it the next morning about three hours with Beer Breaks, LoL. All the parts fix perfectly, had no problems with any of the parts, Product is real sturdy and if you don’t know where to look at the bumper you will not see the hide away receiver brackets. Very nice product, do it yourself and save
Up loading two photos if it will let me one is with hide away brackets installed and the other one you can see is my complete tow bar attached to the hide away brackets

Roadmaster base plate for 2010 GMC Terrain. Very detailed instructions, great videos. Product was as described, no holes to drill, just replace factory parts with Roadmaster parts. Everything went together very well. I used the instructions supplied along with the video on my laptop. Hardest part was popping the bumper shroud back on due to colder temperature. I have a fair bit of experience with rebuilding classic cars so have lots tools and reasonable mechanical ability.

Great product.
Excellent fit.
Everything
has performed wonderfully.

Installed on 2014 GMC Acadia. Very sturdy and heavy duty base plate. I installed it myself. You will need a little automotive knowledge and more tools then the average do it yourself-er. It took about 6 hours, by myself. It looks more intimidating then it turned out to be. You can't see it when not in use which makes it nice for the wife, since it's her car.
Pictures show the tow bar adapter. Sorry, no pictures of adapter removed.

by:

This system worked perfectly from experience. They help from trailers e trailer agents was crucial for guiding me through the process.

by:

Product is great, packaging was rough, the parts were banging into each other inside the box. Box looked like it either had been opened before or had sat in a warehouse for several years.

by:

Prepared my vehicle for the base plate. The base plate has a manufacturing defect in that the crossbar is approximately.375 inches short. The hole pattern matched on one side but the other side would not line up with the vehicle holes. The mounting plate overlapped the mounting holes by 1/3rd. Clearly, the assembly was short. I find my disassembled vehicle sitting for a week waiting for the replacement to arrive. Hopefully, Roadmaster QC did a better job on the new base plate assembly that I am waiting for.

by:

Parts came very quickly. The base plates are really well make and of heavy material. If you watch the video it is a breeze to install. Make sure you have some new clips for your bumper as the old ones will break, not all but some. I ordered clips from Amazon. I used a vibrating saw with cutting blade and it did nice job cutting plastic bumper cover.

by:

Service was immediate. Delivered on time. Tracking was exact. My opinion, overall outstanding.

by:

This reasonably priced base plate kit was professionally installed on a coupe that was pulled around the New England states for two months. The kit and the car made it possible to see many sites along the route that would have been bypassed without the toad. The kit is solid and provides secure tow-ability.

2007 MX5
The build quality was good....welds
were well done....paint was good
Instructions were pretty thorough.
Lots of trimming away of the splash shield for this install!!
Oh well...no choice I guess.

by:

I was having problems with the bracket that was on the car when I bought it and when it no longer felt safe to me, I looked on your website for a replacement. Lo and behold, this product appeared to be better designed and an easier installation. Putting 8t on today proved that. I am very happy with the product and your service. Thank you very much!

by:

It is a lot easier to take of the bumper it is all plastic anyway then to take off the air intake

by:

Customer service is very helpful and patient as they walked through everything I needed to set up a car to be towed behind my motorhome.

by:

Very heavy duty. Much more than needed for my application but better more than less.
Heavy duty also means heavy in weight. Not easy to lift and move.

by:

These work great on my suzuki sx4.

by:

Very happy with this product. Installation was pretty easy. I see no reason to pay someone to install this. True you have to take the bumper off and a large metal support beam but it was pretty easy. You just have to take it slow and not get frustrated. The bumper on the Honda Fit is held on with a gazillion little plastic clips and snap joints. Everything fits tight on a Honda so you have to be patient. My only complaint is they don't give you the exact torque settings. I had to consult a shop manual to get the correct torque values. They give a table at the end of the instructions that gives common torque values for various bolt sizes. I thought that was lame they could have given the correct value from the shop manual. Certainly not enough to lower my rating. This bar is awesome and when the drawbars are removed the base plate is almost completely hidden. My wife wanted nothing to show on the front of the car. She was very pleased with it.

In the picture attached the bar is almost completely hidden. All you see are two small black circles. It takes about 2 seconds to mount the drawbars, just twist and go. VERY sturdy. I tow my Honda behind the motorhome with confidence.

I have bought 3 different ones over the years. They all fit perfectly and the videos are so helpful too.

  • Can I Install RoadMaster EZ Base Plate Kit on a 2006 Ford Focus SES ZX4 with Sport Body Package
Using this base plate kit will require minor trimming of the lower grille on the front bumper. This is the only base plate kit available for your 2006 Ford Focus. When not being towed, a portion of this kit can be quickly and easily removed so that the vehicle will look more like it did from the factory. I will send a second email with the instructions attached so you can read through them. There is another way to tow your vehicle that make work better for you. You could use RoadMaster...

  • Towing 2007 Ford Focus
I did some research and found that your 2007 Ford Focus should not be flat towed. You will need to use a tow dolly to tow the vehicle with the front two tires off the ground. A great choice for a tow dolly is the Roadmaster # RM-2050-1. It comes with a 4-way wiring harness to operate the towed car's signal lights. Since your Focus is well under the 3000 pound limit you would be ok to tow with a larger and much heavier vehicle. For safety, handling, and wear on your towing vehicle I...

  • Does RoadMaster Base Plate Kit Part 524407-1 Include a TowBar and Will It Require Bumper Trimming
RoadMaster Base Plate kit, part # 524407-1, only includes the base plates and corresponding installation hardware. It does not include a tow bar or any wiring. You would need to purchase a tow bar separately like part # RM-020. Installing part # 524407-1 will require trimming the lower grille on a stock bumper. It would be safe to assume that it would also require trimming on any aftermarket, factory option or dealer installed body package, but I do not know how much trimming or where...

  • Troubleshooting Excessive Tire Wear on a 2007 Ford Focus when Being Towed by a Motorhome
There are several possible causes for the severe tire wear you are seeing on your Ford Focus. First, if the tow bar is not level with the RVs it can put extra stress (downward force in this case) on the front of the Focus. That extra force can lead to not only tire wear but also potentially damage the tow bar and base plates. Make sure that you have the steering on the Focus unlocked so that it is free to turn when being towed. If the steering is locked, it will cause severe tire wear...
