Hi there RDX owners, today on your 2009 Acura RDX, we're going to be installing PTC's custom fit cabin air filter. Here you can see our old filter next to our new filter. You can see all the dirt and debris that it was captured by our old filter, especially when you open it up and look inside there. This is the air that's coming out of the events when you have your heater or air conditioner on and this traps all the pollen, dirt and debris to ensure that the air that you're breathing is going to be healthy for you.When your filter gets stopped up and dirty like this, it can restrict the air flow out of your events, causing poor performance from your heating and AC system. And it can eventually start to pass through some of the particles. So you'll be breathing in that pollen, which can have bad effects on your allergies.Additionally, it can also help remove some of the smell that you may be picking up from the outside by filtering it through here, so it'll smell cleaner inside your vehicle.

We'll begin our installation on the passenger front seat. We'll need to lower down our glove box to gain access to where our filter goes.So we'll open our glove box. The dampener for the glove box is located here. You'll want to push that towards the front of the vehicle and down, and that'll allow you to release that arm. Then the two sides here, you'll lift up slightly, push those together and it will lower all the way down.

Any items inside your glove box you'll probably need to remove.Your cabin air filters located behind the cover here. There's two release tabs, one on each side, press those in and slide the filter out. Pull the filter up to remove it from the enclosure here and you can see it's pretty dirty. So we're just going to set this aside. If there's any debris in here, you want to knock that out.We can now take our new filter.

You'll want to look at the airflow direction. We want to make sure the arrows are pointing down and then we'll just set our new filter in, slide it back into your HVAC system. It clicks right into place. Now we can re-install our glove box and we push that up until it clicks in and you'll pull your dampener down and click it back into place.You can put anything that you had in your glove box back in and the installation is complete. You can now turn on your HVAC system, listen for any odd noises, because it's not uncommon for a leaf to sometimes fall down inside your unit and you'll hear that against the blower motor.

If that's the case, you do hear a little bit of noise, you can repeat the process but adhere to remove your filter and then you can reach down in there and pull any of that debris out.You want to make sure your system is completely off before you stick your hand inside of it.
