A Safe Ride is a Comfortable Ride

If you're looking for the best tie-downs for your camper, frame-mounted is the way to go. The frame is the most solid part of your entire vehicle, so it just makes sense to attach your camper to something that's not going to warp, bend, or twist. Even more importantly, the camper's center of gravity will sit lower and its weight will be spread across the entire bed. This avoids a top-heavy load perched on top of your bed rails that's liable to sway and get pushed around by crosswinds. The camper's not going to shift or slide around while you drive; it's going to stay put, and your truck is going to handle just like it does without a camper.

Quick Tip: If you have a plastic or spray-in bed liner, it's important that you use a rubber mat under the camper to eliminate any sliding or bouncing.

Don't Ruin Your Truck's Looks

how will tork lift tie downs look on my truck

Frame-mounted tie-downs are also a great pick for preserving your truck's good looks. The brackets install on the frame, tucked nearly flush with the underside of the vehicle. Remove the arms from the brackets when you're not hauling your camper, and the brackets will be barely visible.

Custom Fit, No-Drill Installation

Completely custom to your vehicle, the tie-downs attach to exisiting holes in your frame so that there's little to no drilling and no need for any modifications. Because they're custom, you'll want to use our in-house application guide to make sure you get the exact right model. The tie-downs you need might be different depending on what type of hitch or other accessories you have.

Securing Your Camper

TorkLift Tie Down Example

Once the tie-downs are installed, use a set of turnbuckles (sold separately) to secure the camper to the tie-downs. The shank on each arm has 2 pin holes so you can choose how far out they extend, that way the turnbuckles can reach the anchors on your camper without making contact with your truck. Tighten the turnbuckles to the correct level of tension (not too tight!).

where to put camper tie downs

Make sure the anchor points are offset from the tie-downs instead of lined up with them so that they will hold your camper from multiple angles. This is important for keeping your camper from shifting. Two holes in the attachment plate of the tie-downs let you find the best angle for you camper anchors.

Video Transcript for Review of TorkLift Camper Tie-Downs - Truck Bed Camper Front Tie-Downs - TL74YR

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com.Today, we're going to take a quick look at the torklift custom frame mounted truck camper tie-downs. So basically, this setup is going to allow you to attach these mounting anchors to the frame of your truck. It's going to install right at the front of your truck bed and attaching to the frame of the truck is going to make your whole setup less top heavy, rather than attaching it to the bed. So it's going to be a lot more secure and stable. One thing I really like about these arms is that when you're not using them, you can simply remove this outer portion here. So this inner bracket is what's going to be permanently attached to your truck's frame, but with the arm removed, you're really not going to be able to see this at all. So it's not going to take away from the look of your truck. These brackets are a custom fit.

So they're going to work with your 2019 and 2020 Ford Ranger with the five foot bed. As long as you don't have the steps or boards underneath your truck bed, that would potentially block these. But once you have these installed, you can easily remove and reinstall the arms when you are needing to put your camper in the bed. You can see there are two holes here. So if we line it up with that first hole, that's going to give us a much longer arm.

So that will be great for our wider campers. We do have the shorter option as well. So if our camper's a little bit more narrow, we can line it up like that. And then to get this sturdy, you just put the pin through and then attach the clip on top like that. And it's ready to go.

It's going to provide that solid attachment point for our camper. Now all of these components are a steel construction, so they're going to be really strong and durable. They do have black powder coat finish on them, so they're going to help resist rust and corrosion. So going to last you a nice long time, do a great job for you.As you can see, all of the hardware is included to get it installed. They also include instructions to help with each step of the process. They've got pictures in there to make sure everything is lined up correctly and is going to work well for you. Now, keep in mind, these are just the front brackets.

The rear brackets are sold separately, but it is going to be important to have all four attachment points for your camper so that everything is going to be nice and secure as you're going down the road. These do come with a limited warranty. So if you we're to have any problems with them, you could give us a call. We'd be happy to help you out with that. But overall, I think these are going to do a great job for you. I don't think you're going to have to worry about any problems. Good quality materials, great attachment point, the frame's going to be very solid for you. They are made here in the USA. You can trust that they're made to the same high quality standards that we've come to know and trust for products that are made here in the U.S.So overall, I think these are going to be a great option for your Ford, give you that solid attachment point for your camper so that everything's going to be nice and sturdy and you have a more comfortable drive and a better experience all around. So that's going to complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.
