Black-painted drum brake assembly lets you reverse without actuating. Designed for use with hydraulic brake actuators that do not include reverse lockouts. Fits most 15" and larger wheels.

Specs:
The unique free-backing design, patented by DICO, lets your trailer move in reverse without actuating the brakes. When you begin backing up, the brake shoes are firm against the drum, as in a braking situation. As you continue in reverse, however, the shoes turn with the drum until the lining pressure is released and you are able to back up freely.
These brakes are designed to eliminate friction between the shoes and drum when you are driving in reverse. A trailer breakaway kit will not be effective should your trailer disconnect from your tow vehicle when backing up.

Today we're going to take a look at the Titan 13 inch free backing left hand hydraulic drum brake assembly for up to 6500 pound axle. This is a hydraulic drum brake assembly. It's designed for use with a surge type trailer brake actuator. This is a free backing design so it lets you reverse without the trailer brakes being activated. Basically the hydraulic pressure is maintained by the wheel cylinder. This is a manual adjustment, so it does require periodic manual adjustment. Here's your adjustment gear right here. And if you turn it over you can see that they do include the rubber adjuster plug.
You just pop that out, put your adjustment tool in there to adjust your brakes, and then put your plug bag in there. That plug is included and it's nice to have in there because it keeps dirt and grime from getting inside your brake assembly. If you also notice, the backing plate here is a nice black paint finish to prevent corrosion. The specs on this again. This is a left hand assembly, so it's for the driver's side of the trailer. The dimension or the size on this brake assembly is 13 inches by 2.5 inches. And where they get that measurement from: the 13 inches would be the diameter from the edge of this shoe all the way across to that shoe.
So if we took this ruler, end to end it's 13 inches. The 2.5 inches would be the width of the brake page itself. 2.5 inches. This does work with wheel sizes fifteen inches and larger. The mounting flange bolt pattern is a four bolt, so it does mount onto a trailer that has a four bolt brake mounting flange. Now the mounting hardware you can see is included. It comes with the bolts, the nuts, and the lock washers for installing this onto your axle. The center hole diameter, the large hole right here, the diameter on that is 3.9 inches. Again this assembly is designed for axles rated up to 6500 pounds. That should do it for the review on the Titan 13 inch free backing left hand hydraulic drum brake assembly for up to 6500 pound axles..
