Video Transcript for PTC Custom Fit Charcoal Cabin Air Filter Installation - 2016 Toyota Tundra

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com, and today we're going to be taking a look at the PTC custom fit cabin air filter with a charcoal treatment on our 2016 Toyota Tundra. Now what a cabin filter is going to do for your truck is the same thing what a furnace filter does for your house. All that air coming into our truck is going to get filtered through here, before it comes through our vent. And the charcoal on our filter is going to make sure that everybody that has those breathing problems, maybe allergies or anything else, this is going to do a really good job of clearing out those odors and pollen and materials, or anything else that may get in and cause us some breathing issues.Because let's face it, a cabin filter is probably one of the last things you're thinking about. And I know we've all been in that situation, we're at the service center, we're getting an oil change or another service done on our truck, and somebody offers to replace our cabin filter for us. Now it may be dirty and it may need to be changed, but I will tell you, there's no reason to pay anybody to do it because it's an extremely easy process and you'd be done within a matter of minutes. Now we have this brand new one here, so we're going to go ahead and check ours and if it does need to be changed, we can always replace it with this one.

The manufacturer is going to recommend to check, if not change it, about every 12 to 15,000 miles, but you do want to double check your Tundra's owner's manual for that specific time. Again, let's go ahead and do it together because it is such an easy process. We'll start out by coming to the passenger side and opening up the glove box. So we'll start by removing any of the manuals or any other paperwork or anything else that we might have in our glove box, and we can set it aside. It'll have this tray in here, now this is just going to pop out. So you can grab the edge towards the passenger side and lift up, it'll pop out of the clips.

You should be able to rotate it and pull it out. And if we look at the very back wall here, there'll be a panel and it'll tell you to slide up. So we grab that little lip at the very top, pull upward, we'll be able to rotate it, and pull that panel out. And that'll expose our cabin filter cover here. There's two little tabs on each end.

Squeeze them, pull the cover out, then we can grab our cabin filter, pull that out as well. Now you can immediately tell that this is pretty dirty, because to start out, this actually was white. It wasn't a charcoal filter. So it's pretty dirty, and if I open up the pleats, you can see the larger pieces of debris that it's catching. Which is a good thing, because we don't want these leaves to get down into the blower motor, make that annoying sound, or get further down into our system causing a lot of back pressure, eventually causing damage to our HVAC system. Since this is so dirty, we're going to go ahead and set it aside and put it our a new one.But before you put the new one in, you want to pay very close attention.

On your original filter, it should have an arrow with the airflow direction. So this arrow is pointing up. So we want to grab our new one, find the arrows on that and make sure they're going the same way. We'll take our new filter, slide it in place, and then it's just as easy as reversing the process, putting all the panels back in. And with that back cover, what I like to do is get it pretty close to lined up, and actually go above where I need to so falls in the slots. Then we just press down and it'll lock into place. We'll rotate that shelf, line up our two tabs over here. And again, just push down, and it'll lock it in.Once you have all those panels back in place, that'll finish up your installation and your look at the PTC custom fit cabin air filter with the charcoal treatment on our 2016 Toyota Tundra..

All products came together in one package. Shipping time was fair. As always, etrailer was great for getting exactly what I needed.

Shipping cost is poo; added the items I needed for my car to negate that mess.

Very fast delivery! Excellent products and all installed into the camper! The blocks are very compact and easy to carry. I like that I can use them for my rear duals without making two stacks. Quality filter and the new faucet was an easy install. Works like a dream! Now all my faucets are single handle! Great pricing. Buy here.

While the Filter seems acceptable, the [online] video etrailer has on-line showing how to DIY install/replace and access the filter is incomplete and a bad source of how to do it. In it, the information on a simple procedure like removing the glove box to get at the filter housing completely neglects to tell an Acadia owner it is necessary to easily disconnect the left-side of the glove box from the swivel restraint which takes two seconds. That earned the one star review and caused me to finally source other, complete and accurate [online] videos on how to do it.
