Note: Always replace your struts in pairs, where applicable. Most liftgates have a strut on each side. Failure to replace both struts can result in a warped or damaged hinge.
Gas Strut with Exceptional Stability
Most gas struts consist of a tube filled with pressurized nitrogen gas, a piston, and rod. The Atlas Lift strut, however, has a dynamic damping groove inside the tube that regulates gas movement across the piston. This ensures your liftgate stays open when you want it open and shuts slowly without bouncing or slamming. Lastly, in contrast to struts that only have gas in the chamber, a few drops of oil have been mixed in to help seal the piston and lubricate the rod. This allows your liftgate to move more smoothly as the rod travels in and out of the tube.

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this custom-fit hatch lift support arm. This is a gas strut that's gonna replace one lift support arm on the hatch of your 2009 through 2019 Dodge Journey. The arm will extend to hold your hatch open and that will gently compress while closing and so that you're not gonna have to worry about smashing your fingers and that sort of thing. It does have the nylon ball socket connectors on each end that's going to install directly onto your existing OEM fittings, so very simple to get installed. When we have it extended like this from the center of one ball socket to the center of the other, it's about 19 11/16 of an inch.
When it's compressed, it's gonna compress down to about 11 1/2 inches. You are just gonna get the one lift support with this although it is recommended to install them in pairs, so keep that in mind when deciding if you just need the one or two. This does feature dampening technology that's going to provide a nice, smooth operation that helps to eliminate any bouncing or jumping. It's going to ensure nice frictionless movement in all weather conditions. This does have a nitride coated steel shaft that is gonna be corrosion resistant, providing nice long lasting performance.
It does come with a limited lifetime warranty, so if you we're to have any issues with it, you're more than welcome to reach out to us here at etrailer.com.
