Video Transcript for PTC Custom Fit Cabin Air Filter Installation - 2011 Honda Accord

Clayton: Hey, guys. How's it going Clayton, here, at etrailer.com. Today, I have a 2011 Honda Accord we'll be taking a look at, and I'll show you how to install a PTC cabin air filter on your vehicle. Our filter is going to be constructed out of a white media particulate. This filter is also pleated. What these pleats are going to do is it's going to catch all the dirt and debris and other contaminants coming through your air system. It's going to help your AC run a lot cleaner, over time, and not put added stress. One nice feature about this particular air filter is that it has these reinforced channels, on the back, and our air actually comes through this side.

So what this is going to do, is help our filter keep the same shape and keep our pleats from spreading apart. So this filter is going to filter up to 90% of any contaminants coming through our air. This is going to make our cabin air much cleaner, not only for you, but also for your passengers. So we're looking at our old filter. As you can see, there's lots of dirt and debris inside of our pleats, but that's good because our filter is doing exactly what it's supposed to do. The problem is, over time, this'll add more stress to our AC unit, and these smaller particles that might not get trapped can come through our air box, into our cabin.Changing out our cabin filter is a very easy thing to do. It should be done, routinely.

Personally, I like to do mine every couple oil changes, just so I know it's done and that I'm getting fresh air. Speaking of installation, I'll walk you through how to get it installed, now.To begin our installation, we're going to open our glove box. Once our glove box is open, we're going to push in on the sides, and that will release our glove box. And we can lower our glove box out of the way and get to our cabin filter. With our the glove compartment open, you can see our cabin filter box. To remove our cover, there's going to be two tabs on each side.

We're going to push those in and pull our cover off. In this particular vehicle, our air filter actually came out with our cap. So we do want to make note, here, where it says airflow, with our arrows pointed down, our new filter is going to say the same thing. So we want to make sure we install our new filter the same way.All we're going to do is push up on the filter, then pull it out. We can grab our new filter.

And here is the airflow I was talking about, on our new filter. So we're going to make sure that that matches up with our air box cover. You might have to turn it, depending on which orientation the air filter is in, drop that back in, and then we'll slide our cover back on, making sure it's in the right direction. You'll hear it snap down. We will pinch the sides of our glove box, again, and push it back into place. That's going to do it for a look at and installation of a PTC cabin air filter, on our 2011 Honda Accord.
