Video Transcript for WeatherTech Front and Rear Air Deflectors Installation - 2013 Chevrolet Silverado

Today on our 2013 Chevy Silverado, we'll be installing the Weather Tech Side Window Air Deflectors for both the front and rear doors on our crew cab pickup part number WT84426. Here is what they look on the driver side installed. Now we'll move over to the passenger side and show you how to install it. To begin our install, we'll start on the passenger side with the windows down. Starting here with our front window deflector, we'll put the bottom corner in first, we are putting inside the window channel sliding it into place. Now once we've get about half way up the door, I'm going to move to the back corner, flex the wind deflector and slide the back corner into the window channel and then slide it up into place, slide it up into position and lock it in place.

We can can go ahead and operate the window and just like that we've got our front one installed. Now we move to the rear window. For the rear door wind deflector, we'll first need to remove the adhesive strips. We'll start at the back corner sliding it up into position and then move to the front corner slide it into the window channel pushing them both all the way up into place and then pulling out on the wind deflector. As we push it up into the window channel, that we get a good cohesive connection. Next we'll take the retention clip and slide it into position.

The retention clip sits along the window channel on the outside weather stripping uptight to the wind deflector and just gets pressed into place. Then we'll go ahead and operate the window. Just like that in a few minutes we've gone ahead and install all 4 of our wind deflectors and we are ready to hit the road and that will do it for the install and setup of our Weather Tech Side Window Air Deflectors part number WT84426 on our 2013 Chevy Silverado. .

First bad experience with a WeatherTech product. Do not recommend for 2010-2014 Ford Expedition or similar models. I see 4 flaws.

3 of 4 pieces cracked at the corner even when I tried to be as gentle as possible in incrementally raising windows once installed. It seems to be just a few millimeters too oversized.

Second, Rear windows will not raise all the way back in place due to thickness of plastic, it stops. You have to push windshield up while holding the switch.
I was worried that this force would damage the window tint due to excess friction and it may push the rubber out to the point it would be damaged if I took them off months or years later.

Third, and arguably the most important. Too much wind noise. The Ford Expedition is very quiet for an SUV. I tried these for close to a week and I had to take them off. It sounded like gusty wind noise even when there was no wind other then the vehicle going through the air. I removed them and the SUV was quiet again.

Four, It isn't optically correct. Hard to see in the photo, but when looking at the area between the A pillar and side mirror, it's wavy and distracting. Also makes the A pillar appear much larger when it's darker outside due to the tint.

So even though they look nice, and you can crack your windows in the rain if your car is sitting still or you never exceed 50 mph... I wasn't able to get comfortable with the above issues. I can't return them since I installed them and tried them. But hopefully someone else can benefit from this.

It’s still early. I did the upgrade while in a walking boot (cannot drive) due to an Achilles rupture. So I can only comment on the install, which was much easier on the back windows. The front windows were a little awkward but eventually went in. I don’t like the ‘clunk’ as the window closes in the last inch or so. The window comes in contact with the deflector and clunks. I hope the plastic heats / cools and reforms as it sits over the next few days. Otherwise I like the look and finish, it’s just the fit which I’m not completely convinced off yet.

by:

These weather tech side window rain guards are really well made. Front ones installed easily and allow us to crack open the windows even in the rain. I could not for the life of me install the rear ones, or I would have given them 5 stars.

by:

The front rain guards fit my 2023 Passport perfectly. The rears weren't setting correctly in the window seal and neither rear window would roll up completely. Also, when I remove the two rear rain guards, I noticed the thinnest part, which is supposed to go between the window seal and the glass had broken in use. I have no patience for this, so I threw the rears in the trash. In retrospect, I'd have have rated these a 5 if I'd only purchased the fronts.

by:

I put these window deflectors on my 2018 Chevrolet Cruze LT. I love the look it gives on my car, and the option it gives me when it is raining to roll down my window. I would give this a 5-star rating and 100% recommendation

by:

I didn't know how much I would love these rain guards until I finally bought and installed them. Install is easy. etrailer shipping quickly. It's been a year and they have held up to the sun and rain, and look brand new still. They work GREAT. Highly recommend!

by:

Very satisfied and pleased with my purchase experience from etrailer and the weather-tech side door window guards.
Glad I finally converted to weather tech. Installation was simple and no need of vht tapes.
Fitment is perfect, real clean low profile look , as if they belong there.
Highly recommend etrailer and the quality products they offer and professional experience . Top notch customer communication!
Looking forward to working with them for future purchases..

Helps keep the vehicle cooler in the heat. Easy installation.

by:

Love these, much better than the ones that stick to the outside of the door frame. They tuck in nice and sleek, are great for keeping the rain out. Put them on all my cars now.

  • Do Weathertech Rain Guards Block Hard Winds from Entering Vehicle
The Weathertech Window Rain Guards part # WT84426 that you referenced are mainly designed to allow you to open the vehicle window while it's raining so that you can have some outside air circulation without allowing the rain into the vehicle. As someone who has them on their Tahoe I can say they do block some air turbulence from entering the vehicle when the window is down as well. But will you be able to put your whole elbow out the window without getting a hard breeze on it? The answer...
