This is the 7-Way you'd currently plug your gooseneck/5th wheel trailer wiring into.   If your 2016 Ford F-250 doesn't already have a factory trailer connector then the Hopkins # HM11140755 is what you need.   I suspect the issue with the running light circuit on your 4-pole trailer wiring setup is either related to internal damage or corrosion of the connector. Since your truck headlights still work we know that circuit is active.
