Video Transcript for etrailer Flat Hooks Ratchet Strap Review

What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out this ratchet strap with a flat hook on it that works in the stake pocket of your trailer. Comes in a quantity of one. Let's check it out. Great way to tie down any cargo on your flatbed trailer, or whatever trailer you have, that has the stake pockets because it has the flat hooks on the ends that run up through and clamp onto the outside. So you see (metal rubbing) the cargo's not moving anywhere.

I'm actually shaking the trailer because they're so tied down. The straps themselves are gonna be 30 foot long. They're gonna be two inches wide. They're also made out of a polyester webbing. So it's gonna hold up.

It's a seatbelt-like material. So you don't have to worry about it ripping or tearing easily. The straps are also gonna be rated for a safe working load limit of 3,333 pounds, and they're gonna have a brake strength of 10,000 pounds. So keep that in mind with what you wanna haul. This is gonna be the flat hook that goes into the stake pocket.

I wanna show you the strap part here. This is gonna wear a lot of stress is gonna be on this loop where the hook is. It's got the double stitching there. So it's definitely reinforced to handle that tension that's put on the strap. Moving up the strap to the ratcheting mechanism works really well, and once you feed that strap right through the center, you have a nice-sized handle.

I can put my whole hand in there, and it's got the coating. So I'm not just grabbing metal, which makes it easy to operate or tighten down when you need to. So you can go all the way out like this. This is gonna be where it breaks the tension. You hold that handle, bring it down. Now you can ratchet, and then when it's done, you can close it all the way like that. It's gonna have a zinc coating on the metal parts. So you don't have to worry about the elements bothering it. It's not gonna rust or corrode if you leave it outside. I really like that coating on the handle. Like I said, I'm not grabbing straight up metal because it is kinda sharp here. So I'd much rather grab this and use this to operate the handle because it's gonna be safer. Let's go over how to use the flat hook. So when you're using it in your stake pocket, you do not wanna hook it up like this. You see, with the strap loose, it's just gonna come off there. So you can lose a strap if something comes loose. How it's supposed to work is it feeds up through the stake pocket and attaches up top. So that way it's gonna be pulling against itself, holding in place. So now even with a loose strap, you see it's not coming off of there. So that's good. So when you go to tighten it down, it's even more secure. (metal rubbing) Now, when you are done, you wanna take the extra strap and tie that up. You don't want that flapping on the trailer when you're going down the road because that could make it come loose or just be hazardous for your cargo. So there's a few different ways you can tie it down, and just make sure you tie it down and keep it in place. Overall, I do like this ratchet strap, like how easy it was to set up, especially if you have the stake pockets on the side of your trailer. Why not use them I like that the flat hook goes right there on top with the tension on there. I know that my cargo's gonna be safe. So whether you're adding more to your existing kit, or you're building a new kit, these ratchet straps are gonna work great. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and hope this helped.
