Video Transcript for WeatherTech Air Deflectors Review - 2014 Toyota Tundra

Today on our 2014 Toyota Tundra Double Cab, we're going to be doing a test fit of the WeatherTech Side Window Air Deflectors. These are in the dark tint. It's a 4 piece so it's made to fit both front and rear windows. Part number on that is WT82450. Now, in your package you'll have product catalog, installation instructions, we're going to have warranty information, and we'll have 2 front and 2 rear Air Deflectors. The Air Deflectors are made of a 3 millimeter acrylic. They're nice, long lasting, and durable.

They've got a very low profile design. It's going to keep with that OE or a factory style look. Now, these serve a couple purposes. 1, on those really hot days, you can leave your windows cracked just a little bit, you don't have to worry about rain getting in. You're going to allow that heat to escape.

Also, something I found they come in really handy for is, when you get in your car and you're wet, you're damp, you can crack those window down, again the rain's not going to come in but you're going to let that moisture out so you're not building up a bunch of frost or something on the inside that you need to get taken care of. Installation is completely tool free. It's a simple process. Let me go ahead and take you through it and let's just see exactly what it's going to entail. We'll start on our front, we've already got our passenger sides installed. It's the exact same thing, front to back.

We want to roll our driver side window down, far enough to where it's well below our corner here at the top. If you look right up here, we want it to also have a gap here between the leading edge of that wind, or window in the front side of the truck there. With that window down, we'll grab our Air Deflector. Here at the front, you'll notice there's a little recess area. We want to position the lower portion of that so it will rest right on top of the weather stripping hanger.

We don't want that to be tucked back in, we want that to be right out on that front edge. Once we have that in position, we're going to move here to the rear. We bow out the Air Deflector slightly and we'll position it in so that will fit in that crack. We want to leave about 1/4 or 1/2 inch gap there. Now, my front side came out on me so I'm just going to reposition that back in. Now, it's time to start working it in to place. As you can see, it slides in there very nicely. You work it in from the front to the back. Sometimes you will need to pull down and rotate it in. But as you can see, that went right in, no issues, no problem. Now, to seat it properly, we'll do that with our window. I'll kind of get back so you can see. We'll start bringing our window up. Now, we want to press out on the Deflector as we do that and allow that window to pass freely up behind it. Once we get to the rear here just like on the front, we pull out on it slightly, allow our window to come up behind it. Now, we're going to roll our window down slightly and back up and we're going to do this 5 times. That helps to properly seat our channel in there, or our Air Deflector into our channel. That's all there is for the front. Thing's installed and we're ready to go. Now let's look at the rear. We'll do the same thing by rolling our window down. This one doesn't have to go down as far. Of course, the Air Deflector should be here at the top. We'll now take the Deflector and we've got 3 pieces of automotive tape here. Now, the great thing about these end channel designed Air Deflectors, you'll see you'd have to put tape here on the outside of your paint. We'll just be sticking on right to the outside just like that. It was great, they serve their purpose, but when they needed to be replaced, get all these tape and stuff running along your vehicle. That's when end channel design has come from. You just want to bring it down to where we can get it fit into the window channel. We'll slide it up into position and then we pull outward on it gently, all the way around to help that seat into place on the outside of our window channel. Then, just like we did on the front, we're going to start bringing our window up. The front edge meets before the rear, so pull out on that first. Once you have that passed, we'll pull out on the rear and bring that on up as well. Now, just like the front, we're going to do 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 cycles of the window. Then we're going to leave that window up for 12 to 24 hours to give it plenty of time to seat. With the Air Deflectors installed on our 2014 Toyota Tundra, that will complete today's test fit of the WeatherTech Side Window Air Deflectors. Part number WT82450. .

Easy to install, I never cared for the double tape style. These are functionally better and look better in my opinion. 2020 tundra, I did only receive the fronts but like always etrailer are shipping the rears out ASAP. Great company and great customer service

I like these and they do what they were designed for. I didn't need the tape during the install and they stay in place. On the front doors there is a slight rattle or flapping but hardly noticable. I didn't realize it for 6 months.

Very pleased with the quality and how easy they were to install.

First bad experience with a WeatherTech product. Do not recommend for 2010-2014 Ford Expedition or similar models. I see 4 flaws.

3 of 4 pieces cracked at the corner even when I tried to be as gentle as possible in incrementally raising windows once installed. It seems to be just a few millimeters too oversized.

Second, Rear windows will not raise all the way back in place due to thickness of plastic, it stops. You have to push windshield up while holding the switch.
I was worried that this force would damage the window tint due to excess friction and it may push the rubber out to the point it would be damaged if I took them off months or years later.

Third, and arguably the most important. Too much wind noise. The Ford Expedition is very quiet for an SUV. I tried these for close to a week and I had to take them off. It sounded like gusty wind noise even when there was no wind other then the vehicle going through the air. I removed them and the SUV was quiet again.

Four, It isn't optically correct. Hard to see in the photo, but when looking at the area between the A pillar and side mirror, it's wavy and distracting. Also makes the A pillar appear much larger when it's darker outside due to the tint.

So even though they look nice, and you can crack your windows in the rain if your car is sitting still or you never exceed 50 mph... I wasn't able to get comfortable with the above issues. I can't return them since I installed them and tried them. But hopefully someone else can benefit from this.

by:

It’s still early. I did the upgrade while in a walking boot (cannot drive) due to an Achilles rupture. So I can only comment on the install, which was much easier on the back windows. The front windows were a little awkward but eventually went in. I don’t like the ‘clunk’ as the window closes in the last inch or so. The window comes in contact with the deflector and clunks. I hope the plastic heats / cools and reforms as it sits over the next few days. Otherwise I like the look and finish, it’s just the fit which I’m not completely convinced off yet.

These weather tech side window rain guards are really well made. Front ones installed easily and allow us to crack open the windows even in the rain. I could not for the life of me install the rear ones, or I would have given them 5 stars.

by:

The front rain guards fit my 2023 Passport perfectly. The rears weren't setting correctly in the window seal and neither rear window would roll up completely. Also, when I remove the two rear rain guards, I noticed the thinnest part, which is supposed to go between the window seal and the glass had broken in use. I have no patience for this, so I threw the rears in the trash. In retrospect, I'd have have rated these a 5 if I'd only purchased the fronts.

by:

I put these window deflectors on my 2018 Chevrolet Cruze LT. I love the look it gives on my car, and the option it gives me when it is raining to roll down my window. I would give this a 5-star rating and 100% recommendation

by:

I didn't know how much I would love these rain guards until I finally bought and installed them. Install is easy. etrailer shipping quickly. It's been a year and they have held up to the sun and rain, and look brand new still. They work GREAT. Highly recommend!

by:

Very satisfied and pleased with my purchase experience from etrailer and the weather-tech side door window guards.
Glad I finally converted to weather tech. Installation was simple and no need of vht tapes.
Fitment is perfect, real clean low profile look , as if they belong there.
Highly recommend etrailer and the quality products they offer and professional experience . Top notch customer communication!
Looking forward to working with them for future purchases..

Helps keep the vehicle cooler in the heat. Easy installation.

by:

Love these, much better than the ones that stick to the outside of the door frame. They tuck in nice and sleek, are great for keeping the rain out. Put them on all my cars now.

by:

They wouldn’t stay on the front windows with the window rolled down, the drivers side blew off, so I removed the passenger side. The rears are snug 2018 lexus gx 460.

by:

Love the rain guards.

by:

Looks good and easy to install, just watch the installation videos.

by:

paid the little extra to go with these well made and excellent fitting window vents as other "stick ons" just dont last. I bought from etrailer as they track shipping and assure delivery.

very pleased!

highly recommend WeathTech & etrailer

by:

Easy installation, arrived fast and great price!

by:

What else would you expect from weathertech??? Proven quality!!

by:

Don't look to close. I think that products coming from a company that prides itself on custom fit, the fit would be better. The reveal along the top is very uneven. Instructions say to roll window up very slowly, right, power windows. First time up, crack, :( . Luckily the cracked piece is small and hidden.

by:

Easy to install, though took a little gentle extra effort to "encourage" them into the window frames. It causes just a little wind noise, but that is expected, as it impedes the aerodynamics of the car.

by:

Easy install. Arrived within week of ordering. They work great on my class c motorhome.
