Jeff: Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this Taylor Made 48 inch long Fiberglass Low Profile Dock Box. Now a dock box is that big box that you'll see on a lake dock or marina walkway, usually right in front of the boat slip. And it's used to store items that you don't need while you're out on the boa, or you've already gone home. You could use it for life jackets, fishing gear, water sports gear, electronics, most anything else that could fit in there.

And technically, you could even use this dock box on your boat but it's really designed to fit on your dock. It is a nice strong fiberglass construction. It's very durable. Uses a protective gel coat over the whole box, makes it corrosion and UV resistant. The lid on it, right up at the top here, has a nice foam core lid for strength and durability.And on the very front, it has this stainless steel latch.

And what that does is you can actually open it up. Let me just zoom in. We'll talk about it. If you see that latch, how to open it up, all you have to do is pull up on this latch and it will unhook, and then raise up on it and then you can lift the whole lid up. And then when you go to close it, you just put it around there, put that back up under the hook, and then you push it all the way closed.

And what's nice about it is it has a hole in that latch that you could actually put a padlock right through there and lock it so nobody can get into it.Now, just want to zoom back out and we'll talk about the interior of this. We open the lid up on the interior. It's a nice, smooth interior surface, makes it very easy to clean. And also because it's nice and smooth, it prevents any of the fiberglass splinters from getting in your hands when you're trying to store stuff or retrieve items out of it. If you notice on that end, it has a nice gas strut that will help keep the lid open on any rocking docks or if there's any high winds and it allows for a slower, more controlled closing.

When you go to close your lid, instead of it just slamming shut, you can see it will hold it in position and it's a nice close, and then you just latch your handle there and you're all ready to go.As we mentioned, it's a nice heavy duty stainless steel latch. Also, it uses a nice stainless steel piano hinge, right where the lid is. Almost the full length of the lid is a piano hinge. It makes it very sturdy. See if I can turn this a little bit, you might be able to see some of the piano hinge right back in here. It goes all the way, the length of the lid.And as we mentioned, the latch, the piano hinge, they're all stainless steel. Mostly all the hardware on this is stainless steel because it's sturdy and corrosion resistant. That's the best material to use when it's going to be around water.Now, I do want to give you a few dimensions on this. We're going to give you the outside dimensions. If we go overall length, and I'm going to give you the widest point part which is going to be right at the lid here. You're looking right at 48 inches long. The width on it, 18 and a half inches wide. And the depth from the bottom here to the very top of the lid, that is going to be right at about 20 inches deep. Now, the inside dimensions, if we open it back up and I'm just going to measure the bottom here. In other words, from here to here and from there that there. If we go lengthwise, the inside, is going be right at 44 inches. The width on it, right at 14 and a half inches. And the depth again, which is bottom to the very top right here, is right at about 16 inches deep.And this part is made in the USA. Go ahead and close it and latch it.
