What's going on, everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Inno square bar roof rack system on our 2017 Toyota RAV4. Putting a roof rack up on top of your roof is really, really good when you're trying to just enable your car to do a little bit more. If you're going on some adventures and you need a little bit more storage space, you can get a cargo basket, you get a cargo box. Or if you wanna put some bikes or kayaks up on top here, we have a bunch of different carriers that are gonna work with our square bars. We have about a 220 pound capacity with these steel square bars.
And we're gonna be limited to the clamp around accessories just because we don't have a T-slot or anything like that. But there is a lot of different options on our website when it comes to accessories. Just going over some dimensions. The length of our bar is gonna be about 46 inches, so they really don't stick out more than an inch on each of our raised side rails. And from the roof to the bottom of our bar, it's gonna be about 3 1/8 of an inch.
And then from the roof to the top of the bar, it's gonna be about four inches. If you do have a sunroof, it is gonna be able to open without us having any issues of it hitting the bar. I really like how the roof rack mounts to our raised side rails. It reminds me of the Yakima system. It has a little coated band.
And the band's gonna be made of steel but it's gonna be coated in rubber, so it's not gonna scratch our side rails. And of course, we're gonna have another little boot on top as well. It does come with locks which is always a plus, so it's not gonna run away on you. And since this is super easy to install, I definitely like the fact that it's gonna lock on our roof. This is kind of a cost-effective option when it comes to getting a roof rack put on your RAV4.
And I think it hits all the different areas that I would look for in a roof rack. But one thing I really like about it is how easy it is to get it on and off. There's no tools or anything like that. There's not a whole different, a lot of adjustments that you have to do to get it fitted onto your roof. So, if you have multiple cars with some raised side rails, they're gonna work pretty well. And it's gonna be a pretty quick installation process to take it on or off. If you do like keeping your roof rack on, you can go ahead and do that. It's nice and solid up on here. Doesn't look too bad. But if you just like to keep it on when you're using it, it'll only take a minute or two to take it off. And it's not going to leave any marks which is always a plus. But let's go over how easy it is to install with you now. First thing you wanna do is take your bar and your feet, and we're gonna put them together. So, we wanna make sure that this is gonna be facing the outside of the bar. We are gonna have to access that later. It's pretty simple stuff. Go ahead and slide it on just like that. And we can do it on the other side as well. We already put the front one on. And they're gonna be pretty close to the edge. What we can do is just kind of measure it on a roof, get a rough estimate, and then we can go ahead and put it up onto the roof. Pretty simple. It's kind of like the Yakima little bands which I really like, but the Innos are a little bit easier to use. You can get the little flap to go underneath. Do that on both sides. This will be a good time to figure out exactly what kind of bar spread you're looking for. And we wanna make sure it's nice and even up on top of our roof when it comes to the overhang of the bars. One thing I like about these feet, which is a little bit different than some of the Yakima sets that you see. I like these because it's really, really quick and easy. You can just go ahead and loosen it up, and that's gonna allow this little strap to come out a little bit more. And we can fit it into that slot, and then tighten it down just like this. Doesn't take long at all. You don't need a tool or anything. And it's really, really quick and easy to get it nice and tight. Folds down just like that. And we can take our cap. It's gonna slide in just like that. And we will get two keys with the kit. And we can go ahead and lock those into place just like that. Last step, endcap. And we are done. And that'll do it for our look at the Inno square bar roof rack system on our 2017 Toyota RAV4..

Bars accommodate carriers and accessories that clamp around bars.These bars are excellent. I like the coating to protect whatever you're hauling. There is absolutely 0 flex with my kayak mounted, unlike the aluminum aero bars I upgraded from.
Very sturdy and well made. The initial fitting took me a few times reading the directions to grasp, but it was also early in the morning so that could have been a user issue. Once all was tightened down though they are rock steady and along with the pads and bars hauled my kayak with ease.
Shipping took considerably longer than originally promised. Product quality & value I consider both to be good.
Worked great! Traveled with a carrier on these racks from Chicago to Seattle. No issues, would buy again!

The Inno product allowed us to use our older style square Thule bars with two Hullavators on our new vehicle which saved us many headaches and money.
Missing Parts - I am missing two of the end-caps for the INB117. What is the deal with INNO quality control that it cannot get 4 of these in a box at the same time and tape it shut? I did a search on Google and apparently this a a known QC issue!

The parts worked well on a 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara Luxury model with factory racks.
Shipping was possibly delayed by the Covid pandemic, but communication from E trailer was very good and it was worth the wait.
I highly recommend E trailer as a vendor.
If you're a Lexus GX460 owner, think the OEM cross bars are wimpy, and don't want to shell out $500-$600 for "aero" style bars, this is for you.
I chose the Inno INXP base over the INTR base because I thought it looked sleeker, and I wanted as much clearance over the shark fin antenna as I could (although both bases clear the antenna, the INXP is taller). The product description is slightly different for the two bases, but both of them are able to slide along the factory flush rails. Choosing between the two is a matter of taste.
A couple of hints for installation:
-I didn't receive an English copy of the installation instructions for the base, but was able to figure it out anyway. You could easily find them online.
-The screws that come with the base aren't needed, use the longer ones that come with the fit kit.
-Loosely attach the fit hooks, clip the base on top, slide the rail through, THEN tighten the screws.
-When putting the fit hooks on the rails before putting the base on top, make sure the screws are backed out as much as physically possible without disconnecting. Even still there is very little play when sliding the rails through before tightening everything down. It would be nice if the screws were even 1/8" longer, but it would only make installation easier. Once everything is tightened down it's as solid as can be.
Overall I'm very happy. I like the more rugged look of the square bars, and shaking them moves the whole vehicle and they don't budge.
I got the whole kit...on Marc C's recommendation. He was so very patient and helpful! The kit is great. I am not so versed in doing such things so my neighbor put it on the car for me. He was just over and over again extolling the Praises of the instructions. He said they're the best ones he ever used. It fits on the car, it feels solid, and it looks great. I'm very very happy with it. Thank you so much!

One of the lesser expensive rack kits for the Mazda5. etrailer delivered excellent! They had items in stock and shipped quick. I finally had a chance to install it this evening. My only frustration was evening out the bars. Measure, adjust and measure and adjust. I'll look into getting a fairing to reduce wind noise.
Fit was good. Hauled a roof top carrier 2000 miles with no issues. Wind noise was minimal.
Easy to install. Installed with the wife in about 30 minutes with the Inno foot pads. No wind noise.
My order showed up quicker than expected and installed without too much hassle by myself. My only issue is that I expected the adapter parts to level out the mounting feet so that the two cross bars are in line. But nothing like that occurred so the bars sit at an able to each other. Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems to still work, just not what I expected.
I got these to replace my OE roof racks. The square shape is perfect for Yakima Bowdown kayak racks. Solid!

Same as for the install kit. Too many part, too much install, and I didn't have the confidence in it that I would like. I think they try to adapt a 'standard' kit and then wind up having to include more hardware to make it work. Disappointing.
This product worked perfectly for what I needed. It carried my 80lb, 12ft kayak with ease on top of my Nissan Altima.
