Use this fuse-disconnect system to prep your vehicle to be towed. Simply relocate your car's fuses with this bypass and flip the integrated switch. To drive your car, just flip the switch back on. No need to remove or replace your fuses.

Features:

  • Bypasses towed car's fuses so you can tow your vehicle without draining its battery
    • Provides a simple alternative to removing mini-fuses every time you tow
    • Stores fuses so that you won't lose them
  • Installs quickly, easily and permanently
    • Remove mini-fuses from car's fuse box and install bypass in their place
    • Put fuses into fuse holders
    • Mount bypass switch near fuse box
  • Maintains functionality of mini-fuses when switched on
    • Flip switch to "on" position and drive like normal
  • Overrides mini-fuses when switched off
    • Flip switch to "off" position and you're good to tow
  • 1-Year warranty

Note: Consult vehicle's owner's manual to determine which fuses to pull. Do not install a fuse in the Curt Fuse ByPass that has more than a 20-amp rating.

Some automobiles can only be towed if you get under the hood and pull a fuse. If you don't remove this fuse before towing, there's a good chance that your car's battery will be drained by the time you reach your destination.

With this bypass, once the initial installation is complete, you won't have to remove or replace your fuses again. Just pull the fuses indicated in your car's owner's manual and replace them with the bypass. After you install the bypass, insert the removed fuses into the holder of the bypass system. With the fuses installed in this manner, they will still be able to function as needed. Mount the included switch near the fuse box and you're set.

Whenever you need to drive your car, just make sure the switch is flipped into the "on" position. When on, the fuses will be active and your vehicle will function normally. Then, when it comes time to tow, switch the bypass to "off." When off, the fuses will be rendered inactive so that you can flat tow your car without its battery being drained.

Video Transcript for Review of Curt Tow Bar Wiring - Towing Fuse Bypasses Switch- 2 Mini-Fuse - C63HR

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at this cut fuse bypass switch. This is gonna be used in situations where you're wanting to flat tow your vehicle behind your RV or motor home so that you have a runaround vehicle once you get to your campsite. But your vehicle is going to require a fuse to be pulled in order to flat tow it. So it's not going to be for every vehicle out there but there are some vehicles that require you to have it in the arm position so that your steering wheel doesn't lock up. And if you leave it in the arm position the whole time you're towing, you're likely gonna have a dead battery by the time you get to your destination.

So some vehicles do require you to pull a fuse. That's where this is going to make it a whole lot easier for you. Basically what this does is you'll pull the fuse the one time and then you'll put it in these sockets here. These receptacles will accept that fuse and then allow you to plug into where the fuse normally would be. And that way, when you're driving around town like normal, everything's working perfectly but then you have the option to flip that switch.

And that is going to break that connection as if you had removed the fuse so that your vehicle's battery won't die as you're towing that. So instead of having to go in and manually pull that fuse every time, you've got that little switch there. It's going to make it very convenient for you to just switch on and off. So after you're done towing, you're ready to go drive around, flip it into arm position and you're ready to go. You don't have to keep track of where the fuse is and that sort of thing.

This is going to provide two receptacles for your mini fuses up to 20 amp ratings. So very easy to just switch those out and put those in. You will need to refer to your vehicle owner's manual to know which fuse you need to pull for your vehicle. But once you get those put in place, it's going to be very simple to just flip that switch. Now, this does have the option of allowing you to flush mount the switch.

So somewhere near your fuse compartment you've got a place where you can drill a big enough hole for that to mount in place. And then that backing nut will tighten down. So that that's right there available for you. The one thing I will say about that is you will probably have to remove these connectors in order to get that hooked up if you're wanting to use that flush mount kind of style there. But overall, a really convenient way of allowing your vehicle to be flat towed without having to go in and manually pull those fuses every time. So that's going to complete our work for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..

These are a good alternative to the Roadmaster bypass switches and also cost less. I ended up pulling the wiring out of the plastic conduit. The area where this is used doesn't need it and doing that made it much easier to work with. I made my own labels for Drive and Tow positions. Two of these were worked great at bypassing the four fuses that had to be pulled for flat towing a 2019 Chevrolet Sonic. I used some of my wife's fingernail polish to indicate the drive position, "still need to touch that up a bit". See photo.

For a normal mini ATO plug in fuse block this would be great! My 2012 Honda CRV uses mini ATO fuses where the contact is made on the side of the fuse as it slides in. The two separate blade connectors at the end of the switch wiring are VERY HARD to get to stay in the fuse block! I made a small plastic wedge to slide between the blade connectors to force them to stay in position. The quality of the switch is great and installation is easy but if you're trying to put it in a 2012 Honda CRV (and maybe other Honda's with this style fuse block) be aware of this issue.!!

While attempting to install it was impossible to plug in and get it to stay in place. The spade end broke before I was able to get it properly installed. Had to Jerry-rig it to get this inferior product to work. Not worth the time or money.
