Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered converter reduces strain on wiring system.
Features:
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area on the driver's side and passenger's side. You will have to remove the rear threshold and some interior lining to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, run the red hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in your trunk.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins Plug-In, Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with with the four pole flat trailer connector. This product fits certain years of the Acura TSX and Honda Accord. You can use the vehicle fit guide located at etrailer.com to ensure that this is a fit for your vehicle. It's going to provide a four way flat connector at the back of your vehicle, it'll power your trailer's signal lights. This is compatible with five pole, six pole, and seven pole adapters. Adapters are sold separately and it does come with a dust cap for the four way flat connector. That way you can cover up your connection points when it's not being used; simply secures around the plug, just like that.
Then it goes over and protects those terminals. The black box on the unit right here, this is the included taillight convertor. This ensures that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer's. This powered module connects directly to the vehicle battery through the wiring to avoid overloading the vehicle's electrical system. It is designed to connect quickly and easily. It also comes with detailed installation instructions to help walk you through the entire process step by step.
Basically, what you'll need to do is locate the connection points in your rear cargo area. Then you're going to have all these connections to make. These plugs are custom fit for your vehicle, so they're going to match up perfectly with the ports on the vehicle, and they're going to snap lock together for a nice, tight, secure fit. Once you have those connected, you'll need to make a ground connection. That's your white wire with the ring terminal attached to it. You want to get that grounded to a suitable grounding location with the included grounding screw.
Then you'll need to mount your converter box to an out of the way location. It's got a mount located on each side, that way you can use the provided cable ties to get that secured out of the way. Then you'll need to run the hot lead to the vehicle batter. The hot lead is this wire right here with the butt connector on it. This gets connected to one end of the bundle of wiring.
The other end of the bundle runs to the vehicle battery and gets connected to one half of the fuse holder here at the but connector. The other half of the fuse holder has a ring terminal on it, and that gets connected to the positive post of the vehicle battery. The unit also comes with your 20 amp fuse, goes in here, it's got the cap that goes over to keep it safe and protected. Once you have that done, you can secure any excess or slack in your wiring with the remaining cable ties. Once the installation's complete, the four way connector is going to be stowed in your rear cargo area. Plenty of wiring here so you can pull it out when you need it, tuck it away when you don't. It is recommended that you use a small amount of terminal grease on all your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the four pole connector itself. The grease is going to help prevent corrosion to the terminals, and that grease packet is included with the kit. That's going to do it for today's look at the Hopkins Plug-In, Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with the four pole flat trailer connector.
