Heavy-Duty Tie-Downs

Heavy-duty strength in a lightweight package: the TorkLift Talon tie-downs are the premium choice for heavy truck campers and unforgiving climates. Made of military-grade aluminum alloy, the removable arms are rustproof and robust while also being lightweight and easy to handle. The receiver brackets are constructed of rugged stainless steel, and both components are protected by a high-impact powder coat finish that guards against wear and tear.

A Safe Ride is a Comfortable Ride

If you're looking for the best tie-downs for your camper, frame-mounted is the way to go. The frame is the most solid part of your entire vehicle, so it just makes sense to attach your camper to something that's not going to warp, bend, or twist. Even more importantly, the camper's center of gravity is going to sit lower and its weight will be spread across the entire bed. This avoids a top-heavy load perched on top of your bed rails that's liable to sway and get pushed around by crosswinds. The camper's not going to shift or slide around while you drive; it's going to stay put, and your truck is going to handle just like it does without a camper.

Quick Tip: If you have a plastic or spray-in bed liner, it's important that you use a rubber mat under the camper to eliminate any sliding or bouncing.

Don't Ruin Your Truck's Looks

how will tork lift talon tie downs look on my truck

Frame-mounted tie-downs are also a great pick for preserving your truck's good looks. The brackets install on the frame, tucked nearly flush to the underside of the vehicle. Remove the arms from the brackets when you're not using them and the brackets will be barely visible.

Custom Fit, No-Drill Installation

Completely custom to your vehicle, the tie-downs attach to exisiting holes in your frame so that there's little to no drilling and no need for any modifications. Because they're custom, you'll want to use our in-house application guide to make sure you get the exact right model. The tie-downs you need might be different depending on what type of hitch or other accessories you have.

Securing Your Camper

TorkLift Talon Tie Down Example

Once the tie-downs are installed, use a set of turnbuckles (sold separately) to secure the camper to the tie-downs. The shank on each arm has 2 pin holes so you can choose how far out they extend, that way the turnbuckles can reach the anchors on your camper without making contact with your truck. Tighten the turnbuckles to the correct level of tension (not too tight!).

where to put camper tie downs

Make sure the anchor points are offset from the tie-downs instead of lined up with them so that they will hold your camper from multiple angles. This is important for keeping your camper from shifting. Two holes in the attachment plate of the tie-downs let you find the best angle for you camper anchors.

Video Transcript for Review of TorkLift Camper Tie-Downs - Ram Front Tie-Downs - TLD2115A

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at these TorkLift Talon Custom Front Camper Tie Downs. These tie downs are going to provide the attachment points at the front of your truck bed to secure your truck's, truck camper's turn buckles. These are just the front tie downs, you'll also need the rear tie downs so that you can tie down your camper at all four corners to make sure it's gonna be nice and secure for you. These brackets are a custom fit, so they are going to work with your 2010 through 2012 RAM 2500 and 3500 with the 8' bed. You will also need either a TorkLift SuperHitch Original 20K Hitch, a TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum 30K Hitch or a factory installed hitch.

And you won't be able to use this if you do have any boards or steps under your truck bed. So if you do have a 2010 through 2012 RAM 2500 or 3500 that meets those specifications, these are going to install very easily for you. They are gonna be frame mounted. So the brackets here are going to fit tight up to the truck's frame so you're not gonna lose any ground clearance. This is going to also ensure excellent handling for you by securing the camper to your truck's base rather than onto the bed.

It's going to better distribute the weight to help to keep the setup from being too top heavy. They do include very detailed instructions for you and all the hardware, mounting brackets that you're gonna need to get these installed. And then once they're installed, your brackets here are going to stay installed on your truck's frame. And then as you can see, when you're ready to hook up your camper, you can install one of these tie down inserts into your receiver bracket. When you're not wanting to take your camper out for the weekend or for your trip, you can simply put these rubber caps over them, remove the arms, put those caps on.

And because these are going to be up by your truck's frame, they're going to be virtually indistinguishable from your truck's body. So rather than some other tie down brackets that stick out from your truck's cab and bed connection there, they're kind of unsightly, takes away from the look of your truck, you're really not gonna be able to see these. They're going to stay hidden down there underneath. And so very nice to have that capped off, out of the way when you're not wanting to take your camper out. And then when you do want to get hooked up, you just simply remove these caps.

You'll take one of the arms and just slide it in like so. You can see, we do have two holes here. And so if your camper is a little bit wider, you can use this hole. Or if it's not as wide, you can use that one there. Just slide that in, get it lined up with the hole there and then pass our pin through to hold it in place. And that's all you have to do. Then you're ready to put your turn buckles in place, get your camper tightened down. So very, very easy to use and to take off when you don't need it. And just pull out that pin, remove the arm and you can put that cap there over top of the receiver. This does have an aluminum alloy construction. So it is going to be very corrosion resistant which are gonna be nice as it's sitting there on the beneath your frame, or right next to your frame. You won't have to worry about road salts and different debris causing any issues for you. They also have a high impact powder coat finish that's gonna add some extra durability and protection for you. This is made here in the USA, so you can trust it's made to the high quality standards that we've come to know and trust for products that are made here in the US. They also come with a lifetime warranty so if you we're to have any issues with them, you're more than welcome to reach out to us here at etrailer.com. But I really don't think you're gonna have any problems. I think you'll be very happy with the way these help to secure your camper and being able to remove those arms when you're not using it. So that completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..

Well made, fit well, and look good. Well worth the money. Bought aluminum to save weight.

by:

Ordered both front and back set for my 2023 F250. All good except one of the bolt holes for the front drive side is missing. Called etrailer. Option 1 - return (we'll see). Option 2 call torklift. Called torklift and left a message - we'll see what the response is. Viewing etrailer website, this is the proper fit. Viewing torklift website "There are no fits available". Photo included.

Torklift makes the best truck camper accessories period! Best value for the best price.

by:

Fairly easy installation, lots of support and videos if you need the help. We'll built and works as it should.

by:

Always a great product! Shipping packaging needs to be improved as these were received dinged up and scratched. Installed anyways as I didn't want to go through the hassle of reorder and return.

Will still continue to purchase products through etrailer, but wanted to make note.

by:

Excellent product and excellent service from ETRAILER! Held up well after one year, will hold up in long run as well. Fit and finish of product is outstanding. Durable coatings, and well worth the extra money for these!

by:

Great product. E trailer staff was friendly, knowledgeable and made the purchase easy. Will use them again for future needs.

by:

Installed on a 2016 RAM 3500. The install was pretty easy overall however, my biggest gripe is that I needed to purchase 6 extra Grade 8 bolts and nowhere does the packaging indicate that I needed to purchase extra hardware. Also, the drivers side mount was not manufactured 100%-flat so getting the short bolt in was a challenge but finally got it. I'm giving this a 3-star due to the missing bolts and no indication that more would be needed.

by:

The tie-downs were a bit difficult to install for a novice but if you follow instructions closely they did install as outlined in the instructions. They are lightweight and have held my camper in place very well. I am happy with this purchase.

by:

Installed easily and works great!

by:

I purchased front & rear TorkLift Frame mounts. Thay worked great and safer than bed mounts.

by:

I bought the Torklift camper tie downs for my new 2017 Ram 3500 dually. I haul a Lance 850 slide in truck camper. They came today and I installed them in about 4 hours. (I work slow) I bought the Aluminum ones so I don't have to worry about any rust. They look great and like the Torklift that was on my old truck I am sure they will give me great service.

by:

Torklift frame mounted tie downs are a great product. The rear ones are easy to install. The front require a bit more skill and an extra set of hands. It’s a bit nerve wracking thinking you might loose the bolts into the frame! I upgraded my truck from an F150 to an F250. Because the brackets aren’t transferable, I had to get a new set and install them on my F250. I was glad I had the experience with the previous brackets on the F150 because the ones for the F250 are a bit heavier and more challenging to install. But I was able to do it with an extra set of hands to hold the brackets on to the frame. The fact that I went with the same Torklift system is a testament to the product. If you can afford aluminum, they’re beautiful and light. But once everything is in place, there’s no functional difference.
etrailer has great installation videos for the F150, but not the F250. I wish they had install videos for the F250 because it’s a bit more challenging, requiring an impact driver to loosen the nut on the driver side leaf spring.

by:

About a year ago, I purchased the aluminum Talon Torklift Frame-Mounted Front and Rear Camper Tie-Downs. The install was easy taking the better part of a day including a little help from a local automotive mechanic to loosen and retorque the truck’s leaf spring bolts. The Tie-Downs have worked great since installed with no issues. I highly recommend them.

by:

Excellent product. Good customer service. I will always use tork lift products from now on.
etrailer is an excellent vendor as well.
I upgraded from happy jack camper tie downs. I like the aluminum talon tork lifts for their easy installation, zero corrosion liability, and unimposing appearance when not in use.

by:

It's a little tricky feeding the bolts through the frame (almost lost one, but a little tape on the bolt/spring helped), but a great product otherwise. The mounting scheme for my Chevy 2500 HD is strong and ingeniously designed. No drilling or welding. The aluminum won't rust like other tie-downs mounted to the frame. It was well worth the extra money to get the aluminum version of this product.

by:

I ordered Camper tie-downs for my new Ram 2500. I erroneously ordered TDL2126A for the front. They wouldn't clear the nurfs. A quick call confirmed that I would need the TDL2127A. I had to pay for the 27As up front and hope when I returned the 26As on an rmer I would receive prompt refunds. Imagine my surprise when they notified me that they received my return and the refund was on its way. These guys are super, especially Brenden C.
ps the Aluminum tie downs are great and the happy jacks awesome!

by:

I purchased the Torklift Talon front and rear TC tie downs and love the fact they are lightweight but yet very strong. Being aluminum powder coated is great being in a salt air environment so no rusting like the steel versions do.

by:

Excellent Product, installed easily and does the job of holding down my large truck camper very well, very satisfied. Rick

by:

My salesperson was great, especially with the mess-up in shipping and handling. (Install instructions were not included) Of course, Torklift products are very well made BUT I did have to modify them ever so slightly, probably because my 2016 Ram was put together with a little less accuracy than was needed. Would use etrailer again.

Easiest installation available. These fit perfect and attach just as instructed. The only issue you may have to watch is that on some truck frames, mine being one of them, Ford covers one of the holes with a black sticker that states, "No Mounting Bracket". In my case, the writing on this sticker was covered by a film of road grime and I had problems even finding the hole to dry fit the bracket until I cleaned off the frame with solvent. The actually TorkLift kit fits the frame perfectly though. The passenger rear bracket is very close to the exhaust pipe so when diesel particulate filter regeneration cycle begins, it will melt the label off the bracket but does not appear the even burn the paint on it so should still be OK, just be aware when unhooking the tie down from the bracket as it could be very hot.

Received 2 driver side front mounts and dealer where it was being installed went the extra mile and made the change happen by calling your company. Trip stalled out b/c of incorrect parts. Product is likely great but product was incorrect when received.

by:

I just finished installing the front tie-downs and am really happy with the results. Although the instructions directed me to remove one e-cable bracket, I removed both e-cable brackets on the driver's side to get enough slack to slide the bracket behind the e-cable. See the pictures. Instructions were easy to follow. Many thanks to big A for the extra hands, impact tool and torque wrench!
